NFL Picks: Oddsmakers Predict Steelers to Hammer Browns

At the start of the season, many figured the Pittsburgh Steelers would take a step back this year with a suspect offensive line. But the offensive line looked just fine last Sunday as the Steelers blasted the Houston Texans in their home opener. Willie Parker ran well coming off knee surgery and Ben Roethlisberger had plenty of time to scorch Houston’s defense. Both players could have big nights again Sunday in Cleveland, as the Browns’ defense struggled mightily in Week 1 against Dallas.

All of the offseason additions the Browns made on defense didn’t help in Week 1 as the Cowboys hammered Cleveland last Sunday. The Browns didn’t play well in any facet of the game and could struggle again against Pittsburgh Sunday night. Cleveland’s defense will have to step up big time or else Parker will run wild and the Steelers might light up the scoreboard. The Browns offense should play better, although how much better remains to be seen. Pittsburgh still has one of the top defenses in the AFC.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Steelers 6.5-point favorites. The over/under total has been set at 44.5 and current public betting information shows that 76% of bettors favor Pittsburgh –6.5. The Steelers should have no problem with a Browns team that looks like it has taken a step back from their 10-win season of a year ago. Expect the Pittsburgh offense to have no problem moving the football and for the Steelers’ defense to at least keep Derek Anderson, Jamal Lewis, Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow Jr. in check. We predict the Steelers over the Browns 33-16.

I like the Steelers with that spread but Im not taking the over. Its supposed to rain hard all day which will lower the score of this one. I see something like 24-10 or so.

I'm surprised that we felt no tremors when everyone simultaneously jumped off the Browns bandwagon.

I loved that game. 35-0 at halftime. I'd like to see something like that.

I want to see long drives for us. I want Rogers on the field for 7-8 minutes at a time. By our third drive he won't be able to do anything.

That's what I want to see as well. We may not sack Anderson as much, but I want a lot of pressure on him. I want a hard and very physical beat down of the Stains tonight.
