Hey TMC and others, any names on here that catch your eye? It seems the Steelers have a pretty good read on the less-heralded players out there. I wonder if we'll be seeing any of these guys on our draft board, middle rounds and later: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/blog/rob-rang/22083960/diamonds-in-the-rough-2013-is-matt-scott-the-next-russell-wilson

Jack Doyle is an interesting late round TE. Do not know that I care for the others. More rough than diamond.

Brice Butler WR San Diego State 6'3: 205 pounds , 4.39 forty

He played for USC before transferring to SDS, this guy is big, ecent hands and can take the top off the defense, great late round pick with great upside

Not sure Alford,Webb and Wilcox are unknowns after their all-star/combine performances. And all 3 fit our needs.

Dont know about the others but I think that Jayson Dimanche may come off the board earlier than you think.

Dimanche is a bit similar to Chris Carter. He likely will go anywhere from the 5th round on.

As evidenced by the number of NFL players that seem to come out of nowhere and make decent careers, there will be some that do not show up on any radars this year too.

There is a guy, listed as a LB who played Nickel and S for Memphis who is considered a FA prospect named Akeem Davis. (I'll expect to hear it from TMC on this guy being from Memphis)

He has a highlight tape that makes him look like a superstar. It's under "Akeem Davis Memphis highlights"

He is over 6' and 200# and just ran 4.45 and 4.48 at the Memphis pro day. He is a high character guy and looks to me (level of competition being his only issue) like a direct replacement for Troy on tape.

I don't know how many times he bumps a receiver/TE at the line and just pancakes them. Pretty funny and a good watch. If he was playing at a higher profile school everyone would know him but he might be a guy we could get for nothing at the end of the draft who might surprise.

I know I am a FNG, but I wouldn't mind a late round pick spent on Polk the FS from CU. He plays faster than his 40 time would predict, is fearless, and he has the size to be that "back field linebacker" we like our safeties to play. Would be a project no doubt, but with our aging Safety positions I think he could become an exciting player in the black and gold.

A guy I hope comes in as a rookie free agent after the draft is DE Pete Massaro from Penn State. He's 6'3 254 and would have to play OLB in the 3-4. He had some injury issues in college but he's a total effort player. The steelers could use a few more of those. He'd be a good special teamer and could likely be stashed on the practice squad while he makes the conversion to OLB.
