Welker believed to have torn ACL, MCL (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/03/welker-believed-to-have-torn-acl-mcl/)

The early word on Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2964) is not good.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that preliminary tests show Welker having a torn ACL and torn MCL. He is scheduled to undergo more testing on Monday, and until an MRI confirms the diagnosis Welker can hold out hope that it's not that serious, but at the moment things look grim.
A torn ACL and MCL would obviously keep Welker out of the postseason, and it would probably affect his availability for the start of training camp and possibly the start of the 2010 regular season.
Welker finishes the season as the league leader in receptions, with 123.

That's got to be a real bummer for Welker.

Yes, yes and yes! Enough of this 'tanking" crap, this is exactly what happens when you try to prove a point after you have your position all locked up.

I think Jim Caldwell and Bill Polian would probably just point at this exact scenario and say "told you so"

Lets see 3rd seed could host the AFC Championship game over the 4th Seed.. Which means about 50 million for your team and city.. I would not call that a meaningless game.
Now on the Injury itsself.. I am only sad Brady didn't get it again. Things looking good for 2010.. Screw Wes he is almost a bigger cry baby then his cock sucking buddy Brady./

I don't wish injuries on people but with the way Belicheat fucks with the injury reports and just plain acts like an asshole he deserves all the shit coming his way.

Just heard Billy boy pulled Brady in like the first and then brought him back in the 3rd. Then he pulled him again on the last drive.

The weird thing is that it was a non-contact injury. Hate to see anyone injured, even a Patriot.

Go Patriots. Hate to say it but fuck the rats. Joe Fluke-o is way over rated and the rats can't lose fast enough.

i hate injuries but love when the pats are stuck looking like morons. all the 4th down calls that blew up in their faces, the losses to Indy with big blown leads and this. i think its more terrific than tom terrific.

Welker ruined his knee trying to plant his left leg. A fluke injury. If a coach seriously believes that such injury is likely, then he would need to hold every player out of every game.
And let's see how well the "hold out the starters" teams do in the playoffs. Indy and the Saints in particular.

Sad for the Cheatriots, who gives a fuck. It was a fluke injury, nothing you can do about that. I really hope the Colts lose in 2 weeks. I am pulling for the Bungles tonight so Houston can get in, Fuck the Jets as well.

I don't understand why anyone would wish injury on a player, unless that player purposely did it to someone else.

The Jets dont deserve the playoffs. if they win tonight they played 14 reg season games and 2 extra exhibitions at the end of the year. By the way, dont know if this has been posted before, but how do you say "interception" in spanish?
"Sanchez"
BTW, i know we can point out many plays that defined our season, but I think #1 on the list is Joe Burnet dropping the pick that was thrown in between his numbers in the raider game.

I totally understand the resting of players, but when you are 14-0, you gotta take a shot at it. If the steelers were in the same boat, id want them to win too. Sure I might feel relief to "get the loss out of the way" but never to intentionally tank a game.

Special Teams is the reason we didn't get in, Defense is the reason we wouldn't have gone far even if we did get in.
It is what it is.

2nd best thing that could have happened for the ravens besides Brady going down. Moss usually gets neutralized against Ravens and now the double-team will send him back to pout town. Pats have to stop the run or they're dead.

The #3 wr for the Pats, Edleman, is pretty good, though, and the Ravens corners are pretty bad.

when I saw the welker injury I figured it was an acl tear, it looked brutal, but it could have easily happened next week in the wild card game, you never know when a player is going to get hurt, you rest your starters and think you got the world by the ass, then the next game you play one of them goes down, you cannot predict this stuff, the best thing is to play the game as if it means everything, every time you step on the field, and if injuries happen so be it, I will take that over laying down and losing your momentum, just because it is the so called right thing to do, and any of these team who think they got the world by the ass, because they wrapped everything up, and they feel they don't have nothing left to play for, I will LMAO at them when they get beat in the playoffs from this mind set !!!!

so when did Brady get hurt last year? ah thats right, the very first game of the season. When did Palmer go down in 04? ah thats right, first round of the playoffs. injuries happen, he could have easily done it last week, two weeks ago, two weeks from now... and it wasn't a meaningless game, the #3 and #4 seeds were up for grabs, and there is quite a difference between the two.
The weird thing is that it was a non-contact injury. Hate to see anyone injured, even a Patriot.
yeah, it was definitely awkward, kind of like Parker going down week 16 a few years ago, fluke injury, hate to see it, tough break...
Never would I wish an injury like that on any player even a *Patriot.

It's a horrible injury and the rehab is brutal...and to wish it on someone or say you're glad it happened shows you're a donkey. HeeHaw.

Every time a Patriot player gets hurt, the media act as if it's some national disaster. Here's the simple fact: Football players play. Football players get hurt.
Wonder how long it will take the NFL to issue a "Welker Rule" ?? The Pats are a bunch of wussies.
