View Full Version : ANOTHER FU for LARRY FOOTE, CLARK HAGGANS & NICK EASON....

LARRY FOOTE - This guy is a cerebral LB'er but a terrible athlete. He is always stonewalled on his blitzes or upended trying to leap a O-linemen. He lacks the speed and strength to play ILB in the 3-4. I wouldn't mind seeing us give Timmons some more playtime on the inside.
CLARK HAGGANS - He's not as bad as Larry Foote but he doesn't have the strength that a guy like James Harrison does. Seeing LaMarr Woodley sitting on the bench in favor of Clark Haggans is almost criminal. When I see Woodley in the game I get jacked up just looking at the size of this kid. He looks like Levon Kirkland out there. He's gotta see the field more.
If we can get Timmons & Woodley into the game more I think we can remedy the lack of a pass rush by getting 2 guys that are quicker and stronger than our current starting LB'ers. I'm willing to trade off the experience we would loose to have the better athlete in there.
NICK EASON - What a joke! I know Tomlin said in his press conference that Hoke doesn't play DE. Well there's no time like the present to get him some experience. Nick Eason shouldn't even be starting on any roster.

Haggans is our weak link and has been. Foote had a bad game, but he's a pretty solid player, we could do alot better there, but also alot worse. Haggans can't cover, got sucked in on a play fake that would've gone to the left, away from him, that allowed Garrard to roll out and have all day to throw the TD, and the worst part is he can't rush the passer at all, he beat the TE once today and then it looked like he didn't even try to sack the QB. Woodley should be the guy there.

Cmon Coryea....ya gotta admit to the fact that Foote never gets pressure on his blitzes. He practically takes himself out of the play by trying to leap over linemen or RB's and anyone even I could block his sorry ass.
If you could take Foote or Timmons who would you play? Timmons speed is something that will give O-lines trouble on blitzes.

I totally agree on Foote, he's not that great of a blitzer, but our ILB's have never been great blitzers because they aren't asked to do that to much, exception Bell. Foote is a very smart player and is pretty good vs the run, which is his primary job. I would love to see Timmons get a shot there, no question, or even more Harrison in for Foote and let Timmons play ROLB. Haggans primary job is to rush the passer and he's horrible at it, and he can't cover and can't play the run to boot. We have a guy in Woodley is exactly what we need at LOLB. 6'2" 270lbs, big enough to take on OT's and has some pass rush moves, Haggans has one move because he's too tall and too light.

OK let me rephrase what I'm trying to say. When Foote is asked to blitz he takes himself out of the play by being st00pid and trying to leap over linemen. He takes himself out of the play. He should stay on his feet and try to make a play instead of taking himself out of the play.

I agree, but he blitzes maybe 5 times a game, on average. While Haggans rushes the passer a ton and takes himself out of the play with that damn looping outside rush that never works. If Haggans could get pressure on the QB, we wouldn't need to blitz the ILB's as much.
I'm all for replacing both, but if I had to pick just one to replace, it'd be Haggans.

Foote missed and easy int and broke up a potential int for Smith today. Very bad game for Larry.

What pisses me off is that Woodley comes in for a play, nearly gets a sack, then he goes MIA. I think he only saw 2-3 plays after that one.

We all know Eason sucks. Haggans is fucking useless this year. Another Gildon.

Haggans HOPEFULLY just showed his coaches 60 minutes of tape on why NOT to offer him a contract this off-season.
SO, when do we determine that we can't do any WORSE with Woodley in there?
Come on Tomlin, the reason we LIKED you is because you WEREN'T Cowher, don't give in to that Veteran Presence Bullshit...

Foote should never be sent up the gut or lately on the edge, he lacks the size, speed & strength, he is no K Bell and Lebeau has to accept it, could it possibly hurt to try pairing someone else on the cross blitz Im sure a beast like Lamar would generate a better rush or challenge the OL more.
Lebeau I think perhaps has lost his passion or is just to stubborn to change, that 2-4-5 package was effective when Smith & hoke where the DL and Peezy has on the edge from 04-05.
Now inadeqaute.
It so damm preditacble as well they would'nt stop it vs Brady make me puke and it just got uglier and uglier now without Aaron we lack good enough front 3, as both back ups suck, can thank that to poor drafting this draft when we hopefully look for a guy to draft to spell Smith and groom him more to play LE find a guy a big ugly that has experience as a clogger & run stuffer in it some one 6"5 310 hopefully find another Kimo.
Maybe in the spring Mcbean will be bigger and ready to play in a 3-4 hopefully at least 300, he seems to have the attributes to play both DE & DT, could be asset down the road.
We now with the lack of talent on the DL should incorporate some 4-3 we have more guys that can contribute in that aside from Hampton & Brett no one else can, when you talk 4-3 all of the back ups have experience in it.
A front 7 of
Kiesiel
Hampton
Hoke
Woodley
Harrison
Farrior
Haggans
should do better vs the run as dipshits like Eason & Travis would have less rub stop responsibility as both DT's would gather enough attention that either shit bag could play adequately, Lamar was a beast as a DE he can play OLB they just not letting him.
a stud like him should at least be a regular rotating defender.
I said it yesterday at our tailgate, and I'll say it again here.....our ILBs aren't strong enough. They don't get push on blitzes and are getting handled bu ol. Time for more strength on the inside.

I agree that is a problem, but in the 3-4, the pressure and sacks always have come from the OLB, Harrison is doing a good job with 8 sacks, but Haggans is horrible, he needs to be replaced NOW, he's not strong enough to do anything but try to beat the OT around the edge and the OT simply pushes him 4 yards downfield away from the QB. Woodley is stronger, plays with better leverage, and has a few different pass rush moves.

Agreed, time for Haggans to go, NOW!!
Do we REALLY need his last game to be a Playoff game where he provides NO IMPACT?!?!
I'd rather YESTERDAY be his last game, and we play a Rookie with more upside and potential, who might provide us ONE more play than Haggans would in the playoffs...

From what I understand it's true. Listening to the radio this morning and on WDVE they quoted Haggans as saying "The only way I won't start is if my heart stops beating."
So yeah, sadly it looks like we won't be able to see Woodley.

I think we need to start Woodley and Foote and the only reason I say Foote is we don't want to start 2 rookies. I think Woodley would make an impact and hopefully get some pressure off Foote and maybe he could turn it around. Don't get me wrong I would like to see both Woodley and Timmons on the fiels but I just don't think it is wise right now at the same time. But all this is just talk if Haggens says he is playing!

Yeah, not too big on Haggans this season at all. Can't see him sticking around with Wood and Timmons waiting in the wings.
As for Foote...he's got that..."foot thing" he does on big plays...umm, that's cool, right?
