I see 1 loss in the division (not sure which team, but it will happen); losses to the Redskins, N.E. and either Giants or Titans (Titans are late in the season and a lot depends on whether playoff seedings are still at issue).

I really believe the Cowboys are "soft" and the Steelers can punch them in the mouth enough to make them cry "Uncle". Chargers have to come to the Burgh in late November and we get the Colts outdoors the week before.

Of course, this is the NFL...a marathon, not a sprint.

I agree...

The Bengals played the Cowboys very tough yesterday. Considering that we're going to the Queen City, hopefully relatively healthy, it's not going to be the pushover many are thinking--especially if we start looking past them.

Let's worry about the Bengals first and take it week by week.

It all depends on how much influence Aryans has on the game.

I've been watching Washington a bit lately, Jim Zorn would school Aryans.

I think we lose at least one more to NFC east, one to a division opponent althought that may be a throw away game and one other to the AFC south. Oh I forgot the annual teeth nasher, when we should have won but still managed to lose. So thats four more losses. Final answer 11/5.

No way we're gonna lose to the Colts.

If our OL plays a little decent like they did last night, the ONLY team that could give us trouble is the Giants.

That Colts offense won't do jack against this defense.....Manning is not the same this year. Colts got lucky against the Texans.

yeah, and the sad part is WASH looked pretty horrid all thru preaseason and into the regs a little too.....at least Zorn adapts, somehow.

I'm not a good prognosticator, so I'll just say that barring injuries, this team goes as far as Big Ben and the D take it....I see no reason to think we can't get #6 this year, even if we have a few weak links.

Here's what else we should be looking at:

Baltimore Ravens Remaining Schedule
10/12/08 @ Indianapolis, 1:00 PM
10/19/08 @ Miami, 1:00 PM
10/26/08 Oakland, 1:00 PM
11/2/08 @ Cleveland, 1:00 PM
11/9/08 @ Houston, 1:00 PM
11/16/08 @ Giants, 1:00 PM
11/23/08 Philadelphia, 1:00 PM
11/30/08 @ Cincinnati, 1:00 PM
12/7/08 Washington, 1:00 PM
12/14/08 Pittsburgh, 1:00 PM
12/20/08 @ Dallas, 8:15 PM
12/28/08 Jacksonville, 1:00 PM

That's pretty fucking brutal. Anything above ten wins for us and we should be in the dance, come January.

BillvinCowbert
10-06-2008, 04:13 PM
4-2 over the next 6 seems realistic, 5-1 is pretty optimistic, 3-3 won't kill us, but it's not great.

That would put us at around 8-3 coming up against NE and Dallas. If we can get through that Dallas game and be sitting at 9-4, the outlook is pretty good. If we're 8-5, I'll be a little worried.

AT Baltimore and AT Tennessee are two very tough games. Splitting those, again, is pretty solid, but not great. Still, a split there and we could beat Cleveland to finish 11-5 and, at this rate, that could get us a bye.

I still have no clue. Our schedule gets no easier and it's not like we're playing finesse teams. Week in and week out our schedule is full of really hard hitting physical teams. Normally the Steelers only play a handful of teams a year that play really physical ball, but this year each week is brutal.

This team is as good as our QB play. Our D will keep up in any game, so it's up to our Offense to move the ball like they can. I'm worried that Ben's going to end up missing a couple of games. He can't keep taking the punishment he is every week and play well every week.

I'm still sticking with my first predictions. I think we win all of our games but the Cowboys and the Titans game. I picked the Titans game as the team we should beat but get upset against. However, now I think we stomp them. But I'm going to stick with my guns and say 13-3 with our losses coming against the Eagles, Cowboys, and Titans.

How about their OL is massive and gives Romo all day to throw? Barber and Jones are both very good runners behind that OL as well. Their D isn't that great but they can put pressure on the QB even though their secondary struggles.

10/19 Steelers @ Bengals W - the Bengals are starting to get it together, but they aren't great in any phase of the game.
10/26 Giants @ Steelers unsure - if we stop Brandon Jacobs and put pressure on Eli we win, if not, we lose.
11/3 Steelers @ Redskins W - I don't think their offense can make much noise vs our D, and our O should be able outscore them.
11/9 Colts @ Steelers unsure - we tend to whip up on Manning, then let him back in it late in the game.
11/16 Chargers @ Steelers W - they just aren't the team they were last year.
11/20 Bengals @ Steelers W - I don't see much improving for them from the last time.
11/30 Steelers @ NE W - Matt Cassel will be eaten alive by the pass rush/zone blitz
12/7 Cowboys @ Steelers unsure - I fear their ground game, they have HUGE o-lineman who really get great push.
12/14 Steelers @ Ravens W - Flacco seems to be already figured out.
12/21 Steelers @ Titans W - Their defense doesn't shut down our offense.
12/28 Browns @ Steelers W - we've corrected our OL problems, and barring injury we score more then 10 points and they still score less than 10.

I'm sure there's at least one bad game in there for a loss and the unsure games are probably losses. But 12-4, 13-3 seems likely barring injury.

I can tell you what I am looking at. 20th in rush offense, 22 in pass offense 27th overall and 18th in scoring. We need to get at least in the top 15 by seasons end if we want to be a true contender. 27th overall pretty much tells you that down the road we would lose more then we will win. We will be facing some tough offenses down the road that will score on a top D and we need to compete w/that. Granted if we get a little healthier, ie FWP, then the rushing stats should look better. I see a team w/a ton of resolve, but every week can't be so tight!

