....is one we have followed for decades. We simply must get back to it. Look at the teams playing good ball....Jax, NE, Indy, Dallas, GB....and what do these teams have in common? Solid, even spectacular, line play on both sides of the ball. A good O-line can make a Super Bowl winner out of an average QB (see: Dilfer, Trent....and Rypien, Mark)

The Jaguars O-line made us look absolutely silly today. I give them a punchers chance of beating NE if they meet. No way in hell we even sniff another Super Bowl until we fix this.

At this point I'm not sure if the performance today was so much poor play by our D as it was spectacular play by their line. Either way.....draft and free agency had better be used to do something.

Rant over.

I thought all we needed was a big back and our running game would be alright? Willie hasn't done shit this year.

What it comes down to is controlling T.O.P.

Keep the ball in our O's hands and wear their D out.

That's what happened to us today.

i think the steelers have the skill players on offence but with this line they are lucky to have 9 wins.40 sacks on ben ,not counting how many he has avoided by being such a talent and playing with heart.i know on the other thread they are talking about ben and him resigning or not all i know if for some crazy reason he isnt here this team will not have a chance to be competitive for many years.and the defence is overrated, they can no longer come up with the big stops they have always come up with.last week the pats throw all over them and this week the jags run all over them.

It's by sheer physical strength and determination that Ben hasn't been sacked 70 times already. Granted, not all of that is the line's fault, but damn....Garrard and Brady had all fkn day to throw. That's not an accident, folks.

It's a miracle that he hasn't been sacked a 100 times.

Every damn play he is running for his life.

Absolutely, on both sides of the line we need help. Our pass rush disappeared sometime in early November, I wish it would come back.

I remember 3 years ago how our o-line was considered by many to be the best in the NFL..

How things change so quick.

That's been my song and dance for years. You control the LOS, you win the game. Our draft and free agents should be, for the most part, O and D linemen.

The OL and DL can definitely make or break a team.

Last time I can remember was the Fred Taylor 234 yd game a few years back.

Our line has been manhandled on multiple occasions this year. The defense too. It's not going to get fixed overnight. The draft is a crapshoot where we pick at every year. Our scouting department has to do a better job and find a couple reasonably priced free agents to bring in. It doesn't have to be a stud to be an upgrade over what we have now.

2000. Jacksonville has been punching the Steelers in the mouth for years. Sadly, I feel these last two games have shown us what this team will be for the rest of the season.

I agree we need OL and DL help. Lots of it.

From day ONE..the Jags were built to beat the Steelers. They started in our division and realized from the beginning that to be where they wanted to be the road went through Pittsburgh. It shows even today, 12 years later. One of the post game announcers said that the Jags "out-Steelered" us today. Good reason for that.

Absolutely.

Okay, just checking!

Although I liked what Arians brough to the Offense EARLY ON - throwing to the TE, mixing up the pass-on-first down plays, etc.. - he surely seems to have his head up his ass when it comes to crunch time.

HOW COME when we see the success Brady and Manning have in running the no-huddle offense - AND when we allow Ben to do it - do we NOT realize perhaps this is the best thing to run ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!!

Our last two second half adjustments - on both sides of the ball - have been horrendous. ONLY when our back is up against the wall do we open up the offense more.

EVERYBODY throws the quick slants against us, and we only call them when it's WAY WAY too late.

At least we have been dump-passing to Willie the last couple weeks, but it's looked like Cowher/Marty-ball the last two second halfs, coupled with stupid-ass cutesy no-reason BS.

BAH!

PEACE

I'll say it again as I have said for the past couple of years. We need big uglies on both sides of the ball. We should not have anyone on either line that is below 300 lbs and they should be at least 315. If you can't man the trenches, you can not win. I don't care how good your skilled players are. Put two more Casey Hamptons on the d-line and no one runs on us.

I agree our d-line is horrible. besides Hamp. We need some beef and hoke, kirshke, eason and mcbean aint scaring nobody. I honestly think I could beat out 2-3 of those spairs. Has anyone seen Dallas D-line? Marcus Spears, Jay Ratliff, Tank johnson, chris canty, jason hatcher, Stephen Bowens, and jason ferguson. Now that is a D line all are huge and look at that depth. Then you add demarcus ware at 6'4 and greg ellis at 6'5 on the ends as stand up 3-4 lb's. That is what we need. We need size and depth to compete with the big boys.

Baltimore abused us with their defense. The Jaguars pounded our once proud defense into another dimension. Humiliating, actually.

I can deal with a team putting 400 yards on the Steelers through the air, but when a team runs for 150 or 200 yards on the Steelers, my blood boils.

Same here. The Steelers need to play physical football and we just got beat up defensively. It was embarrassing to watch.

What's so darn funny. That's a fact.

The OL works means RBs are given holes to run through and gives the QB an extra second or two to scan the field for receivers.

DL works means they will not allow runners to get yardage and rushes and/or sacks the QB.

You win or lose the game at the LOS.
