Palmer OUT for Sunday

Fitzpatrick to start
By GEOFF HOBSON
October 10, 2008

Head coach Marvin Lewis said after practice Friday that backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will start Sunday in New York against the Jets in place of Carson Palmer, who continues to battle an elbow injury.

Fitzpatrick had a rough day in the 20-12 loss to Cleveland at Paul Brown Stadium Sept. 28. He turned it over four times on three interceptions and had a fumble off a sack.

Lewis indicated Palmer's injury is not a season-ending condition, but the club wants to try getting him some rest so it doesn't become a week-to-week situation. Lewis didn't rule out Palmer as a backup for Sunday and wouldn't say if he will be the No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback.

Saving him for us?

I bet.

An elbow injury is far from a small problem. A recovered leg injury can slow down on any scrambling but a QB with his throwing arm impaired, is no QB. Tough injury.

I doubt he plays a full game against the Steelers, if he plays at all.

The good thing about this is that their defense will be on the field ALL DAY getting beat up by that huge offensive line that the Jets boast. Looking good for next week!!!

well on the plus side, thousands of people won't have the misfortune of starting him this week. this is like a mercy killing for all palmer owners, at least for a week anyhow

At least he doesn't have Winslow's affliction, nor would he be accused of it.

You wouldn't start CP the week he plays the Steelers anyway so he is on a 2 week bye for fantasy owners.

They want him ready to play us. Hopefully Harrison and Woodley put him in his place.

I would be very surprised if Palmer lasts the whole game against us in 9 days. If the Bungles were smart they would just shut down Palmer for the year. I so can't wait for our next game.
