View Full Version : Casey Hampton Photos from Camp......
Okay, I saw two photos at the Post Gazette and two thoughts immediately came to me........
In the first photo, boy does Casey simply look mean.

In this photo, I noticed the size of Casey's arms. Now, I always thought Simmons was a pretty good sized guy, but Casey arm appears to be 1/3rd again the size of Simmons.

I just thought those photos were interesting.

Doesn't tell me anything. You are looking at the inside of Casey's bicept while it is compacted and comparing that to the outside of Simmons arm while it is extended. The angle is the problem. I'm not saying that Hampton doesn't have a bigger arm but it isn't 1/3 again the size of Simmons.
I know, that is why I said it appears 1/3rd bigger.
I do know this though, Simmons right hand is seconds away from being removed from Casey's chest.
That is two big men there.

not to mention PIG having a 1/3 again FATTER of an arm dosen't really do all that much.
my girlfriend's fat ass grandma has arms twice the size of PIG's.......does that mean she should be our next starting NT?
oh, and she looks easily twice as mean as PIG (like i've said before, enough with the big snack, hambone, hammy, etc. cutesy nicknames.......call him what he is and maybe then he'll hold himself accountable and take his weight and conditioning seriously)

Why tell us? Go to Latrobe and tell him...to his face.

Don't give him any ideas. He would go there, say something, have Casey unhinge his jaw for him, then sue the hell out of Casey and the Steelers.
Casey makes his living fighting two guys for 3+ hours every Sunday. And, it is a damn fight.
Casey would grab Tweek's ass and shoot him off the field like a rubber band.
To me Casey looks fat and hoooongry.

Agreed. If this isn't the most "blown out of proportion" issue i've seen, i don't know what is. Casey is out of shape every summer, alway's has been, alway's will be. People who expect some chiselled specimen will alway's be disappointed.
I want him big, he's more effective that way. When Sapp took off all that weight, he became Nolan Harrison.

well, i was in latrobe last Mon and Tue..........and wouldn't have been able to tell him anything seeing as how they had the PIG quaranteened on the opposite side of were the rest of the team was............probably didn't want his attitude or the spectacle he's made of himself to affect the players. otherwise i WOULD have told him just what i think...would have wen't something like "hey piggy! you know there are plenty of people out there who aren't nearly as blessed as you have been, making millions of dollars to play a game as a grown man..............maybe have enough respect for your position, your team, and your fans to put down the twinkies every once in a while."

PIG would have to catch me first.........and from what i saw and from the run test PIG would have a hard time catching a cold.
christ, i could turn around and run backwards and have ZERO worry about PIG catching me.
i can run 800yrds........................................... .PIGs cant.

and don't get me wrong.........i don't want him at 250.
but i have heard he showed up closer to 400.........and if he is going to be taking on 2 people every play for 3+ hrs then he needs to be in shape (for his size) to do that.
there is a guy from Pittsburgh that agrees with me............can't remember his name.............OH YEAH, IT'S MIKE TOMILIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he thought it wasn't blown out of proportion...........and that's why PIG hadn't been on the field yet.
get some self discipline and get your weight down and i'll get some respect for ya PIGGY!
I do not want him to try to see 4 bills in his lifetime, but Casey said he expected to get in shape DURING camp.....Tomlin made him live up to his expectations. I am cool with that. IMO, it was all stated in that article at PittsburghLive....
"It's a new coach, and he goes about things in a different way, and I can't do things the way I want to do them. I've got to do them the way he wants me to do them. I've got to be professional about it and just get it done."
Tomlin said he is pleased with the professionalism Hampton showed while working his way into the kind of shape that is acceptable to the Steelers.
Neither he nor Hampton said how much the latter weighs.
"He's down a significant amount of weight," Tomlin said, adding that Hampton will do extra conditioning work after practices. "He is ready to go.
"The whole emphasis is to make sure he's the most dominant nose tackle in football. We're on the (same) planet."
Two grown men doing what they have to do to help this team win. And, I believe, no proof, just a belief, that Casey will be in better condition for it this season. Tomlin is really the first one to force him to get there.

Where have you been the last two days? Hampton is back practicing and Tomlin is happy with the PROFESSIONALISM he has shown. He has cut enough weight to where Tomlin is good with it.
Yet, you continue to blather on.
And, I get he would have to catch you first.....because IF you were a man, you would stand in front of him and state it to his face. I'd STILL go try it if I were you. Maybe Harrison would run you down and hold your for Hampton. But, I guess you would not worry about it then either, because the stench of you shitting yourself would probably make them feel sorry for you.

