NFW.......the worst scenario I can see is that he may have to sit a game or two for being a dumb ass in public. If I were Ben I'd be more worried about Dan when he gets off that plane from Ireland.
With the talent we have at WR, TE and RB (catching the ball) Dennis Dixon does not fit this offense at all. We are not a first option only read and run the ball if covered QB system. I'm thinking if this case is still going on....and charges are brought.....Ben will be looking at a significant ban and a ticket out of town.
Are there any gun slingers in this years draft that can be had in the 3rd or later?

I think Dixon will be just fine.

Ben will be our starter and Dixon will back him up. We will then either sign a low-priced vet (pennington, collins, etc) or take a QB in the 5th to 7th round (like we have been known to do with the likes of St Pierre, Gonzalez, Omar Jacobs, etc)

Harris: Roethlisberger's troubles give Steelers pause

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW

Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert has been fond of saying that drafting a quarterback isn't in the team's plans.
You couldn't blame Colbert for having second thoughts.
Maybe the Steelers should consider selecting a quarterback in next month's NFL Draft, or signing a veteran signal-caller -- just in case.
Because when it comes to Ben Roethlisberger, you never know.
Of course, the second incident in less than a year linking Roethlisberger with a sexual assault may turn out to be a false alarm if an investigation by Georgia law enforcement officials exonerates him.
But that doesn't mean life should return to normal as Roethlisberger and the Steelers know it.
How much, the Steelers have to be asking, is enough?
I'm just disappointed that Dixon wasn't there pulling hoes with Ben. Maybe he doesn't have the intangibles it takes to be a true Pro Bowl QB.
" We're gonna turn over stones."
I think some people are naive if they think that Ben is just going to get off scott free. And IF he gets convicted of anything there's no way the Steelers are going to have the face of their organization be a sex felon. Hopefully the woman is lying. But if she's not, then all of a sudden the Steelers have a very difficult decision to make.
Funny, I'm strangely comfortable with Dennis Dixon being the starting QB. Not because of any assuredness I have about Dixon, but I have always kind of liked that underdog role.
I wonder if this thing with Ben, if he doesn't get nailed with a felony and jail time, could actually work out for the better in the long run. Finally, perhaps, Ben will wake up and realize what he is in risk of losing, and will take seriously the job of being an NFL QB. Look how good he is now, could you imagine if he focused on the game more and quit screwing around? If he worked harder on the little things? If he actually threw in the offseason? He's what 28? He is entering that prime time for QBs, supposedly when everything comes together.
If I was the Steelers, regardless of the outcome in Georgia, Ben's ass would sit the first 4 games of the season. Maybe they can do it since there is no CBA. Maybe the commish will take care of it for them, but I do it if not. Show who the hell is in charge. I don't worry so much about one year if I can get Ben squared away for the rest of his career. As an added benefit, if Dixon plays well, perhaps there would be a trade market for him later if Ben gets his act together.
I remember well when Ben used to be a look then run QB. In fact, I think his reluctance to run since his bike accident has been one of the big reasons why our Offense has sucked for three years. Yeah... Ben's good at coming from behind, but I would rather have a QB who keeps us from falling behind in the first place. I was very impressed with Dixon during the pre-season and in the Baltimore game, and actually prefer him to Ben.
As for drafting, I say we get Tebow. I know... all the Gator Haters out there will whine about his passing mechanics, his throws, how he's over-rated, etc., but many you of you are the same folks who laughed when I suggested we draft Harvin last year, and look how that deal turned out. Tebow's never been considered good enough to do any of the things he's done... until he gets there and wildly surpasses the expectations of his doubters. I would not mind seeing Tebow become the #2 abd Ben headed off to Dallas or Cinncinnati. :)
Sorry Superman. Since his accident, when I look at Roethlisberger, all I see is a taller/whiter version of Kordell Stewart - flashes of brilliance interspersed with hours of mediocre play.
There will be a league suspension coming no matter what, IMO. Best case scenario he was in a ladies room trying to bang a 20 year old while drunk. He got a pass from Goodall on horseface, I think he is looking at 4 games right now, no matter what, which lead me to start this thread. We need to draft a guy and sign a guy.
Wow...I dont think Ben and Kordell are anything alike. When we beat AZ in the superbowl I dont see kordell having that kinda game. Also in the 2005 playoffs ben tore it up and i think kordell would have folded. I kinda see your point of having mediocre play w/ flashes of brilliance, but Kordell's play was not even mediocre most of the time. Kordell had one good year and most people jumped on his bandwagon, but after that he was horrible. Ben lost his comback magic last year, but he is many many strides ahead of kordell.
As for drafting a QB, I think Dixon can be good he just needs some time. We also need to throw in some designed runs to keep defenses off balance. I still think we should take a QB in the draft, but no earlier than the third round. I do not trust Ben and his "womanizing kills" and sooner or later he will get burnt innocent or not. I am not a Tebow/Gator hater or lover, but I do believe if Tebow can make it as a pro QB it would be in our offense He is big, strong, fairly mobile, and has a strong arm. If Tebow can keep plays alive like Ben, our receivers have the ability to get very open and Tebow just has to chuck it in a general area. If he throws well at pro day, then I think we should take a long look at Tebow, but I have a feeling he wont last till 3rd round.
I don't even see how he's going to get off at all, unless the woman is caught telling somebody something contrary to what she has said already, much like the woman in Reno. Otherwise, no jury in Georgia is going to believe him over a local college student. If his semen is inside her, and she says she didn't want it there, he could be in big trouble.
