About 75% of these would be personal fouls in todays NFL....

A lot of those head shots are dangerous. I don't blame them for those types of penalties.

I think that was Don Beebe....

I was just watching this same video this past week. Not as many of those hits that you think would be penalties today, yeah the head hunting helmet to helmet shit would but outside of that, aren't those hts fucking awesome.

My chances of taking any one those hits without crying: ZERO.

I wish there weren't so many damn rule changes on that kind of stuff. Imagine if they were still allowed to go all out brutal like back then? Damn that would be sweet seeing Woodley or Hampton jack up Brady or Palmer.

Of the present QB's in the NFL, only a few could stand up to that type of punishment.

Tom Brady is not one of them. One guy we know can take punishment and keep playing - Ben. I think that Manning is another, since he is never hurt, is a big guy, and has taken some pretty huge hits and kept playing.

I remember watching that hit back when it happened. It is one of the hits that I have never forgotten.

I wish it was like then, where it was a PHYSICAL game.
Players, especially QBs are pampered wimps these days, most couldn't take a good hit.

That Atwater hit on the Nigerian Nightmare is still amazing. Knocked him on his ass. Great hit.

Many of those hits would not be flagged today either.

And I love posts like this. I'm sure your job as an accountant or whatever you do is very dangerous but...

There is a reason why a lot of these guys end up as cripples and have a ton of medical issues as they age. They know the risks they take and are fairly compensated for it. But lets not pretend like pro football is not a physical game these days. Thats just silly.

Ben missed time every year. Those hits would end his career like they did Steve Young's

Steve Young took some shots that were horrifying. The fact that he played as long as he did was amazing.

Only one man can stand up to that type of punishment. That man is Jared "J-Load" Lorenzen 6'4 inches of living breathing shock absorption.

I remember he was 290lbs and 22% body fat at the combine. I bet he is down to a svelte 285lbs now.
