Pittsburgh Steelers: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
Ever since letting go of Plaxico Burress, the Steelers have needed a huge receiver for their quarterbacks to work with. At 6-5, 218, Limas Sweed can help a passing attack ranked just 24th in the NFL.
I've said it before, don't be surprised to see them go WR in the 1st. after that you can draft 6 O-Linemen

Round 1 OL all the way! You can't pass to tall wr's if you're on your backside all day long.

OL, OL, OL!
Wouldn't mind seeing some help at RB, WR and depth on D. Our guys look small and soft.

Steelers need help at LG, possibly LT, C, backup tackle (if Starks leaves).
No way they can wait until round 2 to address this problem.
And as others have noted, selections in the past 2-3 years ignoring OL talent until round 3 and lower look really, really bad right now.

At least a QB is the one thing the steelers dont need.

They will if we don't get some linemen soon:cool:

I say go with the best player that fills the biggest need (DB, DL, OL, or WR).

Did anyone else see our defense get pushed all over the field yesterday?

Jesus Fucking Christ!!! our QB is going to have 30+ TD passes and our WR's aren't good enough?
Jesus Fucking Christ!!! our QB is going to have 30+ TD passes and our WR's aren't good enough?
I do not think our WR corp is good enough. Of our 29 passing TDs, 21 went to our big 3 (Ward, Holmes, and Miller). Washington and Spaeth each snuck in with 3 TDs.
But, it is not all about TDs. Washington only has 22 catches on the season. Wilson has 17. Combined, our #3 and #4 WRs barely get 2 catches a game. If you look at the top 4, which are Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Heath Miller, and Willie Parker, they combined for 176 of Ben's 249 completions, meaning every other guy catching a pass on the team combined for 73 receptions, 7 more than Hines Ward alone.
In fact, aside from our starters, Hines Ward has 7 less catches and 1 less TD than ALL the backup players combined. When you compare this to a team like the Colts, who offense ours is patterned after, you have to realize how deficient our depth at receiver actually is. The Colts, who have missed Harrison for most of the year, still have 5 players with more receptions than Washington, and that does not include Harrison. Their #3, Gonzales, has 35 catches compared to Washington's 22...and he has missed time to injury. Utecht, the backup TE, has 29 catches. If Harrison had been healthy, Washington or Wilson would be the 7th best receiver on that team behind Wayne, Harrison, Gonzales, Addai, Clark, and Utecht. Currently, Washington is 5th on our team.
You seriously cannot think our WR corp is solid enough to run an offense like the Colts. When we were a running team, we entered the season with Willie Parker as our #3 RB. In seasons prior, we always entered with a host of RBs and depth across the line. If we are going to pass, we better have a plethora of receivers.

OL, DL, and WR. Ced is a good #4, but a big receiver would really help as a #3 (and groom to replace Hines eventually).
Holmes is a legit deep threat and (take it easy now!!!) Nate can be also if he continues to work on his fundamentals. I think we need a quick, strong jitterbug like Welker or Steve Smith to fill the void on quick hit stuff. I think we need a guy that can catch the quick slants (that we never throw!) and generate yards after catch. Wilson and Reid can't do that.

I like the pick. I happen to think that Sweed is the real deal. The injury is not a concern to me.

Our "skill" positions are servicable, our "hogs" are not. Right now we have no RT and really no LT to speak of. Take away Faneca and we have no interior line. This all means disaster and injury for Ben, which in turn makes Sweed irrelevent.

we need to rebuild the trenches ol - dl is priority #1
we can get a playmaker via free agency we must rebuild the trenches in this draft

I totally agree we can win games with Parker, Miller, Ward, Holmes, and a shakey defense but we can't win with no line. Take into accout that Faneca is going to be gone now we have at least 3 open spots that need replacing. We need to go oline with the first pick and hope that the guy from pitt is still there then in the 2nd or 3rd we go wr but I do not want a wr under 6'. I also do believe in the best player availble but if a oline is close then thats the way we need to lean. I think our giggest needs are:
1 oline
2 WR
3 DL
4 DB
One more thing I feel it is about time when we draft a guy in the 1st or 2nd round he needs to be on the feild a lot. I know Troy didn't play much his 1st year and look how he turned out but times are changing we need to change along with them.

Our #3 WR sucks. So does our #4 WR. We need to pickup a veteran player to step right in and catch some balls. Fuck drafting another WR. We need to draft OL

The OL starters suck, and the DL reserves suck. We all saw what happens when Aaron Smith is out.
Of the first 5 rounds, 4 need to be on the lines.

I guess you don't think that 30+ sacks (taken) is a problem...

Reid hasn't had a chance to show you that he can be a "Welker-type" receiver.
One thing is for certain - if we CAN address the WR need in FA...we just have to spend some moola to get a decent one...

I would not have a problem with the first 2 picks, but not Forte in the 3rd. At this point I would rather see a tackle taken. I still think Reid can play at the NFL level and wish he would be given a chance. Wilson needs to go and we do need another WR. I just don't want us to forget that OL is a big problem.