TMC professionalism=not showing up out of shape after a 6mo. offseason
professionalism does not = being humble enough to realize that you're a fat pig at this point and not making an even bigger spectacle of yourself. (thankfully he did realize this and did put some effort into getting into shape, and i'm happy about that.......just makes me mad as a fan that he didn't take it more seriously to begin with.)
also, all jokes aside. Casey is a football player, i'm a 26yr old former marine, current MMA assistant instructor (10yrs MMA experience), former runner up for states in wrestling (when in high school), and former battalion champ in marines for wrestling (2001, 2002 for 2nd Tanks in 29 Palms CA).
i would have ZERO worries about stepping into a fight with casey..........pushing O-lineman around and fighting are too WAY diffenent things.......if u had ever done either for any amount of time you would know how stupid of a thing it is to equate physical size or football skill into fighting prowess.
bruce lee= 135lbs. think casey could take him too?

Maybe he should just balloon up to 800lbs. That way all he has to do is lie down on the field. Think about it...the C can't budge him, the G can't trap him and the RB will have to be an Olympic hurdler to get over him.
Now THAT is clogging up the middle.

Perhaps Casey was trying to become his OWN planet?? A couple more lbs and he can start having a gravitational pull!! (that doesn't just occur when he opens his black-hole mouth!)

Dude, you actually took the time to post this and THEN PMed it to me? Seriously? Either state it here or state it there.........
No need to open your PM, because here is what I SAID in response......
Wow, all that experience and discipline and you still call people names like a 7 year old. You would think that the Marines would train people to have more character.
I guess since they produce a "professional" as yourself and you sink to that level, we can consider the Marines a group that really does not produce high character people.
Finally, when you step away from your job as a Marine, take a leave of absence to visit your family, do you take your gun home and practice shooting people?
You didn't? I guess you took your job about as seriously as Casey did while he was on vacation.
And, thanks for schooling me on your background, I was really worried I would never find out.
To further this, since we do want to get this out in the open......I have read PLENTY of times from various people that IF they made $4M a year, they would make sure they came into camp IN SHAPE.
BULLSHIT!!!!!
It has been proven MANY times and stated in VARIOUS business journals that money is not considered a main motivating factor for people. Here are various articles stating money is not the main motivator:

You are only motivated by money until you get it. The more money one makes, the less motivated they are.
You train people in MMA.....how many of your students train hard EVERYDAY and how many of them are rich?
And yes, I think Casey could take Bruce Lee....I am SURE if there is any of him that has not decomposed, Casey could just stomp the pieces.

BS, people with money still want money, and as much of it as they can get. you're an idiot for trying to say anything else. i guess that's NOT why we see players (already making millions) bitching for new contracts with more $$$ in them..........oh yeah, that happens all the time.
you kinda lost me with the rest of your tirade, but basically u have 2 positions you can take on this subject.

Dude, if you studied some discipline of martial arts, you only bothered to pay attention to the "this is how you punch and kick" shit, and totally, and I mean totally, ignored anything about basic respect for other human beings. Someday, you will call someone twice you size, with the same or more training some improper name, and you will get away with it. However, someday you won't, that will be the day you might think back to the lessons on humility, honor, and respect for other human beings and start to value those as much as you currently do your years and years of experience. And at 26, let me be the first to say, you've got a hell of a lot to learn about life, so chill down a bit when you are talking about a member of your team, you know, one of the guys you root for.
If it turns out you can't deal with Casey, then I guess your option is to go find a team where all the dline are 135lb lean mean MMA stars, and root for them. Good luck with that.

I can't speak for Casey, but I'm extremely motivated by money, more than anything. The more I make, the more I want to make, the harder I work, because I realize that the better I get, the more I'll make.
But maybe Casey is like others in your cited studies?
Employers ranked external conferences and seminars, tuition reimbursement, managerial training and company support for an academic degree higher than pay for performance as ways to retain their best and brightest workers.
Shit, I hope he doesn't leave and join the Bengals with their flex work schedule!

