Casserly said on NFL Today that having it spread out so much would likely mean more trades than usual.

Well, we could come out early and make a week of it. If so, I am getting on a the list for a new liver, now.

So they fuck up the format that teams use to draw fans for their fanfest activities? Goddell can die in a fire.

Goodell is slowly ruining the league.

Not so freaking slowly. Spygate FU, Pro Bowl FU, Draft FU, Merchandising FU, TV rights FU. You can't get blood from a stone Roger, give up already!

Roger only cares about the TV revenue. Spread over the weekend is more TV money than the teams make by hosting a Fan Fest on Saturday.
"F the Fans, we don't need their stinking $50 bucks for hotdogs and hats, ESPN paid us $50 million..."

Yep, Goodell is a huge idiot. All about the $$.

I still think Roger Goodell is trying to model this year's NFL Draft like the highly TV rated Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament which has rounds that start on a Thursday and ends on a Sunday. Sooner or later we'll all be filling out office Tournament Brackets, ...err I mean Draft Brackets and using multiple mock drafts info as our source.

I like the format...

For 4 days Chris Mortensen and Adam Shefter will be all over the ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, the ESPN info crawler at the bottom the of the screen with alleged reports & unnamed sources (along with Kiper & McShay's mock opinions mixed in) like kids tanked up on sugar.

01-25-2010, 12:13 PM
So that means Kiper will be on air for 4 days? FUCK!!!

Really not that big a deal for me. I'll watch the first round until the Steelers pick, then read about the rest on the net.

To sit through and watch the entire draft tells me you have no life.

Well, there can still be a party on Saturday. The draft will still be going on, the first few rounds are over, and everyone can focus less on the wait for each pick and just drunkenly debate over the picks of the last few days.

Like we need an excuse to party...Pittsburgh could use the four day revenue heh.

It's a non issue with me. I'll still watch on all 3 days. The hardest thing will be getting used to the Thurs and Fri night format. So the whole production will not be crammed into 2 whirlwind days?.....no big deal.

thursday night is obviously putting an end to any draft party get togethers
fuck captain rog for yet another teeth kicking to the fans

I'm probably in the minority here but I think this could be an interesting change.

Imagine the debate on this board on Friday after Rd 1, Saturday after Rds 2 and 3 about who the Steelers need to pick with our next selection.

I think it could lead to a fun week on the message board.

01-25-2010, 05:09 PM
lol i can see it now..half the board will be defending the pick and half the board will hate the pick. and the debate will last for 3 years and many threads will be deleted and/ or merged with similar threads

it is all Mike Greenberg's fault! He was saying he was Thirsty for the Draft and they thought he said Thursday is the draft. So they changed it...

I don't get what was wrong w/the original format? Why take something that has tremendous popularity and make it more difficult for the follower/viewer? I sure as hell won't be making plans to catch 3 days. I have way too much to do in my life to make sure I can sit and watch Thur-Sat. Thems party days in my life!

Nothing was wrong with the original format. The commish is just trying to capitalize on the popularity of the draft by cashing in over 3 days in prime-time, rather than a prolonged draft over the weekend.

So, let me get this straight, it's easier to follow it over two days on the weekend, than it is to catch it after work on thurs and fri, and then have a get together to discuss and debate on sat? Heck, I would think this would be a plus for a Saturday gathering, at least you'd have something to talk about before 8pm. Oh well, it's just me, and we DVR everything anyway, so I'm fine with a few days of fun recordings to watch.

I kind of like watching how the draft unfolds, what trades are made, who moves up or down, surprise picks, etc.....I ususally reserve all Saturday and half of Sunday for it. BBQ, Mayock, and Kiper discussing picks...what more could you ask for?

The first round or two has some entertainment value, because they are the most valuable picks.. the rest? meh

The 3 months of endless, mindless mock drafts leading up to it is what I fear the most.

Another idea would be to spread the superbowl over 4 nights, one quarter each. Sure the fans would hate it, but maybe they could make more money. To hell with traditions I say!

I'm with you. These guys who spend hundreds of hours researching and posting 150 mock drafts......and never get a single player correct......have some sort of disability. Or really, really need a life.

When ESPN first started airing the draft it was on during the day on like Wednesday and Thursday.

Why can't we have a Thursday night Round 1 party? what the hell is wrong with you people?

So we can take over opposing stadiums every other week but can't take over a local bar/restaurant for a single night in our own home town?

this makes it impossible for me to watch this year because of the time diference. Lets get this right, they changed the round times because it took ages to do the 1st round a few years ago, now they are going to have the first round at 7PM, and the first round takes about 4-5 hours.....fuckin cleaver mr goddell

These guys can guess no better than anyone here. After the 5th pick or so, everything they predicted is usually wrong. I could think of plenty of things I'd rather or need to do than waste my time watching these so called "experts" analyze the draft. Wash my truck, play some golf, go fishing, mow my lawn........

heres a drinking game you can play this year

everytime Mayock says "I like this pick" when a guy gets drafted, you chug a beer
