ESPN broadcaster Mike Greenberg is apologizing for saying the words "Martin Luther Coon" on his morning radio show.


The words were spoken on Martin Luther King Day.

The SportsCenter anchor and Mike and Mike in the Morning co-host says he was "talking too fast -- and slurring my words" when he committed the gaffe on the radio Monday.

Greenberg issued an online apology stating "I would never say anything like that, not in public, or in private, or in the silence of my own mind." He said he felt "horrible" about the words.

Um... I don't see how anyone can come to the conclusion Greenberg is a racist based solely on that piece of video. It was as clear as day that he simply fudged the words "King Jr". People slip up when talking all the time. He talks fast, so he ended up tongue-tied. He immediately corrected himself and didn't even look like he knew what he'd said. There is NO WAY he meant to say that. And nothing I have ever heard from him or about him would indicate to me that it was a Freudian slip, made because he actually uses that terminology.