I think it really depends on how we are playing for the rest of the year. One would think that getting a healthy Parker, Hampton, and Keisel back should help us with depth. I would also say that I think we've learned a lot about players such as Stapleton, McFadden and Moore because they've made the most of their opportunities. I think there are so many other stories that will unfold this season and it is very exciting to watch and be a part of.

Fuck the Giants. They're not beating us in our house. 8-0 at home this season.. and add 2 more wins in the playoffs..

but everyone here kills me.. people were claiming 5-11 two weeks ago.. now we're gonna be 14-2.. gotta love SN.

I want home field advantage bad this year. Theres no other team in the AFC that should have a better record than us at the end of the year. Tennessee won't keep this up.

After seeing the Steelers, depleted as they are, and looking at how the rest of the schedule is playing, I'm a whole lot more optimistic than I was when the season started. IMHO, every game is very winnable. Every single one. I'm not especially scared of the Giants like some here. Who have they played? Washington, St. Louis, Cincy, and Seattle. Washington is the only good team of the bunch and they played like ass in the opener against NY. And they have Cleveland and San Fran coming up. Hell, I'd hope they'd be 6-0 with that schedule. The Giants' schedule toughens up quite a bit, starting with the Steelers. They get Pitt, Dallas, Philly and Baltimore. Then we'll find out who the Giants really are.

It really depends on how healthy we get but lets assume everyone ends up coming back for the most part and staying healthy.

BUNGLES " WIN easy. our O and Ben will pick them apart, no pressure on Ben will equal a big day from the passing game and plenty of rush yards to go with it.

G men = another win, we will be their first loss of the season and people will start talking about us and how we are starting to role.

Skins= another win, our D will be solid and again no pressure from the skins = big day for ben and the boys. we may give up a few more points then we are use to but skins have no chance to stop our O.

Colts= another win as we get talked about for being the superbowl fav and pick peyton off at least twice

chargers= loss because you have got to drop one here and there and our guys start reading the paper to much like we tend to do from time to time. All the steeler media haters drop us and say we are overrated

Bungles= win and its not worth telling you why

pats= win and get pay back, i actually think we will blow them out in their home town as we blitz cassel and get to him time and time again. by then I think moss is nursing injury that is not as bad as he is saying.

cowboys= win because homo romo is a choke king that will turn the ball over at least 2 times

ravens = win by then the ravens are out of any type of playoff picture and besides telling everyone how great they are their record will be in the red

Tenn= loss, Fisher owns us but we will have our day when it counts a few weeks after this game, Tomlin will prove to be a master in x and o's as he makes adjustments to finally beat a fisher team

clowns= win, we could beat them with our back ups in at home. For real.

makes us 13-3 with a bye and homefield. I expect to play the pats at our place first round or maybe the jets. Then in the Afc championship we beat the bills who somehow beat tenn in the division round.

We meet the G men who are playing for back to back wins but this time around Big Ben makes play after play pulling them from his ass much like Eli did with his big play last year. troy P picks off any of that floated ball shit from eli this year as the Steelers win the big one with the wrost line in football. Or by then I would hope that talk is gone and behind us.

So there you go another steeler dream season and as much as I know it may not go this way there is a big part of me that can see it happening. there is my homer look at things and until the line gets Ben killed again like the philly game, this is the way I will see it.

Go Steelers.

my 2 cents and why:

Steelers @ Bengals: W
Bengals showed a little life against Dallas, But I still think that this team is in such a state of turmoil, nothing they do will matter. They will play us tough only because of being in the conference and they hate us as we do them.

Giants @ Steelers: W
Giants are a hell of a team, but they really haven't been tested yet. I think that our OLB's can confuse and fustrate them, their running game is a concern, and if Eli is on his game he now has the tools to beat you throwing, if you stuff the run. I know they are defending champions, but I think they can be beat.

Steelers @ Redskins: L
I believe this will be a snake game. What I mean is that we win versus the Giants and the Redskins lie in wait to ambush us. low scoring contest, but they win. Zorn has this team believing it can win and thats half the battle.

Colts @ Steelers: W
Weak team and a shadow of it's former self. We have beaten them before and will do so again this year. plus outside in our stadium, our turf. this is a classic home field advantage game.

Chargers @ Steelers: W
this team is talented, but lacks heart. their self proclaimed best defensive star out, LT being very un-LT-ish and a cocky QB that really isn't all that like the talking heads would have you believe.

Bengals @ Steelers: W
See above.

Steelers @ NE: W
this is a pure vengence game, they are our worst enemy and we will leave nothing in the bag to beat them. I foresee alot of anger in this game from our defense, could be the best defensive game of the year.

Cowboys @ Steelers: L
As much as I hate to say it, this will be our let down game of the year after our win in NE.

Steelers @ Ravens: W
our team will be healthy and focused on the ravens after our loss to Dallas. We hate them with a passion and would take great delight in beating them twice. Flacco will have his worst outing of the year, but I believe they have found their Big Ben.

Steelers @ Titans:W
They are a good team, but a non mobile QB stiff starting for them will have a huge target on him and though they have a decent running game, they can be had.

Browns @ Steelers: W
because they are the browns.

so 13-3 isn't out of the realm of possibility.

It'd be sweet if the Giants can stay undefeated until then and the Steelers end the NFL longest win streak which would be...10 games?

I'm sorry but I don't see the big deal about the Titans. They look average. I'd bet by the time we play them they are 9-5 or 8-6. No way do we lose to them. I can see us losing at the Rats before we lose that game.

And how can anyone say no way we lose to the Colts but turn around and say we lose to the Pats? That team is crap and a shell of itself.
