First New England loses and now this........................good times!
http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/02/26/sean-salisbury-leaves-espn/
NFL analyst Sean Salisbury is leaving ESPN, he and the network said in a joint statement today.
In the statement, Salisbury said this:
"I want to thank ESPN for 12 great years of talking football on TV and the radio. I have grown as much as I can at ESPN and decided to expand my horizons. I have created a brand and it's time to expand into other opportunities in TV, radio, Internet, publishing, movies and public speaking, among others. My resume speaks for itself as a football analyst, and I believe I can talk all sports with the best of them."
It is not clear what Salisbury plans to do with the brand he has created, but it's hard to believe he could find a more prominent outlet for his work than the Worldwide Leader.
ESPN's brief statement said, "Sean Salisbury has made many contributions to our efforts for the past 12 years. We thank him and wish him all the best."
Salisbury had brief stints as a quarterback for the Seahawks, Colts, Vikings and Chargers. He has also served as play-by-play man on BattleBots and appeared in the movies The Benchwarmers and The Longest Yard.

He wasn't as bad as Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin or Keyshawn Johnson but he wasn't as good as Tom Jackson, Merril Hodge or Ron Jaworski. I don't know about the Salisbury brand unless its frozen dinners.

I'd bet $50 he got canned and this was just a nice way of doing it.
wasn't Dan Patrick going to be more famous when he left too?

He wasn't the worst on ESPN, but I won't miss him either. I'm still trying to figure out what this 'brand' is that he is talking about. He can't seriously be that full of himself.

. I have created a brand
What 'brand' would that be? A bandwagon-riding sports commentator that brought the cluelessness of his playing days into the studio?

You know, he was the cock in Benchwarmers, and the cock on ESPN. The Salisbury Cock Brand...

Maybe Sailsbury was the person who was sending those meltdown clips of Chris Berman to the YouTube site?
I'd bet $50 he got canned and this was just a nice way of doing it.
I agree with this one since I don't think he has enough going for him to strike out on his own.

I realize the know-it-all schtick is a favorite among sports analysts these days, but Salisbury's never worked. He just came across as a pompous ass without contributing anything thought-provoking to a discussion whatsoever. Skip Bayless also annoys me using a similar over-the-top style, but at least he occasionally finds a halfway decent point to push.

I certainly will not miss that wish-washy dork.

I liked him as a football analyst, he knew he wasn't that good of a player, so he didn't come off as the "I was awesome and I know everything" type guy like some of the others.

It's guys like Salisbury that make the NFL Network seem that much better than ESPN, so I guess he contributed something in his life

Jim and Randy on DVE were saying a couple weeks ago that Salisbury was supposedly a real ass and used his cell phone to take a picture of his junk and e-mail to his co-workers.

You mean STEAKS? Or are you putting gravy on those things that hold your tent down?
He won't be missed to much, and at least his ego hasn't got out of control while creating his new brand.

Dumbass? Who paid him for 12 years of BS?
Just where does the ESPN castoff run off to? Not like there is some other "network" out there. Unless one counts the NFL network as one. (quit laughing)
So ESPN did not want to meet his contract demands. Hopefully he's saved up some cash.

Salisbury was real cool people. He always looked our for those who worked at ESPN but never got any thanks for doing their job. If he was a dick, he was a dick to those in "suits".
That's a lie about him hating John Clayton. They're good friends.
I've heard he may have a deal with XM/Sirius radio. That's the new cash cow now. Subscriber radio.

He wasn't the worst, but often I'd hear someone ask an opinion and he'd say, "Well what do you think?" the person would answer and Sean would say "that's exactly what I think, too." It's like he didn't have many of his own opinions, or he felt the need to agree with people most of the time.
