Nothing on these sites as of right now. But word around the city is the Falcons are on the fence about drafting either Dorsey or Ryan.

Atlanta has the sought after pick this year in that they are the only ones high enough willing to give it up for the right price. It will be kinda interesting but I don't believe a word until Saturday... all fluff.

I'm really curious to know what is the source of his info. There hasn't been much local news on what direction the Falcons are going in (trades or draft projections) Their F.O.claimed awhile ago they have a lot of needs, several picks, a new GM from the Patriots staff and a new Head Coach from the Jaguars staff who said they will stop the run on Defense and run the ball on Offense.

Two #2's or a 2,3,4 for 23?
I don't know about that.
Depends on who's left when we pick.
If they did all three of their 2's, then hell yeah.
But look at past teams, just last year as a matter of fact, and what they gave up to get back in the first round.
Better come up with more than that.

Look at the value chart - it's a #2 and a #3 (based on the picks that they have) to move up to #23. Anything more than that and Atlanta were either desperate or they overpaid.

Let them overpay us. I heard this too. From a caller to The Afternoon Blitz just asking if it would be a good idea. Could have been Blanks disguising his voice
It could be a situational trade where the details are worked out ahead of time and the trigger pulled if a certain player the Falcons need is there at #23. With the clock shortened from 15 minutes to 10...many team are more apt to do some back door deals.

A 2nd and 3rd would be about a +50 for us on the value chart. If a #7 was tossed in kudos for us. If it was 2 #2's or a 2 3 4 it would be a major overpayment by Atlanta.
You know there will be a war in the war room if a top 15 talent is on the board and that type of trade offer is made.
This is what makes the draft great. If we like Groves for example and believe he would still fall to us at say 34 then you have to roll the dice. Risk and sometimes reward.
One thing for sure a 100 rumors still to come between now and Saturday at 3pm.

While that should be considered theft that would be an amazing trade down offer. Too bad that it won't happen that way.
The Falcons could move into the teens (value wise) with picks 34 and 48. I would take them the minute the offer was concrete.
The thing is, you would have just went from getting Cherilus (or a sliding OT/Stewart) to getting TWO players, such as Groves, Avril, Hardy, Baker, or maybe even STILL get a sliding Cherilus.
In this draft, at our position, unless we catch a slider, 23 is not that much greater than 34 and tossing in 48 is huge.

How far does Mayo slide? I still think we may be looking at ILB, eventhough it hasn't been listed as a major need.
I do not think Mayo is there at #23. He is being considered as one of the top LBs, even challenging Rivers in some debates. Both should go top 20. Of course, that will push someone else down. What you have saw is the LBs, WRs, CBs, and RBs that were undervalued a month ago have began to re-establish themselves and they will do this at the sake of other positions. Word is Williams, Clady, and Otah have dipped some (Otah and Clady were considered top 5, now one is out of the top 10 and the other is close to being out). Some of the DEs have slipped, especially after the top 3.
IMO, trades will dictate this first round.....probably more than usual.
I also read this morning that the Saints are shopping Jamal Brown in a deal to attempt to move up and get Dorsey. Brown and #10......IF I were the Rams, that deal would be done.

So I don't need to worry anymore over the next 36 hours.

So what is this "source's" feelings about a trade now? I mean, you started this thread, gettin' us all worked up about a GREAT trade option...
And now all we have is a hard dick...

In all honesty, the only way this scenario even starts to unfold this way is for the Rams to take Chris Long instead of Dorsey. I think Dorsey is who Atlanta is targeting with 1.3. That would allow Atlanta to wait until later in the round to trade up for a QB.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Saints trade up and grab Dorsey, who they are very high on and is a hometown hero of sorts, would put asses in the seats.

That's crazy talk. I wouldn't give up a young LT that good for Dorsey straight up, let alone throw in #10.
There's no way that can be legit.

Thanks Supe. And just for that I'll have our weather man wish up a hurricane for your part of Florida. Hope you can float.
Nothing major in the local papers about any moves or trades. I did catch one radio show this afternoon (790am) and they were still repeating the same info...Falcons will take Dorsey unless the Rams do. If Dorsey isn't there they'll take Ryan...unless they wan't to wait until their next pick at 34# and grab one of the leftover QB's on the board.
Ryan, Dorsey: Could one become a Falcon?
By Steve Wyche | Thursday, April 24, 2008, 03:12 PM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
New York - After Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan stepped down off his podium at a final pre-draft media function at Chelsea Piers, I introduced myself and told him I was the Falcons beat writer for the AJC.
“Maybe I’ll see you down there soon,” Ryan said.
Maybe.
He doesn’t know. Nobody but the Falcons really know.
Shortly before that, LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey said he’d love to play for Atlanta. He too, didn’t know if that would happen, though.
Until St. Louis makes its pick at No. 2 Saturday, anything and everything right now is just a guess. The Rams are still said to be deliberating between Dorsey and Virginia DE Chris Long, with a split contingent of coaches and personnel types wanting each.
As for Ryan and Dorsey, both said their dealings with the Falcons were very impressive. Both said they met team owner Arthur Blank and that he was the only owner from any team to take the time to meet with them. Neither felt it gave any indication to what the team would do, although Dorsey said he thought Atlanta was very interested since it recently called him back for a second interview.
Ryan, Dorsey, Virginia DE Chris Long, Michigan OT Jake Long (he already signed with Miami at No. 1), Ohio State DE Vernon Gholston and RB Darren McFadden took part in the media conference. It was part of whirlwind day that included appearances on the morning TV circuit, an event with kids and Central Park and a ton of photo ops.
All the guys were very polished and well-mannered, which are qualities that helped them reach such high regard in this draft. All said they will spend the next few days doing their best to quell their anxiety, but, as Dorsey said “It’s impossible.” http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/falcons/entries/2008/04/24/ryan_and_dorsey.html

I'd be happy with a 2nd and a 4th provided we could finally find a stud in the 4th in this recent era! Off the top of my pointed head, we suck after the first two or three rounds in recent times!
