FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The new Pro Football Hall of Fame Class announced today has a distinct Pittsburgh flavor. Three former players with connections to the city were elected to the seven-member Class of 2010.

Two former Pitt Panthers teammates, offensive lineman Russ Grimm and linebacker Rickey Jackson, joined longtime Steelers assistant coach Dick LeBeau in the seven-member class.

NEW YORK, Feb. 1 -- truTV is revealing its first-ever Super Bowl ad today, giving viewers an early glimpse at how the network will bring NFL fans what they've always wanted – six more weeks of football. Leave it to always-blunt veteran nose tackle Casey Hampton to say what the Steelers won't about the team's offseason plans to re-sign some of their unrestricted free agents.

During an interview with the Tribune-Review last week, Hampton said he wants to finish his career with the team that drafted him in 2001. He also said the Steelers passed up the opportunity to re-sign him last offseason, so why should he turn cartwheels (picture that visual, if you will) for the chance to stay with the team that no longer considers him a priority?

"You didn't feel that strong about signing me before the season, so why is it such a big issue for you to try to keep me now?" Hampton responded.

Talk about telling it like it is.

Whether he remains a Steeler, Jeff Reed figures to make a ton of money in the not-too-distant future.

Several teams will enter free agency in March looking for a clutch kicker like Reed, who is one of the Steelers’ potential unrestricted free agents.

Reed was miffed before the 2009 season started because the Steelers low-balled him with a contract extension. Reed turned down the offer, basically insinuating it was an insult. He also said he would eventually get what he deserves, whether the big bucks come from the Steelers or from another NFL team.

Myron Rolle is the kind of young man any father would like for his daughter to marry.

Rolle graduated from Florida State in 3 1/2 years and bypassed riches as a likely high pick in last year's NFL Draft after becoming the first major-college football player of his generation to accept a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in England.

College football teams are notorious for exaggerating the heights/weights and speeds of their athletes. The official weigh-in and measurements at all-star games and the Scouting Combine provide a truer picture of each player's actual size.

Some players come in smaller or lighter than expected and could see a slip down draft boards as a result. Others pleasantly surprised by measuring in taller or clearly spending some time in the gym or weight room since the end of the season.

Tight end Heath Miller this morning accepted an invitation to play in Sunday's Pro Bowl, joining three Steelers teammates on the AFC roster in the NFL all-star game.

Miller replaces the Indianapolis Colts' Dallas Clark, who cannot play in the Pro Bowl because he will be in the Super Bowl.
