I think its a good sign its been over a week and BR hasnt been charged with anything yet. I am really hoping that the GBI comes back with, BR will not be charged as a result of this investigation. If there is a charge, I feel it will be a lesser charge of battery or disorderly conduct. Once that is done there will obviously be a civil suit.
I think what is next for BR could be worse.....the Rooney's, the Steelers, and more media. I dont think they (Rooneys) are getting rid of him, however I can guarantee this will be the last straw for them and they will make sure BR knows it. We can only hope BR gets his head on straight, becomes a better man, and uses this incident to motivate him. I could see another RING coming from this if it affects BR the way it should.
I think its obvious that I dont want to believe BR could do this.....however this may be the kick in the A$$ he needs to get his life together. Everything happens for a reason....

He had two previous ass-kicking events that should have made him wake up. What makes anyone think a third one will do it? I`m hoping he does, but he is beginning to look like a serial eff-up.

Isn't that the truth?! Cutting Ben outright would be foolish. He would come back and kick the Steelers' asses every time they played. If he is found guilty and/or the NFL suspends him indefinitely , a la Vick, they may cut him. But I can't see them doing it before something drastic like that happens. And Ben knows that. He needs to come to his own conclusions that he is a screw-up.

Okay, I am not defending Ben or trying to justify his actions. I'm am greatly disappointed in what Ben is becoming.
From his first days with the Steelers Ben used to wear the "PFJ" (Play for Jesus) moniker on his shoes I believe. His actions of late really seem to be taking him in another direction away from the faith he was raised in. If I heard correctly, Ben's family has recently stated, "This isn't him". They are just as dumbfounded by his actions.
So as it was suggested in the original thread by another poster, and forgive me for not remembering who stated it, maybe it's time to really sit Ben down and investigate his neurological problems.
I argued with people last year about Ben being "one good concussion" away from ending his career. And his life as "he" knows it, really. We have 4 girls in our gym with post concussion syndrome from 2 years ago. Only one of them hit her head while in our gym. The other three had accidents at school.
But the symptoms persist. They can be fine for weeks then all of a sudden, a skill will bring out the effects of the concussion from yesteryear. We shut them down immediately and make them get reevaluated by their Dr's.
Ben took a tremendous hit in that motorcycle accident. Almost 3 years ago some of you may remember that a friend of mine was basically killed in a motorcycle accident too. No helmet, he hit face first into a culvert sign and he miraculously survived. Well, today because of the "brain shearing" that he experienced, he is a different person. His judgement is clouded most times. He refused to continue on with his physical therapy to help deal with this brain injury and as it stands today, he will be getting a divorce because his wife can no longer handle his immature behavior.
One of the conditions of this man's therapy was to never have alcohol again in his life. The Dr warned him that alcohol could easily set him back in regards to the progress of his brain. It took 7 months and he went back on the alcohol. Precisely as the Dr warned, he has regressed from the drinking.
Looking at Ben we see he's not only had a traumatic head injury, but also factor in the other traumatic head injuries he received against the Falcons, the Ravens and the Browns. I cannot fathom for one second how Ben is truthfully able to pass his baseline tests, and how Dr. Maroon and company are let him on the field after these events. On top of the documented head injuries he's taken, we have to also factor in Ben's drinking habits. If my friend was warned not to drink, ever again, I'm willing to be the same advice would've been practical for Ben's head trauma. I have no idea of knowing if Ben was given this advice, however.
I am submitting that we all take a loooooooong hard look at the mental status of our $100 million quarterback and consider he's acting immature because mentally, he has become immature from a physical condition.
I worked in a personal care home for a year and half and had plenty of access to the dementia unit. These poor people regressed to teenage years in their minds. Not only were they acting like teenagers, they were carrying on past conversations from those very same teenage years they once lived.

Some may ask how an athlete can still perform despite this type of injury. Ben is a professional first, and he's also a very tough man. Like professional boxers, these men are trained to ignore the pain and work in "instinct". The drills are called that for a reason. It is drilled into their total being so they instinctively react in a manner positive to their sport. It becomes impulse for them.
While Ben may be able to function "decent" in the field, I think we need to look at his play of late as well. Ben IMO has a hard time finding the receivers on most timing patterns. Ben is much better at improvising, which is what his college team allowed him to do. He is a backyard QB first and foremost, even though the Steelers were training him against those mechanisms when Whizenhunt was OC.
I starting to wonder if Ben's not able to process the speed of the quick timing patterns as well now, when the play is designed as such. He instead succeeds on brute force and improvising. Yes, it's his trademark, but not the prototypical way any NFL team wants their QB to perform on the field.
Every time Ben is hit HAS to be considered now that his career longevity is being drastically reduced upon impact with the ground or player. That is my opinion right now. His family certainly knows Ben best. While he may be an arrogant person inside, that may always have been his trait. But this exercisement of bad judgement, and his attitude of being "owed" things because of his status doesn't seem to be in line with the original, base version of Ben that first showed up in Steelers training camp.
The guy IS different. Something IS wrong. I'm not trying to be in denial about this. If he's guilty he needs to pay, it's that simple. But for the sake of his life and not his football career, someone in the Steelers organization should reexamine this guy's mental processors.
I am starting to suspect that all of Ben's head trauma is the root of Ben's immature behavior.

Ben isn't going anywhere. Steelers may stand for values in a league that sometimes is hurting for some but they aren't stupid. Trading or releasing Ben would set this franchise back about 8-10 years. I for one wouldn't want that as a fan.

I can't buy into the whole "a good woman would stabilize Ben" theory. I mean, including this incident, he's already had three "come to Jesus" moments in his life. If he doesn't learn to protect himself from this sort of thing from now on, then the guy is dumber than a sock full of nickels. I mean, you would have thought the McNutty thing would have been enough. Look, I'm not saying don't go out and bang as much quiff as you can. Just try to be more careful. You are Big Ben. You have a $100 million contract. You've won two Super Bowls. EVERYONE knows who you are. Even 20 year old college co-eds that pretend they don't. I honestly think the guy needs to make these bitches sign a confidentiality/consent form. Really. He'll still get the pussy. When you are who Big Ben is, you need more protection than a rubber.
