So, you've decided to join the thousands of people that have become members of Steeler Nation. Congratulations on this monumental occasion in your life.

Here are a couple of pointers to get you started and to help make your time here a success!

Why does it say FNG under my name?
FNG stands for F**king New Guy/Girl. It's a warning to other Steeler Nation members that you are new here and are learning the ins and outs of the community. It's serves as a reminder to all to welcome you warmly and to take it a little easier on you. After 100 posts, you will be given the tag of Citizen.

How can I upload my own avatar?
If you've been paying attention (and we know that you haven't), you would know that uploading your own avatar is a feature reserved for those members making a monetary donation to help offset the costs of running our servers. You may make a donation by clicking here: http://www.steelernation.com/forums/payments.php

Making a donation also enables you to upload signature graphics, have access to private forums and participate in exclusive contests.

Why do certain words appear upside down and backwards?
As with any community, we have certain traditions. One of our traditions is that once the Steelers secure a spot in the playoffs, we no longer speak of the NFL Championship game until the Steelers become one of the two teams playing in it. To help reinforce this idea, when anyone types the name of that particular game, the board software will automatically change it's display to print it upside down and/or backwards.

Hey! The moderators are abusive and they treat people unfairly!
Thank you for your interest in Steeler Nation. We hope you enjoy your stay and can't wait to read all of the wonderful insight that we just know you will bring to the board.
