Maybe this is new news to me but I did not know McFarland failed his physical. I was wondering why I hadn't seen him in any OTA pictures or the voluntary workout pictures. Here goes the link that explains it....he could have provided some depth on DL...

Steelers: McFarland not signed; Haggans leaves, Warren stays

The Steelers appeared set to sign free-agent defensive lineman Anthony McFarland on Tuesday night. But after working him out Wednesday morning, they withdrew their offer.

A Steelers spokesman said late Wednesday afternoon that no deal has been struck with McFarland.

Apparently, McFarland flunked his physical. A 10-year veteran with 85 career starts, McFarland missed last season with a knee injury. McFarland played for Tampa Bay and Indianapolis.

Meanwhile, the Steelers did re-sign long-snapper Greg Warren. A restricted free agent, Warren agreed to a three-year contract worth $2.3 million with a signing bonus of $395,000.

In other free agent news, former Steelers linebacker Clark Haggans signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

Return to Original Buzz Up PrintPITTSBURGH (Ticker) - Anthony “Booger” McFarland has reportedly reached a contract agreement with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on its web site Wednesday that the veteran defensive tackle agreed to terms with the club late Tuesday after meeting with team officials and passing a physical.

McFarland, 30, was released last month by the Indianapolis Colts when he failed a team physical.

Acquired by Indianapolis in a trade with Tampa Bay in October 2006, McFarland was a key contributor for the Colts’ run defense during their championship season two years ago.

However, the former first-round pick spent all of last season on injured reserve due to an knee injury.

The 6-0, 300-pound McFarland is likely to serve in a backup role in Pittsburgh.

I wish he had passed his physical, just so we could have a guy on the team called "Booger"!! I might have even gotten a custom jersey with Booger on the back!
