for the Pro Bowl this season I think you should have your voting rights revoked. Let's make a few things clear. I like Troy, I'm glad he's a Steeler but BY NO MEANS is he having a Pro Bowl season here in 2007. Between the games missed due to injury & his performance when he has played he's not even close to a Pro Bowler(this season). I'm all for supporting "our" guys but I try to be fair & deserving when I vote. He didn't get mine that's for sure. I'm also sure he got some of the player/coaches portion of the vote based on name recognition only.

The Pro Bowl is NOTHING more than a popularity contest. It has nothing to do with how well you play.

Doc,
You're right but I try to vote for who is deserving regardless of what name is on their jersey, Steelerwise I voted for Roethlisberger, J.Harrison & Willie Parker. Alan Faneca got voted on the team, but I also didn't vote for him this particular season, that being said imagine how scary our OLine would be if he wasn't on it(next season?)

I am still amazed at how many people think Troy did absolutely nothing this year. Sure, he was injured and sure he may have not had his best year but he still had a very good year. Deserving of the pro bowl - maybe, maybe not. I certainly wouldn't say he wasn't close. I think he was still top 10 in the entire NFL at safety and possibly the tail end of the top 5.

Yeah, he didn't deserve it this year or probably last year (mostly due to games missed from injury), but oh well. I'm not gonna complain.

Anyone actually watch the Pro Bowl anyways?

Yep, last football I'll get to see for about 7 months. I watch it every year.

With Ben & Willie in this year, it'll be a higher priority than the SB this year. Esp. if it's *Pats/Dal.

That is one SB that I probably would not watch.

Wouldn't you love it if the score were 3 - 3 in the 4th OT and still going? They would deserve that kind of snoozer.

For me you can delete the word probably. I refuse to support either of those teams in any way, shape or form.

A miami vs. San Fran SB would suit me fine but not the above teams.

With regards to Troy, I'm not going to let injury be a factor, nor am i going to blame him for the rather assinine role that LeBeau has dreamed up for him. He is a proven stud Safety, he has as much ability as any other S in this league, and his mouth doesn't run faster than his feet.

He is a pro bowler in my books.

I would watch any Super Bowl - I hate the Pats the most this year so unless that gas leak explosion comes, I'd be rooting for the Cowgirls.

I do not watch the Pro Bowl. It's a popularity contest and the guys only give 50%.

I do vote and I don't automatically vote every Steeler. That is why it is a popularity contest. I try and vote for who deserves it. This year I voted for Ben, Willie, Silverback and Hampton.

I find it interesting Fred Taylor has never made a pro bowl.

Yep. I even went to a Pro Bowl game once.

Id like to be in Hawaii during the pro bowl. But not for the game. That would be surely based on being on a tropical island with over 100 pro football players. I'll just stop there. :D

He should be a Hall of Famer if they judged him by his stats against the Steelers.

I like the skills competition better than actual game, but I watch the game if there are Steelers in it.

The Pro Bowl sucks. Players don't even go all-out for obvious reasons. Ever pay attention to the line of scrimmage during a game on a pass play? They literally stand there.

I hate the NBA but their All-Star game is fuckin' amazing. The NHL's is pretty good too. Baseball? Eh, it's all right.

Troy Polomalu deserves to be on the roster more so than Ray Ray Lewis or Mike Vrabel.

I agree that the pro-bowl is a popularity contest. I don't personnally pay much attention to it. The games usually aren't that exciting. I do vote for all Steelers regardless.

What about those who voted for Faneca? Are you kidding me?

A lot of the fan voting seems to be homers of any team who vote for any of their players regardless of performance - and aren't satisfied with doing it only once, like a fair vote, or people who just don't know and go on name recognition or past performances.

Voting more than once is dishonest. The NFL should log IPs or make voters register to vote and eliminate the ballot box-stuffing homers. That would be the case if the NFL cared about fairness, honesty, or integrity.
