Pittsburgh Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert was one of the better interviews of the day. Since the Steelers don't have a chance at landing Virginia defensive end Chris Long, Colbert was pretty forthcoming.

"He's as NFL ready as you can find for the 3-4 [defensive scheme]," said Colbert. "He's the perfect 3-4 defensive end. He could also stand up and be a linebacker. He's rare for a college lineman."

Colbert said teams have already done 80 percent of the work on players before the combine begins. He said quarterback is the most difficult position to judge during drills.

"Their timing is usually off because they're using different receivers, so when a kid looks good, it's a bonus. The majority of them don't throw well. You have to be real careful with the quarterback in these drills."

Colbert recently read an article about how Ben Roethlisberger threw poorly during the combine.

"Honestly I can't remember that," he said.

Colbert said he's most interested in finding out about a player's family during the team interview portion of the combine. Those interviews will begin tonight and last four hours. My guy Martellus Bennett said he had three interviews lined up, but he hasn't been tipped off about which teams he'll be talking to.

Colbert said that coach Mike Tomlin led the interviews, but the club also brings in a psychologist to ask some "different" questions. The psychologist isn't a full-time employee, but the Steelers use him for every combine.

The end of that article is one of the reasons for the large character difference between the Steelers and say the Bengals.

Turnover Tommy, obviously had "long-term solution" written all over him. Grab Andrews to protect Maddox, and give Maddox all day to sit back and liter his stat-line with INTs.

I certainly loved him during his "Cinderella Season". Shame he wasn't able to repeat that performance afterward.

That's right, I saw a commercial this morning with Andrews on NFL network about his draft experience. He was the guy they wanted.

Maddox got undue criticisms. He was good value.

Besides, in case you aint noticed, Ben is starting to put up a high number of pick6's himself. Here's a tidbit to chew on, Ben has thrown a pick 6 in every home playoff game he has started.

Here's another tidbit to chew on. There are probably 20 starting quarterbacks in the NFL that have never played the position well enough to give their team a home playoff game.

Ben will throw more than his share of INTs. His INT% has been among the worst in the NFL every year since he has been in the league.

Ben likes to push the ball downfield and hates to checkdown, which leads to a fair number of INTs. It is just part of his game.

Guys, all I'm getting at is we signed Maddox off an XFL roster. what the hell did you expect? The guy still managed to lead us to the second rd of the playoffs one season, and in fact, was putting up points so fast that season that if supported by a decent defense, who knows how far that team would have gone. The acting job Nedney didnt help either.

We got good use out of tommy. and you all need to fess up and admit you were hyped up with that offense that season when maddox was marching the team up and down the field with ease.

come to think of it, if that special olymipian Plaxishit didnt drop that easy 3rd down conversion, they would have won that game at Tenn.

What? Except for the 2006 season with 23 ints, Ben has been very low in the NFL in int percentage, this year he threw 11 ints in over 400 attempts.
