1. Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi - Massive, strong, and durable. A mauler in the running game, quick in the passing game, still developing and has more upside than any OT in this class, save for Clady (maybe).

2. Jordy Nelson, WR, Kansas State - I feel really strongly about this guy. Only caught 122 passes for 1,660 yards and 11 TDs for my Wildcats this past year. Very good size (6'2 5/8, 215) and athleticism. Runs outstanding routes and never gets muscled around like our 3-6 WRs do. Immediate #3 and the ideal #2 to San Antonio down the road. Also our immediate return specialist - ran back punts in 2007 for TDs of 89 (vs. Texas) and 92 yards (vs. Baylor).

3. Jerod Mayo, IB, Tennessee - A three-down LB with versatility to play in or out. A serious playmaker who just flies around blockers. Creates some interesting battles among our IBs.

4. Tommy Blake, DE, Texas Christian - A total enigma. Had an incredible 2006 and looked like the next Freeney/Peppers/Kearse dominator, then missed most of 2007 with "mental issues." Seems to have been stress/anxiety-caused. Still, I've heard some call him the most talented defensive player in this draft and, should he slip, will be snagged by a good team without too many holes to fill in the draft. Like us.

5. Steve Justice, CN/OG, Wake Forest - In my opinion, the best center in this draft. Saw him play twice this year and it was like watching a 5-year nfl veteran, the guy does EVERYTHING on their line and does it well. He's smallish at around 290 but is someone's center of the future.

6. Michael Marquardt, DT/DE, Arizona State - The 3-4 end i like most in this class is Kentwan Balmer of UNC, but he projects to be gone long before this round.

I like the idea of taking a receiver pretty high.

But no cornerback in those six picks? They need one pretty bad.

I think Round 3 or 4 would be a good spot for one, maybe Round 2 if the right one is there...

I love Rodgers-Cromartie and would snag him in the 4th if available. But I think our 1 and 2 CB slots are locked up by solid young guys and our nickel corner is Deshea, whom I have no problem with.

Sure, swap Blake for Rodgers-Cromartie.

I think you're overrating the Steelers' corners.

Taylor is better than average, but not much more than that.

McFadden is average, although he still has upside.

Townsend is good, but aging.

And Gay is completely unproven.

All in all, CB should be a high priority...

I'm on board that train as well he'd give us the big tall tough receiver Ben wants and is 100% pure football player. Jordy Nelson will do anything you ask of him he kind of has a Hines Ward like mentality

I like Jordy Nelson too. I have already said that in previous posts. I think he may be the most effective WR in the class not too mention he was a former high school QB who can throw the ball. He would also dramatically improve the return game. I hope the Steelers take him.

The only thing is I don't see the draft falling the Steelers' way so that they will get him. I'm sure he'll raise eye-brows at the Senior Bowl and then at the Combine, so he could even vault into the bottom of the first round like Dwayne Bowe or Anthony Gonzalez did last year. I think he is better than Dwayne Bowe and Anthony Gonzalez at this point in time. The only questions on him are injuries and whether he has a high enough ceiling.

Maybe Nelson slips to the second round and the Steelers can swing a deal to trade away their first rounder to an Atlanta and pick up their 2nd and 3rd rounders. Then it might be doable. Tab Nelson at the top of the second round, get an OT at the bottom of the 2nd then take another OT at top of 3rd and a falling RB at the bottom of the third.

Nelson may make the Steelers' first round short list but trying to take Nelson in the first or second could screw up the Steelers draft. I think the first round target might be Jonathan Stewart RB, Oregon. From what I have seen of him he runs like Bettis lite. Simply destroys people and moves the pile. They appear to want to improve the Special teams and return positions so that alone may sway them to look hard at Nelson and maybe draft him with a high pick. Taking Stewart at 23 and Nelson in the 2nd would be a damn good start. Unfortuantely, they would miss the blue chip OT. Decisions... decisions...