Tom Brady did not bitch about a new deal and then break the bank. For every player that holds out and hits the media, there are 5 that quietly sign a deal and 99% of the players in the NFL have agents do their deals for them. Why? Because agents press for the money.
Did you join the marines for the money? Are you training people in MMA for the money? Neither were/are high paying jobs. Are you telling me that you joined the Marines for the money? Do you do what you do now for the MONEY? Can you not find a better paying job? I am quite sure that someone in your stated physical condition could work in the Bering Strait as a fisherman....they make a year's salary in a few weeks. Of course, they have the highest death rate of any profession, but the money is good. Hell, you are a military man, be a mercenary.....that has to pay well. Is teaching MMA the BEST PAYING job you can get?
Money ONLY motivates until basic needs are met. Not only is it pointed out in the studies, it is basically stated in any first year Psychology course. When you look at Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, everything past the 2nd level cannot be gained by the amount of money you have. You cannot get respect from your peers by buying it.
And, I figured I would lose you sooner or later. You do not seem so swift. There are WAY more than 2 positions that can and have been taken on this subject.
1-You have a problem with Casey's weight and you want to make an ass out of yourself (this would be your position).
2-You take issue with Casey's weight but allow the coaches and trainers to handle it.
3-You take issue with Casey's weight and how it has been handled in the past. It has been an ongoing issue for you and you cannot understand the uproar at this point.
4-You do not have an issue with Casey's weight because he is a grown man and lives in America, giving him the right to choose HOW to live his life.
5-You do not have an issue AT ALL.
6-You take issues with people who simply post to call a player a name.
Gladly, I do not have to limit my choices to yours.
My Son is a Sgt. in the Marine Corp and he dosent act/talk like Tweak...just sayin.

USM, I absolutely know that this is not what our military generally produces. I also know that most people trained in any type of combat show great discipline. But, there is always an exception......

BVC, while I understand money may be in the forefront for you, most studies show that it does not motivate the masses and will only do so over the short term. Have you ever turned down a better paying job for another reason? Are you willing to relocate for more money? Would you move overseas? If it paid more, would you take a job working in a sewer? What about working on the top of a tall building servicing the communications towers?
There are MANY factors that go into choosing a career. I currently work for myself, which cut my pay in half compared to what I once did.....but, I work when I want doing what I want. I can take my oldest son to school everyday. It allowed me to move him from his normal high school to a program taught on a college campus. He will graduate a semester early and actually take college courses in his final high school semester. I am also able to take my youngest son back and forth to school. I take time off to hunt and fish when I like. My old job paid better, but I also left before anyone was up and came in after my children were in bed. I worked 6, sometimes 7 days a week. My work was my life. Money was absolutely not a deciding factor in my career choice.
If Casey quit today, I am sure he has made enough to not work another day in his life IF he has not Mike Tyson'ed his money. I do not think that Ben Roethlisberger works any harder today than he did last season....even though he makes WAY more money.
Once you have the ability to buy just about anything you want, I fail to see how stacking paper in a bank can motivate you.

Earning potential is pretty much the number one factor for me; of course I'm not going to hurt my family situation for more money, though. Does that mean that work/family balance is the number one motivator? No, but it has to be considered. If it's $200K and on a plane every day, $150K and on a plane twice a month, or $50K and home for dinner every night to tuck my kids in, I'll go for the $150K. It's about striking the optimal balance. There's always going to be give and take.

Agree, there has to be balance... one thing, though, the NFL is WAY WAY different than corporate America. These guys have 10 (give or take, I know it can be higher or much lower) years to make their living in this profession. They can't job hop, they can't work flexible schedules, they can't take a Sunday off. They eat, sleep, and breathe football until their bodies can't do it anymore. While many "love the game", even they want to be paid significantly for their services.
If Casey quit today, I am sure he has made enough to not work another day in his life IF he has not Mike Tyson'ed his money. I do not think that Ben Roethlisberger works any harder today than he did last season....even though he makes WAY more money.
I actually think Ben is working harder, but don't think it has to do with money. Now that he has his $25 million upfront, he can breathe a little easier. But he seems to be driven to be among the best, win another Super Bowl, etc. That said, if he WASN'T driven by money, he could have easily signed a Romo-like deal for far less; that would have helped the Steelers build a better team around him, making him better, and increasing the chances of another ring. Agree?
Once you have the ability to buy just about anything you want, I fail to see how stacking paper in a bank can motivate you.
It depends on how you define "anything you want" I suppose... I'd love to pay off my kids' college education, upgrade my house, retire early, travel where I want, play golf every day and have a ton of money to leave to my kids and their kids so they don't have to struggle like my parents and grandparents struggled. If the Steelers make the Super Bowl in 2015, I want to be able to drop $10K and take my two boys and give them an experience of a lifetime and not worry about whether I can make the next mortgage payment. But I do realize that not everyone is like that (I also realize that just doesn't happen without exceptionally hard work).
