Just curious, where are all of the people talking about how Troy jumps around too much, is overpaid because he didn't have INTs or sacks last year, shouldn't train on his own in the offseason, and/or is hurt way too much?
You know who you are. Come on. Don't make me search...

Troy is one of the elite players in the game when healthy. He has showed that this season.

Notice how they are using him this year. They aren't blitzing him and running him into the OL. As long as he is playing the run, 1 on 1 or zone he is fine. He just can't go man on man with the OL.

Oh, I agree, but you can't blame the man for doing what the coaches ask him too (and even being good at that also)

I think LeBeau gives Troy a free hand. He's a natural.

Though Troy has had some great games in his career, tonight's might have been his best. He was simply amazing.

Troy was not great last year. He's been very good the first two weeks of the year, no doubt. This is the guy that they paid millions to.... if he stays healthy and plays at this level, we're a much better team.
And actually, he is playing quite a bit at the line this year as well.... he's hitting a lot of holes and freeing up the LBs to make plays.

It is great to see Troy play well again....
I think he won the game for us with that interception...That was a fantaic football play by him....

Troy Played solid tonight, but far from his best game ever. The Bungle game when he had Palmers number all day comes to mind for one.

I said it 'might' have been his best, leaving room for arguement.
His INT may have been the play of the game and he absolutely blanketed Winslow all night. I honestly cannot think of a finer performance by him though there may have been a few on par with it.

Easy to see that this D is much more effective w/a healthy head of hair roaming the field. Plus that and my new Troy jersey for extra luck!!!

I don't know dude. He looks to be running right up into that line. Did you see him jump over the line to try and make a play, or the first tackle he made in the backfield. I think it's the same Troy play out there. That's what makes him who he is.

He made a great play on that jump ball with Winslow. Too bad he is too short and didn't win the tip. Good play though batting it up in the air. He played great.

In light of Troy's leap over the line, why not take him up on his offer to be a short yardage/goal line back...take the handoff and fly!! ;-)

In hindsight......he is probably wishing that he just tackled Winslow after he tipped the ball high in the air....There is no way he outjumps Winslow for that ball....and once a ball is tipped, the wideout is fair game..

Sure, he had a great game, but Troy selfishly missed OTAs and reported to camp with a hamstring injury due to his crackpot workouts. He's not a team player.

Well lets not get carried away its only 2 games, but he is playing very well right now. I still think he needs to stay away from the line more or he will end up hurt. What does trying to leap over the center accomplish? Making a tackle like that is extremely unlikely unless it was a GL situation, and all that did was take him out of the play. I have never doubted his abilities, just the way he is used in the games.

Troy takes this defense onto another level. When healthy he's one of the best. I wouldn't want any other safety, yes even Reed, to play for the Steelers.

he should be given the "KEY" to the city! be made next mayor of Pittsburgh, should donate millions to the completion of the Pens new arena, open a bar, save the whales, help little old ladies across the blvd of the allies and finally play forever in Pittsburgh.
yes, by gum, we love Troy, more than life itself.
it's good to have him on our side.

Troy is awesome. He is one of the best in the game. If he is in the game, even at say 80%, he is still better than most. In game 1, he wasn't near 100%. Last night, he looked pretty close. He makes that D hard to plan for.

Great point Vader. Troy had another very good game against the Stains. That interception he had was amazing. While he was lucky to not get hurt I loved it when he flew over the OL on that one play.

I was very surprised he just didn't take Winslow down after the tip. He still almost had a play on the ball even though he jumped early.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on this one. Seemed to me that he spent almost as much time at the line as he did in coverage.

That was actually the only mistake I really saw Troy make. As soon as he tipped the ball, he should have dropped Winslow like a sack of potatoes. Once the ball was tipped, he was free to tackle Winslow--which would have prevented the reception.

They use to send him on the blitz more. Yea, he jumped over the OL one time but again he is playing the run. He isn't pounding the OL to try to get to the QB on a blitz. All safeties have to play the run, there is no avoiding that. But sending him into the OL to try to get to the QB is insane. On a running play he is trying to fill a gap because the OL is already engaged. On a passing play there will be someone to pick up the blitz.
If he is to stay healthy he needs to be mostly in coverage like he was tonight and play the run. If they start blitzing him he will wear out.

He also bulked up last year to survive the pounding that he was taking by blitzing in the A gaps. this offseason, he went back to where he felt comfortable from a speed/athletic standpoint.
Now he's covering Winslow man to man in the slot like he did TO back in the day

Blind...you got me! Actually I was had twice! Not only have I bitched about Troy getting too much money for only 8 games a year (might be a good title for a song huh?) I was under the dillusion that Anthony Smith was a capable replacement...right up until Tom Brady handed him his walking papers!
As part of my punishment I am going to run for Governer of Alaska as I didn't know the difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom either!

Never said that. Only said his aggressiveness takes himself out of plays. It did in the Houston game, but he did do a fantastic job vs the Browneyes.

Ahh,,that would be me except for the training issue, he can train anywhere he wants if it makes him a better player.
This ' nay sayer ' is not quite sold yet, it's very early in the year and we have only played two games. I do admit though that Troy is a lot more productive than he has been and it is a pleasure to watch.
If we plan to go to the playoffs we need him to be productive in Dec & Jan and to get to that point we also need him to play the rest of the season like he played the first two games.
I would love a heavy dose of 'crow' , keep it up Troy and I will enjoy every bite !

Everything about Troy is awesome to me. I love the way he plays the game cause that is who he is. You can't change the way a player plays, cause that's how they play. To change him would be the same as cutting the claws off a cat. There just not the same. let the guy play the way he plays. His only problem has been health which changed the way he was able to tackle which led to him not being himself on the field.
I think it's easy to see that Troy is back. He is one of the best players on our team and NO ONE should be questioning that.

Hold on now,,,for the last two years he has NOT been one of the best players on the team and I for one am not about to give him any special dispensation for his potential.
He plays good, he get's his due. He runs around like a 'headless chicken' missing tackles and assignments and he gets questioned like anyone else.
It is easy to see he's back,,,for these last two games . I want to see what he's like the rest of the season and especially into Dec/Jan.

That's fine you want to see more. But please don't tell me that Troy is a bad player. He's a great player who has been injured the past two years. He had that shoulder injury which kept him from being able to wrap up. he's a great tackler. This is why he missed tackles. He's been trying to play through those injuries the past two years and hasn't been himself.
Troy running around with his head cut off is designed to create confusion in the offense. It works great. That's how he plays and that's how he's always played. You remember right? when everyone loved him and he was the best safety in the league going to probowls.
I think you would be foolish to think that Troy (when healthy) isn't one of the best players on this team and the league for that matter.

Three games. Three picks.
If only our OL played with the same intensity that he does. He kept us in the Philly game last week when the offense clearly was not in their game.
