Any doubt that Jerry Jones would do it bigger?

The largest NFL stadium ever built is designed to enhance the international Cowboys brand with its modern progressive architecture while incorporating elements of the Texas Stadium Cowboys heritage such as the shape of the roof's opening and the Ring of Honor.

The 2.3 million square-foot stadium will have an approximate capacity of 80,000 and the flexibility to accommodate up to 100,000 fans. The stadium features signature monumental arches, an expansive retractable roof, massive glass retractable end zone doors, a distinguishing canted glass wall, and the world's largest center-hung video board.

The stadium design incorporates two open end zones with glass retractable doors measuring 120 feet high and 180 feet wide, making them the tallest glass retractable doors in the world. These doors open in 18 minutes. The plazas outside these doors, one in each end zone - along with the three party decks in each end zone - create over 420,000 square feet of entertainment space, or approximately 10 acres. This space gives the stadium great flexibility with its capacity. These areas will be great spaces for people to gather before, during and after events to socialize and experience a unique interactive experience.

The field is actually 50 feet below ground level, so fans entering on the plaza level will have a panoramic view over the field. The end zone area will have the flexibility to convert from standing-room only to seating, based on specific event needs. Media boards and large-screen monitors add entertainment to the area, and create a festival atmosphere.

This stadium costs has now swelled to over $1 BILLION dollars.

My wife's uncle has had a box at Texas Stadium since the beginning of time. They're all "Texas this and Texas that". That's nice.

No amount of stadium will make Jerry's pee-pee bigger. It's the team, how they play, and their fans.

I like our town. I like our team. I like our fans.

There really is no bad seat in the house, The Great Hall is amazing and I feel it represents the fans and team rather well. Nothing too fancy and it's made for football, period. The facitlity is definitly an upgrade over TRS. No roof, no turf, no overspending. I think it's a great venue to see a game.

Think a poll by the people here might tell a different story. Heinz is OK but not a great stadium by todays standards.

thesteelcity
03-30-2008, 10:51 PM
today's standards? it opened in 2001, not 1981. I don't know what you really want in a stadium? They needed luxary boxes to compete and they provided them. They needed state-of-the-art lockerrooms and accomplished that. When you enter Heinz, do you feel you are in Steeler Country? With The Great Hall, view of the City of Pittsburgh and gold seats, I say "yes"!

This is the reason the owners can't agree on anything. This is why you will see the end of the CBA and although most common fans think that means the players would be happy with on CBA and no cap you are wrong. No CBA means no Retirement for the players which means nothing to todays million dollar boys but the Family of Mike Webster will get nothing and thats not even a tenth of the impact of no CBA.

So you guessed it no CBA no play. you will see a strike if the owners can't agree.

I really can't blame the small owners at all. They should have a limit as to how much money you get towards a new stadium, then if you want to add to that and build a billion dollar stadium then fine go for it. however the money from the other owners should stop at a certain price.

MT~Forged
03-31-2008, 12:37 AM
I never understood why Heinz Field was made about 5-10,000 seats larger. With the waiting list what it is, I think they could have sold them every game.

But then again if you build it that much larger then you don't have as many people fighting for tickets and driving the prices up.

I was there for the Seahawks game this past season, I believe we, the fans, helped cause at least 4 false starts.

I love Heinz Field. It is perfect for the Steelers, their tradition and the city.

There is not a bad seat in the house either!

If you want a cheap stadium go to San Diego.

Having been to many games at Three Rivers and some games at Heinz Field, there is no comparing the sound level, Three Rivers was much louder. Attributable to the circular design, the concrete and the type of new fan going to the games at Heinz.

Why are you ragging on the stadium so much? I like it. The only point you've made that I agree with is that it doesn't retain sound as well as TRS did. Otherwise, it's great. I love the Great Hall and the spiral walways where the fans stand to watch the games. The only other complaint I have is they keep screwing with the parking and tailgating. I miss that much more than TRS.

It is very far along in its process and the building itself doesn't look any better than the renderings. I am not a fan of it, or any other stadium with a roof/retractable roof. I actually think the Colts new stadium is much more unique looking.

Wow you really have to give it to Jerry Jones for keeping the best interests of the league and other franchises in mind when he put this into motion. I drive a jacked-up Jeep and I never make that 'wonder if he's making up for something' comment, but this is the pinnacle of self-absorbed BS. It's obvious Jerry wants to leave a lasting mark after he's gone, and this will be it if he is successful. I despise everything about that franchise.
