The Pro Bowl rosters will be announced tonight. Any Steeler worthy of a Pro Bowl appearance? My knee-jerk response was BB, but after looking at the stats...if there are only 3 AFC QB, I think Schaub deserves the 3rd QB spot after Manning and Rivers. Schaub is ahead of BB in QB rating, passing yards, TD, and comp.%.

I'd say no sure things on the roster this year. Are there some worthy? Maybe. Roethlsiberger, Ward (more given his style combined with his stats), Miller (career year), Woodley.
I'd also say that Troy's absence just shows that he could probably be named defensive MVP every year.

troy did very well in the fan votes, as did big snack (although he didnt finish top of the DTs), silverback ofc finished top
I doubt Troy will make it, missing all those games seams silly to have him there. I would like Big Snack to make it, but if Ngata makes it I'll be happy for him
silverback and woodley deserve to be there, hell, if I had my way woodley should be a starter
I do think that the #3 QB spot is gona be an interesting one to see, but then again, if manning or brady doesnt go, perhaps schaub and ben makes it

Miller, Woodley, and Harrison.

Woodley and Harrison should be in no doubt. Miller has made a strong case as well. It is going to be tough for Ben.

I think BB goes over Schaub, Woodley & Harison will go as well, possibly Hampton. Not many other names I would consider.

Since you have such a low opinion of the Steelers, I'm surprised you remain a fan. Even fans from other teams can name a lot of Steelers players, who deserve the honors.

Based on the numbers I'd guess that the third QB spot could go to Big Ben, Schaub, or Brady. Manning and Rivers will probably be the number 1 and 2. And as much as I hate to say it Brady will probably get the third spot on name recognition. Heath Miller should go he is having a probowl year. Santonio Holmes is currently tied for 3rd in receiving yards with Reggie Wayne so a case could be made for him. On the defensive side of the ball I personnally feel only two are worthy canidates, they being Hampton and Woodley.

Woodley, Ward, Holmes, Miller, and Ben are the only ones with a real possibility.
And Sepulveda of course.

None of the above.
Sepulveda is the 11th ranked punter in the AFC.

I think Ben is the only one with a legitimate shot. But then you've got Manning, Brady and Rivers.

Sepulvda has had a terrible year punting... No Way he gets in....
Ben only gets in if Brady or Manning doesn't play... Schaub is not better than Ben, but he's had the better year...
Woodley and Harrison are close, with Woodley being more of a lock than Harrison...
Miller should get in, but he'd be a shoe in if we didn't forget his on the field for large chunks at a time...
So, from the initial release (before they add in people for injuries and no shows) I think Woodley, Harrison, and Miller get in

I'd say, realistically, only Miller has a shot.
But Gates and Dallas Clark will probably get it.

That's ridiculous. If anyone names more than three to five and means it they're on some good shit. It doesn't matter anyways, it's just a popularity contest. I can name twenty Lions or so, should they have ten guys on the team too?

Woodley has really raised his level of play up over the last month or so. I would pick Woodley for sure. Guys I don't expect to make it, but may get the nod are Harrison, Hampton, Miller. Since the Mannings and Brady's of the world aren't all that infatuated with going Ben may get in as an alternate. Possibly Skippy as the kickoff specialist.

All-Pro is meaningful, Pro Bowl not so much. The players vote on All-Pro. I read someplace that a number of Raiders are pretty high up in the voting. Umm, yeah.
Being that the Pro Bowl will be played the week before the Super Bowl this year, you can pretty much rule out anyone on the AFC and NFC champions playing.

Yeah, unfortunately, only 2 TE go and as good a season as Heath has had and as much as he deserves it, he won't beat out Clark or Gates. The only good thing is that he should definitely be the 1st alternate and with the PB being played the week before the SB this year, probably precludes anyone from the SB teams from going and I've got a feeling that will be either the Colts or Bolts from the AFC so Heath probably will get in as a replacement.

The bolded made me chuckle. That dude blows. He's lucky he was drafted because that is the only reason he will continue punting here for the next couple years.
Anyways, the only players who even deserve a thought when it comes to the pro bowl are Ben, Hines and Santonio. That is it. And I still wouldn't put them in. Santonio would be the closest to making it but he has been a little too inconsistent this year. Same with Ben. Hines has just kinda fallen off the cliff the last handful of games. Nobody from the defense deserves shit.

coming off a knee injury, and the fact he missed all of last year, I wouldn't say he sucks. he's head and shoulders above what we had all last year. he's right around the middleof the league in avg and net avg, but he's in the top 5 in inside the 20, only has 4 touch backs, and a real shocker here, no TD's allowed. I'd say he's doing a pretty good job, not pro bowl worthy, but he definitely doesn't suck either.

Because most of the time he's kicking from inside his own 20 when Arians' first three pass plays don't get past midfield. {;-P
If his first three pass plays DO get past midfield, then usually Skippy is the one doing the kicking.
Just sayin'....

None will be selected tonight. Two or three will be invited once the SB is set. Ben will be asked to go as an alternate with Lord Brady, Manning, Rivers will be invited first. Then it will move to Schaub and Ben once Manning or Rivers go to the SB and Brady has a lower body injury. I don't care about stats. I'm sure there were qb's in Montana's era who had better stats. If you are going to say that Matt Schaub is better than Ben, then I guess he should be the starter because he is rated higher in the stats than Brady and Manning.

When he has had the opportunity, nearly every punt has landed near the 15 yard line. I can understand you don't want it to go into the endzone, but come on. Every once in awhile inside the 10 would be nice.

Actually, he is tied for 5th in the leaue in this category with 28 (tied with Lechler from Oakland)
Interesting that the top ten punters in average per kick (not net) are almost all on teams with bad offenses....they have more opportunities to just kick the hell out of the ball 'cause the offenses don't move the ball much.

I am guessing Polamalu and Harrison will make it based on their reputation. Hines Ward was #1 in receiving yards back when I voted for the Pro Bowl, so he will probably make it also.
Big Ben and Miller might make it as alternates if people ahead of them decline their invite.

Yeah, I suppose Ben has played well enough to warrant a ProBowl.
That's the 1st and only guy I thought of.

How the hell does Polamalu make it? If Polamalu makes it, then the term x amount of probowl appearances should be stricken from a HOF candidate. Polamalu didn't play this season. That would be tat amount to saying Urlacher is a Pro Bowler. That was one great game he played.