Dorsey's dominant performance against Ohio State in the BCS title game was a not-so-subtle reminder of his rare abilities. The 6-foot-1, 310-pounder was back to his disruptive ways thanks to a nearly five-week layoff that allowed him to rest a nagging knee injury originally suffered on a cheap shot in the Auburn game. That said, Bill Parcells, the Dolphins new VP of football operations, will make decisions on coaches, schemes and veteran personnel between now and the draft that could steer the team in a different direction. Dorsey is strong enough to adjust to a 3-4 defensive scheme, but it wouldn't play to his strengths as a penetrating interior force. It wouldn't be cost effective for Miami to spend No. 1 money on an interior lineman in that defensive scheme, either, so OT Jake Long and DE Chris Long are also options. Stay tuned.

The season-ending injury to perennial Pro Bowl OT Orlando Pace and the Rams' overall poor play along the offensive line this season make OT Jake Long a possibility with this pick. But assuming Pace returns to form in 2008, the Rams have a much bigger need along the interior of their offensive line, which can be addressed in free agency or in later rounds. Don't be surprised if St. Louis goes with the other Long here; Chris is not a prototypical edge rusher but is still a dominant playmaker with rare versatility and a motor that never quits. The Rams could solidify their defensive line for years to come by following 2007 first-round DT Adam Carriker with Long this season.

It should also be noted that the Raiders are financially strapped and will not want to dish out top-five money one year after selecting QB JaMarcus Russell with the top overall pick. So, if McFadden is still on the board, don't count out the possibility of a blockbuster trade by owner Al Davis. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, an Arkansas alum, would certainly listen to offers.

He has the versatility to play either right or left tackle, and his combination of size, technique, athletic ability and a mean streak would improve the Chiefs' line almost immediately.

He would be an excellent addition at rush linebacker for a Jets defense that is in need of some perimeter heat out of its 3-4 front.

The next priority is to find a replacement for CB Asante Samuel, a free agent who can't be franchised for a second consecutive year, and Jenkins is currently the top-rated cornerback in a weak 2008 crop. His combination of size, speed and athleticism is outstanding and his recognition skills improved each season. Jenkins also brings versatility to the table; he can play some safety and also chip in on returns.

Laurinaitis and CB Malcolm Jenkins returning to Ohio State could end up affecting the Saints more than any other team in the draft. Cornerback and defensive tackle are New Orleans' biggest need areas and Balmer is the best available prospect at either position. Although Balmer flashes top-10 potential at times, he also could turn out to be another bust in the mold of Jonathan Sullivan, who New Orleans selected sixth overall in 2003 but traded away in 2006 after he failed to live up to his potential.

Much like Ted Ginn Jr. (No. 9 overall to Miami last season), however, Jackson's home run ability after the catch, on vertical routes and returning punts will be too tempting for a team with a top-15 draft pick to pass on.

Instead of drafting a young signal-caller who will need time to develop, look for the Panthers to bring in veteran competition for Matt Moore, who showed some signs of potential late in the season. Drafting an end like Campbell, who could make an immediate contribution, seems more prudent for Fox; Mike Rucker is expected to retire and Julius Peppers disappeared in 2007.

Stewart also could offer a boost as a kickoff returner.

Harvey isn't quite as explosive as former teammate Jarvis Moss (first round to Denver last season), but he is more naturally athletic and if groomed properly should become a more complete player in the NFL.

Phillips could be the right man for the job. He needs good coaching to improve his consistency, but there isn't a defensive back in this year's class who can stack up with Phillips' overall blend of natural physical tools.

However, the Eagles are still in search of a big-play threat at wide receiver and Kelly could finally be the answer. Unlike most big receivers, he's a smooth route-runner who knows how to separate from man-to-man coverage. Kelly also might have the strongest hands of any receiver in this year's class.

There projects to be a run of wide receivers in the bottom half of the first round before the shallow talent pool dries up and if the Redskins don't get involved here they're likely to get shut out of the wide receiver market. Sweed could become one of the steals of this year's draft; he possesses top-10 talent but will no doubt be undervalued due to a wrist injury that cut short his senior season but should have no long-term affects on his pass-catching ability.

Jones also can add value as a big-play threat as a receiver and in the return game, so keep an eye on this selection.

Regardless, he's athletic and tough enough to warrant late-first round consideration from a team like the Chargers, who are in need of an upgrade at inside linebacker.

Packers QB Brett Favre would certainly welcome the addition of a tight end like Davis, who can stretch the seam and generate yards after the catch.
