Nfldraftcountdown.com by Scott Wright just posted his grade on the Steelers Draft. Worth a look at by one of the best in the business.

"After getting excellent values with their first two picks the Steelers reached a bit for UCLA defensive end Bruce Davis in round three. An extremely productive pass rusher who compiled 42.5 TFL and 29.0 sacks during his college career, Davis will be making the move to outside linebacker at the next level and should be a good fit in the Steelers 3-4 scheme. With James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley entrenched as starters Davis will battle for a backup job and he would seem to be a logical replacement for Clark Haggans, who left as a free agent this offseason."

Um...wtf? The guy was doing fine up to this point.

I think Davis was a great pick but I've seen too many people fail to make the transition to the NFL because of the learning curve and speed. Having said that, with his motor and first step I think Davis has a great shot with the Steelers.

Davis will eventually take over for Harrison if his play falls or if he wants mega cash after this year.

I think that's what everyone expects to see.

No question Bruce Davis will eventually replace James Harrison. Although with Woodley busting out this year, Harrison should have another big year.

Davis I guess knew he would have to add weight, I believe heading into the year he was listed at 6"3 236 and himself into better shape to be either a OLB or stay as a DE by getting to 252.
