View Full Version : Hoping that the Steeler Trade with Atlanta

guards are rare and few in this draft. that is why the steelers have had visits with supposed tackle projects like jeremy zuttah and mike mcglynn, but they will probably used as G/ backup C to hartwig and stapleton.
i have a feeling that atlanta will beg for our pick if brian brohm is still on the draft board, and we will get two more second rounders or and second and third:
R2- quentin groves, DE/LB
R2- antoine cason, CB
R2/3- kendall langford, DL
R3- jeremy zuttah, OL
R4- mike mcglynn, OL
R5- adarius bowman, WR
R6- jamie silvia, S
groves is in the next great steeler front seven. cason becomes the backup/starter by 2009. langford provides great depth on the DL which has old Dl starting. both zuttah and mcglynnprovide depth on the OL and one of them could start by 2009. bowman gives us the tall WR. silvia provides depth and is a solid special teams performer. langford becomes a wedge.
if this would be the actual draft, we would be amazing come next season. i expect us to be amazing anyway, but these guys would only help.

i wouldnt mind also if the kendall langford and jeremy zuttah picks were flip-flopped.

While we're hoping....put me down for the lottery thing tomorrow. Also, I'd really like to have sex with Eva Mendes, too.

ATL also got a 3rd round comp pick....I'd imagine they'll be really aggressive in trying to trade up into the first round w/one of their seconds. Of course, it's not like their roster is overflowing with talent so you never know.
I don't know the trade calculator stuff, but would a trade of our (23) for their (34) net us their (48) in return? Would that make it even?
There are some scenarios that such a trade would seem appealing. But I don't know...if Quentin Groves is there at #23, he won't be at #34. And he is worth the #23 pick.

Perhaps our first and third would net their 34/48, but I strongly doubt they would give their 2-2nds for our #1.

Just in case you guys want to keep tabs on the Falcons.

Btw Rich McKay isn't the GM making the calls on picks or trades. Its new GM Thomas Dimitroff.

probably not...but they do have the #37 pick and the #68 pick also. No excuse to "burn" picks, but they are in a position to overpay a bit. It seems to me that moving up 10 spots, back into the 1st round should be worth the #48 overall. Look what CLE paid to make a similar move last year.

A trade down that works chart wise is their 2 early 2nds(34, 37 I believe) and their 4th for our first/2nd/4th.
I'd take Bryant and Hardy with the 2 2nds, as neither is likely to be there at our 2nd, but would be a bit of a reach for our #1.

the falcons will be trigger happy and desperate when brohm, their Qb of the future shows up during our pick. hell, i anticipate them calling us first. but i would also call them. and as previously stated, these are the ATLANTA FALCONS we are talking about. with a new GM, he will want to be at the top of league again, ASAP.

Hey I'm not going to knock your hustle but this new GM came from the Patriots organization and was a player scout for them. I'm sure he's good with a camcorder but what makes you so sure they want Brohm? They could be looking for another Tom Brady clone in the 2nd-3rd rounds? Give us the scoop kid on what you know?

Our 23rd is a value of 760.
#34 is a value of 560
#48 is a value of 420
#68 is a value of 250
#103 is a value of 88
For our #1 a possible deal would be 34 and 68. Likely no Albert, Otah or the BC tackle.
Players like Nicks,Campbell perhaps Stewart and now add to that at 68 the addition of a King,Lee or Barrett.
A classic 2 for 1 trade but we do have a few holes to fill.

Yea I caught that too.
It used to be that we all had a pretty good idea of the Steeler's draft needs. But in the Tomlin era, where we're not sure of his schemes or player style, it's adding a auora of uncertainty to these drafts. The Steelers have many needs, and trading into the second round sounds like a damn good idea to me.
I'm throwing one hell of a Bar-BQ, drinking my home brew, and feed my curiousity one draft pick at a time come the 26th. Until then, I haven't the faintest idea of who the Steelers have on their draft board.

because choosing Jessica Alba over a complete woman like Eva Mendes is a dead giveaway of your age.
