First, according to the Post Gazette, with the release of Cedric Wilson, the Steelers have 2.3M in cap space, and that would include all the signings.

Keith Butler, the Steelers linebacker coach, attended the Georgia Pro Day. Now, 13 players worked out, but the most notable LB prospect was Marcus Howard, a DE that will be forced to move to LB. He is only 6004, 237 pounds, which is smallish, even for an OLB in our scheme (he is heavier but a touch shorter than Timmons). Here is the thing, he is a fucking beast off the edge. He only started last year, but he recorded 10.5 sacks and 41 total tackles. He is not going to hold the point of attack that well, but he is a premier pass rusher and can drop and cover. He really caught everyone's attention by running a 4.45 forty at the combine, but the numbers that really interest me are the bench and 10-yard split. He benched 225-27 times and his 10-yard split was 1.47, which would have placed him tied for the 5th fastest of the CORNERBACKS. One corner ran 1.45 and three hit 1.46. He is expected to be a mid-round pick.

Florida center Drew Miller is getting a lot of positive reaction from his outstanding workout on Tuesday. So much so that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is scheduled to do a one-on-one interview with the Gator lineman. I'll be fucking sick if the Pats get Drew Miller.

Even after a combine workout which was below expectations, Iowa defensive back Charles Godfrey has drawn an incredible amount of interest from teams around the league. Godfrey will workout for scouts next week at the Hawkeye pro-day yet already has personal workouts set up with the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys. He will also be visiting the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, New York Giants, St. Louis Rams and will be brought into Cleveland for a visit after his workout. ***The below expectations combine numbers were:
Forty-4.42
Bench-14
Cone-4.4
Shuttle-7.28
VJ-32.5"
BJ-10'1"
He measured in at 5110-207, which is pretty thick for a DB.
Also, the Browns are looking exclusively at cornerbacks for next month's draft. Every visit/interview I see them listed with is a corner.

The Steelers talked with Marshall QB Bernard Morris.

I really like Godfrey, but as a safety convert. I think he could be an ok corner in the NFL, but an elite safety.

Thanks TMC - I'm seeing a good replacement for Harrison w/ Keith Butler...I actually see alot of DeMeco Ryans (I wish we woulda picked him) in his bio...

I'm not a big fan of Godfrey, even though he showed big improvement in his senior year, he couldn't cover anyone his junior year.

I wouldn't mind picking Marcus Howard. Being that he ran a 4.45 at the combine, his college production is not surprising.

the real question is whether we save it for the draft or try to sign another player to the vet minimum. might use the money to resign starks.

Isn't the 7 Million plus for Starks already counted against our cap?
