So far this season I have really been impressed with Holmes' ability to make some tough catches. He is not just a speedster who can only run fly patterns. He's been making some tough, chain-moving catches in traffic and tight coverage...keep up the good work!

it is almost like he should be paid millions of dollars to maske those catches

Exactly, I mean we all know that paying a guy all that money is all it takes.

Jeezus, do some of you people piss in your cheerios just so you can bitch about the taste?

Not paid near what Edwards gets and he doesn't make those catches...

Santonio Holmes: 7/28/2006: Signed a five-year, $8.11 million contract. The deal includes $5.42 million in guarantees. 2008: $600,000, 2009: $700,000, 2010: $755,000.

Braylon Edwards: 8/11/2005: Signed a five-year, $40 million contract. The deal included a $6.5 million signing bonus and contains $18.5 million in total guarantees. 2008: $3.35 million, 2009: $4.55 million,

Holmes made some huge catches last night. He can definitely be a game changer.

Color me very impressed. Holmes is showing very good hands good routes and still the blazing speed. On plays when he is not receiving, he continues to evolve into a Hines Ward type, blocking and working to take guys out of the play, how ever it works. There's no stat to include it but it shows up in the end when we have a W instead of L.

I will just say this, Santonio Holmes is becoming one of my favorite players. He continues to grow into a very good Wide Receiver in a league where egos can cause some guys to be complete and total idiots with a "Me First" attitude. Holmes is not one of them.

Santonio is a damn fine WR. Is it just me or does he seem to disappear in games though? I know he had some nice numbers last night but he was on early and we didnt see much of him late.

he's made #10 a nice number.

Holmes has very good receiving skills. What bothers me somewhat is that on 3rd and medium (5 to 7 yards), Arians/Ben do not look for Miller more often. Miller has the best hands on the team.

Miller was open all night last night and Ben threw to him just twice. He caught both.

Hard to tell with the limited TV viewing angles, but it could very well be that teams start off worrying about Ward, Holmes makes a couple of nice catches and they shift their attention to him, and then you see Ward and Miller start making plays...or it could be Ben going to his security blanket (Ward) as the game progresses...or Holmes could just be going to sleep. All I do know is that the Steelers do have some very nice weapons in the passing game...hell, Ben even threw deep to Willie last night!

Not an enviable task for opposing defensive co-ordinators!

Ben had a guy WIDE FUCKING OPEN on that bomb to Willie. Can't remember who, maybe Miller. Would have gone for 30+ yards had he made the pass underneath

Hell yeah I saw that too was like wide open Ben.

He had Holmes wide open over the middle, but he also had Willie at the time of release. the ball was right on the money even with the saftey getting over the top. problem is, I dont think Parker is used to making those types of catches.

Exactly. Ben put the pass right on the money and Willie just dropped it.

Holmes was uncovered in the middle of the field. Brownies were not covering anybody in that area, all game. They blitzed so much that the middle of the field was wide open. I was hoping to see Miller get some more passes thrown his way, since he was not covered by the Brownies.

But it seemed that the Steelers had Miller stay in to block on quite a few pass plays.

Holmes looks like he put on some muscle during the offseason. And hasn't lost any of his speed...

Man, Santonio needs to take Ben out for lunch and beg for more balls to get thrown his way.

Ya I saw that too, but that throw to Willie was perfect.

If Willie catches that... it's a TD and Ben is being talked about once again as an elite QB by the talking heads.

Peyton couldn't have thrown that ball better.

dont get me wrong, i think holmes will be a very good reciever this year. But the 1st 2games have been very pedestrian. He hasnt been a big part of either game. I am sure this will change, he might have a great game next week and i hope he does. but he really hasnt done much this year.

Peyton doesn't have Ben's arm.

For not liking Santardio that much, he has definitely got my attention. He has been a great compliment to Hines thus far and last season as well.

While we are all happy with Holmes' ability to catch the ball, I am rather disappointed with Hines' inability to catch the ball last night. Hines will always be my favorite Steeler, but when you drop a pass, do not come off the fireld with the same smile as if you just laid out a pancake block on a LBer.

What should he come off the field as then, maybe a whiney little bitch like Rivers? I'll take Ward just the way he is, talent, smiles and all. You can have CJ, MeO, or who the fuck ever you want, they all whine a lot on the field, and they even gripe if they don't get their usual throws their way. If he wants to smile, with the Steeler records he holds, I say let him. If you don't like it, well I say fuck you. :)

Huh? Did you even watch last night's game? He had some HUGE plays to sustain drives. You don't always have to score 6 to be a determining factor in the game.

yep i watched. 48 yd pass play. great I just think he kinda disappears during games. This is the year he is supposed to come out and be the go to guy in our offense. while i hope and think it will and should happen, it certainly has not to date.

Holmes is going to be a very special player in this league. Glad he is on our team. Also that pass to Parker should have sealed the game. Damn shame it went right through his hands. That pass was perfectly thrown to FWP.
