i am unfortunately a resident of Philadelphia and have to say that i think the city has PCP in the water.
i have heard all weekend and all today on philadelphia sports talk radio about how the eagles, in the words of one of philly's premier hosts, "the eagles first team out played, out hustled, and were more physical......were just plain stronger, better, and faster than the Steelers".
:confused::confused::confused:
did i miss something? fans from philly flooded sports talk radio with how excited they now are because of their eagles performance against the steelers.
i can't wait for the 3rd week in the season, i just hope donovan is playing so we can put him on IR for the rest of his broke dick career.
Eh, whatever. It's Philly, what do you expect?

Well if they're excited about losing to the Steelers first teamers, then good for them.

Some peoples ignorance to reality baffle me.
They are so far out of touch with reality that they are almost on the same planet as Culpepper thinking that he was going to get a shot at starting over Ben.

I guess they missed the part where we stormed down the field in eight plays our first possession and then basically called it a night.

Our 1st teamers were in the game much less than theirs. They didn't get a TD until it was their 1st against our 2nd. Our 1st O moved right down the field with only one 3rd down and scored a TD. If that is what they think is winning, then good for them.

our first D certainly did not stop them either...they settled for 3 we got 7 dont think either team should be real proud of either D's performance McNabb looked like his old self against our 1's and 2's

When the hometown team hasn't won anything since ever you have to hang your hat on whatever you can. I live about 25 min from center city and deal with those idiots on a daily basis so I know how truly pathetic the average eagle fan is, they make Browns fans seem intelligent. Funny thing is they are still a half rung above Bengals fans. If they want to use the first pre-season game as a gauge for anything they need to use it to see how far behind the curve Kevin Kolb is, that franchise is toast for quite a while if they are hitching the wagon to that horse.

Yeah, but our D has been known to give up points on the opposing team's first drive and then lock them down the rest of the game. Just because they scored 3 the first time, doesn't mean they'd do it again.

Switz, they scored their because the phantom pass interference call on 3rd and forever put them in FG range!
Philly has no class. During team introductions when Mahan was announced to rousing cheers, I turned to my buddy and said: "If we were in Philly and Mahan was an Eagle starting, he would have been booed."
I've never understood the Eagles vs the Steelers rivalry in PA. I know it's a little jealousy due to the unbalanced 5-0 SB win total, but come on, we're not even in the same conference. They should be congratulating us for taking 2 of Dallas' Chances away in the 70s!

you guys have no idea how ridiculous it was though. it's hard to describe without sounding like i'm lying but you would think they scored 35points on our first team D in like 5min or something.
and you would think McNabb was Vick with how they reacted to him scrambling.
what i saw was their O-line get owned with a vanilla base D. and i saw our offense go 80 in 8 and put 7 up.
yeah, i guess i should start purchasing Eagles super bowl tickets like the rest of this city seems to be ready to do.

They are supposed to be, it was an Eagles broadcast feed. I couldn't stand to listen to that Mawky Mawk sounding douchebag though. On the play where they called holding, which was a blatant, jersey-ripping hold in the open field, right behind the QB, He kept saying, "Aw've seen dat cawled buhfoor. Ya, Aw've seen dat cawled buhfoor by da 'fficials." Well no shit, that's because it's holding. He also said the penalty they called wrong on Drummond, then figured it out and marched off against the eagles, should have been on Sweed???????
I had them muted about 95% of the time.

"no fans are worse than Philly fans." well, if you were to sit through each season of Eagles football, Flyers hockey, Phillies baseball and Sixers baskeball and to top it off, Temple athletics with such promise and then failure, you'd be rather bitter, too.

I think that guy you're talking about was Charlie Casserly. I noticed his accent too. He always seemed OK on the CBS pregame but that night he was especially douchey. It doesn't bother me when the home town crew is overly biased toward their team but I can't help but feel that he might have been 'auditioning' for a national gig. I don't think he did himself any favors that night. And then when he let his Jersey accent creep in it made it even worse.

I heard Ron and Fez talking about the victory parade for the Soul. I guess they didn't even close down the other lane of traffic. They made it sound like Bon Jovi and a couple players riding down the street in the back of a pickup truck.

I still can't believe they called PI on Harrison. Last I checked when your feet get tangled up that is incidental contact and not PI. I also laughed at Casserly on the 1 long pass that went incomplete with Madison in coverage. He said that he would have called PI on Madison even though he got there right as the ball hit the WRs hands.

LMAO, do they understand that neither team was going to show much of anything since we play them early in the season?
The Ravens were destroying NE the same night, I guess NE is done.

See what the preseason does to fans and teams. Optimism is such a funny thing. Of course reality will set in real fast for a few teams once the regular season rolls around. Just like the ESPN crew talking so positively about the Bungles last night.

I got the local Philly feed in Delaware and I liked Charlie Casserly as an announcer.
He actually wanted to talk about relevant things during a stupid preseason game like watching individual battles and salary cap information that matters in who stays/who goes, but the idiot play-by-play guy wanted to treat the game like it mattered or something.
There was a ton of potential if the play-by-play guy would have just let Casserly talk about some interesting side stuff to what a GM would be looking at during the game, but he ruined it.

i didn't get to go back and see it again...but i was under the impression Harrison didn't get his "bump" in until after the initial 5 yards...the PI didn't look like a bad call to me...

And it sickens me that both franchises needed each other to coexist during WW2. Without the STEAGLES there may be no Steelers or Eagles!

The angle I saw looked like feet getting tangled up. I saw no bump from Harrison. When Harrison turned that was when his feet caught the WR. Maybe I saw wrong, but I swear I saw no bump from Harrison.

The Eagles "first team" offense did run the football against the Steeler 1st D. I think if Hampton had been participating the Eagles would have had to make some changes to the game plan.
The Steelers 1st O looked good against the Eagles 1st D. I wonder how the Eagles explained the ability of the Steelers to move the ball downfield so easily and score so quickly! ;)

may be...looked like a push from behind basically to me as Harrison was turning to run with the WR and realized he was getting beat...but again...just saw the replay once...

Yep. Their feet got tangled but James was looking back for the ball and never touched the guy.

You could tell that official was going to call PI immediately on Harrison. If he really thought the feet getting tangled was a push the flag should have been thrown immediately. I think there was even a delay before he threw the yellow laundry. Glad we stopped them from getting in the end zone though.
