Rams rookie cornerback out for season

Associated Press - August 10, 2008 8:44 PM ET

MEQUON, Wis. (AP) - St. Louis Rams cornerback Justin King's rookie season is over before it got started.

King suffered a torn ligament in his left big toe in Saturday's preseason opener against Tennessee. The injury will require season-ending surgery according to coach Scott Linehan.

King will be placed on injured reserve in the coming days. King's injury comes as a serious blow to a secondary that has already been hit by the injury bug.

The fourth-round draft choice from Penn State had made a strong early impression in camp and was working as the team's third cornerback against Tennessee.

Disapointing. I really wanted to draft him in the 3rd round this year. He has a ton of potential.

man that sucks. i was really hoping we would have taken a shot with him after watching him through his career at psu. even with the injury i think he will come back next year and grow into a true top notch corner.
good luck justin
