Looks like it should be a really good game. I know it's not the Steelers but it's real NFL football and it should be two playoff teams (Chargers vs Saints).
Can't wait.

Cool to hear Slaine. Nice to see you get to see some "REAL" football live. Enjoy it.

Thanks guys - the Dolphins/Giants game was a bit of a washout but I did get to shout "Eli you suck" - justifiably at the time. It's a great stadium to watch football. We weren't in the nosebleed seats but were reasonably high up and this was our view:

Go Saints. you can't pull for the AFC rival

Strange that - I always pull for the AFC when it's a game that I don't give a shit about.

The Saints can't change the Steelers' playoff seeding. SD can.
That's enough to give a shit about.

Congrats Slaine! Are your seats in the same area as last year? From that pic it looked like you were undercover which was a good thing given all the rain at last years game.

The only other way that I get to see NFL football is on TV. Take a choice - no live football at all or live football between two exciting playoff teams. No brainer for me.
And the seats are lower level end zone, seven rows back. Here's hoping that the weather doesn't do a repeat performance.

I heard the tickets sold out in 90 minutes and I was wondering if you got yours. Enjoy!

I understand but it's just me, I would wait a lifetime just to see my team and no other. I would go see college games but I wouldn't waste my flow on 2 NFL teams that suck...IMO, and that I hate. I guess it is a good excuse to possibly get laid and drunk. Have a blast and post some pics, I hope you get some sick cheerleader pics, or cheerleader dudes for the ladies around here. (Always thinking of you females.)

Well that moment for me ended up with our XL super bowl champions LOSING to the dismal and pathetic Raiders in Oakland. That was such a fine treat.

Wow - Oakland or San Francisco - that's a kind of tough choice isn't it? ;)
And Avoid - I hear you but I don't have the option of college, just local UK teams who have improved a lot but let's face it, it's probably somewhere between high school and Division 1AA depending on who you're watching so when an NFL team comes to town I have to think that it's worth it. Hell, I paid to watch the Dolphins last year!

slaine, I'm curious to what the reaction of the locals was to last years game?
Is it just a novelty, gimmick, thing for them or did some people actually enjoy it?
Is there any excitement for this year's game?
I don't really care about Goodell's global aspirations for football, I'm just curious to see if people really give a crap about it or it's just a waste of travel time for the two teams. Not for you of course. :)

There are a lot of die-hards at the game. I work in a small office of 30 people and there are two other guys that are pretty hard core NFL fans here. I doubt that that is an objective survey but our Sports broadcaster here (Sky) keeps on adding games and ramping up the coverage.
The coverage last year was live games all year with one game from the 3pm, one game from the 6pm and the Sunday evening game being shown live on Sunday and the Monday night game shown too. We also have an interactive option to switch to a different game for the 3pm/6pm slots which is great if you're stuck with a clunker or if your team is being shown.
So I'd say there's a big appetite for the game with a core group of fans. Couldn't tell you the figures but Wembley holds 90,000 so it's at least that many!

I'll be there too! Missed out last year but in hindsight watching the game and seeing the weather, I'm not too upset :)
The appetite for (American) football is growing steadily over here, it might just have reached the peek it made in the 80s before taking a massive nose dive but with the international series it is likely to keep on growing. Granted it will never be fully understood by most who dismiss it simply as 'rugby with padding' but there are those who genuinely put the time into it and will continue to follow the league for years to come.

one of my trips to iceland i ran into some NFL fans there too (49ers fans)... my question i guess is how do you even get into the sport in the first place? has there always been coverage... i'm just curious.

Coverage started in the early 80's and it was a bit of a novelty. More people watched it and it just took off. I think that the Bears superbowl win was probably about the highlight. People that have never seen a game will probably still tell you about "The Fridge" if asked about American football.
I personally got in to it because I liked the strategy that's involved. It really is a chess match but played at 100mph.
