Browns Insider: Cribbs says he's fit for Steelers

Josh Cribbs went through a full workout on Thursday and said afterward that he's eager to play Sunday against Pittsburgh after being sidelined with a sprained right ankle.
Josh Cribbs could hardly contain himself.
"I can't wait to play," the receiver/return specialist said prior to the last major practice before Sunday night's Pittsburgh game. "I think I'm ready. Ultimately, it's up to the coach. But I've been showing I'm able to move. It looks good for me."
Cribbs has been out since suffering a high ankle sprain against the New York Giants on Aug. 18. He was still listed as limited on the Browns' injury report.
Coach Romeo Crennel said that if Cribbs is able to play, "We're going to need him in both situations (offense and special teams)."
Cribbs may get a break from his usual duty as right gunner on the punt team. Rookie Gerard Lawson would take his place.
It remains to be seen whether coordinator Rob Chudzinski will call on his special "Flash" package of plays for Cribbs against the Steelers.
"I'm ready," Cribbs vowed. "I feel I can be a difference in the game."
Been there, done that: Ben Roethlisberger is 7-0 against the Browns. Only a handful of Browns have experienced a win against him. Cribbs is one.
"I always told Charlie (Frye, former Akron and Browns quarterback), 'You ever beat him?'" Cribbs said, knowing the answer was no.
Cribbs and Roethlisberger were rival MAC quarterbacks in their freshman season of 2001, Cribbs at Kent State and Roethlisberger at Miami (Ohio). Cribbs' 51-yard touchdown run put Kent State ahead, 24-20. James Harrison's fifth sack of Roethlisberger clinched the victory. Harrison is now a Steelers teammate of Roethlisberger.
"Every time I play him, I know I beat him my rookie year [at Kent]," Cribbs said. "I'm just trying to let that play out in the NFL."
Willie McGinest, who has said he intends to retire after this season, will play in his 200th NFL game on Sunday night. According to Elias Sports Bureau, McGinest was classified as a defensive end for several years with the New England Patriots, so it's hard to determine where he ranks on the games played list for linebackers. Here's the top five:
1. Clay Matthews, 278 games;
2. Junior Seau, 257;
3. Bill Romanowski, 243;
4. Kevin Greene, 228;
5. Rickey Jackson, 227.
Injury report:
Linebacker Kamerion Wimbley was added to the Browns injury report as limited with a groin injury. Donte Stallworth (groin) missed a second practice in a row and Crennel said he would be doubtful for Sunday. In Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger was limited a second day in a row with a shoulder injury.
Braylon's mea culpa:
Braylon Edwards had the entire media throng to himself in an otherwise deserted Browns locker room on Thursday. Edwards gathered everyone to clarify remarks he made about LeBron James at a promotional appearance on Tuesday.
"LeBron is a friend of mine," Edwards said. "All I did was make a statement, that was actually true. He's a Dallas Cowboys fan, which everybody knows. He's a New York Yankees fan, which everybody knows. I cracked a sarcastic joke ...
"I will take it up with LeBron if there's even an issue, which I don't think there is. So there's no need to talk about LeBron ... There's only a need to talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Questions."
The radioactive quote attributed to Edwards was: "LeBron isn't a Cleveland guy. LeBron only plays for the Cavaliers, and who knows if he even likes the Cavaliers?"
Later, Edwards grumbled that the last thing he needed after his bad game against Dallas was to be interpreted as mouthing off about the Cavaliers' megastar.
"There was some rust there," Edwards said of his two-catch, four-drop, two-penalty game. "The game was a bad game on my part. DA (Derek Anderson) and I are staying after practice, getting that rhythm back, doing some things. We feel we had a good day [on Wednesday]."
In memoriam:
A larger-than-life statue of Al Lerner, the late Browns owner, was installed Thursday near the front entrance of Browns headquarters in Berea.
Norma Lerner commissioned local artist David L. Deming to complete the tribute to her late husband. The statue is nearly 6 1/2 feet tall and weighs over 1.5 tons, according to Bill Bonsiewicz, Browns vice president of communications. The bronze bust, which sits on a black granite pedestal, weighs 300 pounds alone.
"We hope that the statue will stand as a tribute to the great man who brought the Browns back to Cleveland to all who visit our facility," Bonsiewicz said.
Fine play:
Dallas quarterback Tony Romo left Cleveland with 13 stitches in his chin, courtesy of a Willie McGinest helmet hit on the Cowboys' last touchdown drive.
McGinest was fined $7,500 by the NFL "for impermissible use of the helmet," confirmed a league source.
