When you go for it on fourth and one on the first drive of the game, the Pats know they are in your head.

When the Pats answer by going for it on fourth and four on their first drive of the game, they are in your head.

You can't trade field goals for TDs against the Pats. You can't kick enough field goals to outscore them.

If you are close at the half, it's never good enough.

It's really sad when your whole defensive game plan is to bend, but don't break, and hope there is a tipped pass. Ain't gonna happen.

You will rue the day you drop a sure TD pass at the goal line against them.

If you have to play from behind, it's over.

If you have the lead late in the game, you better be ending the game with a kneel down or they will be.

I think the only chance is to score TDs every time you have the ball and make sure the last one is as the clock hits 00.

The only....and I stress, ONLY ....way to beat them (without them beating themselves) is to get a consistent pass rush with the 4 down linemen.

That's it.

The Jax gameplan was solid...the execution of it was not. After that first sack they didn't get to him again.

and score many TD's. FG's will get you nowhere.

scoring on them hasn't really been the problem. stopping them from scoring has been.

Yeah you need to be lucky enough to have your front 4 put on a ton of pressure and cover with 7. Or forget it. Blitz and they'll find the opening. Don't get pressure and he has all day to wait til someone comes open. I never realized how good their line is. Nobody ever gets through. We can only dream about a line like that.

You gotta pressure Brady up the middle. Whenever he can step up in the pocket and put mustard on it, youre askin for trouble. Rushing from the outside does very lil to effect him cuz he'll just step up and deliver a rocket. Id roll a corner or a LB up the middle in his face and flush him. He becomes very ordinary when he has to move and throw.

This is true, but even with good pressure on Brady, they will still put 4 td's on the scoreboard.

The Jax gameplan was solid...the execution of it was not. After that first sack they didn't get to him again. Well...they got to him a couple of times after pretty blatant holds...but were called for roughing the passer.

It's tough to beat them when everything breaks their way...everything.

Wrongo...as stated...the pressure MUST come HARD and FAST up the middle (see below for explanation).

Here's my take - the *'s O line gets away w/ more penalties that an other in the league - every game and all game. Holding is a rarity.

This establishment gets NO respect from me.

You pretty much have to go into the half tied and get the ball to start off the second half and be the last team to possess the ball. The Pats just haven't made any mistakes this year. If they haven't by now, I don't expect them to next week either.

I didnt say anything about which direction it came from....only that you have to be able to do it with 4 men.

so....righto

Cheaters or not, I don;t even think it matters at this point. They are dominating everyone in their path unlike I have ever seen. I hate those fuckers more than life itself, but they are just too damn good. It pains me to say that but it's true.

The differences are slight in these games.

None of the Pats miss their chances (outside of Moss, but he makes up for them at another point). It's really the most amazing part.

...but someone like Northcutt on the Jags can fail to make a play and that's pretty much it for their chances

you are right. however they have probaly been cheating for years. they have won enough that players are willing to take less in salary in order to get a chance at a ring. either way you look at it thier should be a asterick by each win. and yes i am drunk and bitter.

You're right. The winning in their past made it easier for them to win in the future, but their FO also had to be willing to take risks.

Nonsense, its all about Brady's quick release. Ben would get killed playing behind that line.

This was actually a position taken by some people here during the season.

My thoughts - they sold their souls to win it all this year. Unless the Packers top them - no team coached by Norv Turner will do it - it's theirs.

Shit on 'em. They won't run the table again. The Law of Averages and Father Time will vanquish that bunch. In the long run, no team beats them. They kick everyone's asses in the end. It may happen as early as next year. No way in hell they stay injury free two years running.

I know Brady is all-world and everything but i can't understand why there hasn't been at least one DC that said, "Fuck it, they burn us they burn us deep. Not like the end result was going to be anything different,".

Wes Welker is suddenly this year the God of all WRs? You'd think on 3rd and long and fourth downs somebody would say fuck it, we're going to blitz 6 or 7 fucking guys like bats out of hell and take our chances with pure man to man coverage on each of the Pats' 3 WRs. If you could cover them for anywhere from 0 to 2.5 seconds you'd have your sack or stop. Ok maybe you'd be absolutely burnt like toast for a touchdown 7 outta 10 times, but hell, you're bound to stop em at least fucking once.

I think the Packers match up much better against the Pats than people give them credit for.

The Patriots struggle defending the pass over the middle of the field and noone executes slants and crossing patterns better than Favre and the Packers. Also, Grant has the look of a back who could easily go 100+ on the ground against them.

Defensively, the Packers have good match up CBs and LBs who can cover underneath. They also have the 4-man line to generate a solid rush without blitzing.

I think a Packers-Patriots SB would be a great game.

I agee. It also might gets hits on Brady, At least he might feel like he was in a game. Half of the games it seems like he doesn't even get hit.

.02 cents about the Pats.

If they win the Superbowl fine but I'm not going to kiss their @sses for this season. I got bandwagon Pats fans telling me I got on the wrong jersey or jacket? My reply "Sorry historically your new found team doesn't mean sh*t to me". In fact I wouldn't have a problem if Mr.Rooney, GM Colbert, and Coach Tomlin asked the NFL for permission to move the Steelers to the AFC East division just so they can play the Pats twice a year and then dedicate this year's NFL draft & free agent signings to getting players just to beat the Pats everytime that we play them. If the Steelers went 2-14 with only victories against the Pats I wouldn't have a problem with that either. They need to exorcise this losing mentality towards them and Jacksonville.

I just want to know why Welker is open every fucking play underneath for about 5 yards. Do teams forget he's there and not bother to even try to cover the guy? A LB should just drill him at the LOS and a DB should cover him after that.

My thoughts:

They will have a hard time against my man Brett in the SB. I even will go so far as to predict that the Pack will win against them. It is Brett's time.

I also think that the Pats are like a cult....almost like Scientology. They are robotic and glassy eyed....SCARY.

If you don't put enough pressure on Brady, and get in his head, he will beat you. Smack him a few times, and you'll start to see him unravel. Unfortunately, no one has been able to do that this year.

Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to smack their receivers as well.

I am hoping there is a foot of snow on the field and that the footballs are frozen when they have to play the Chargers this Sunday.

Patriots vs Steelers thought:

Steelers, ahead by one, 3 minutes and change left: Run, run, run, punt. Lose.
Patriots, ahead by eleven, 3 minutes and change left: Run, run, safe pass, first down. Win.
