Wouldn't a dominant team have at least 1 SB since they got caught cheating?

It's not like they still don't have Ernie Adams.

maybe they are trying to get us to put money into Sanders, and then sign one of our other players (Mclendon)... that is my guess... do they need a DL? everyone could always use an extra one I guess.

I'm sorry. They haven't. But they have had the talent to do so. That has been the difference these past 2 seasons, and the next few upcoming seasons unless Colbert is gone. He was signed on to do what Cowher told him, and can't handle it since Cowher is gone. But hey, if you like signing guys way past their prime just to be a homer, be my guest.

It's really a decision about what we plan for Sanders AFTER this season, whether he's in our long term plans and what the realistic expectations are for the 2013 season.

Let's face it, if we had no intention of signing Sanders long term, why would we match? You're not going to get a 3rd round pick in compensatory for sure and that wouldn't hit until 2015. People talk about it being a "rental signing" but it could be a "rental signing" for us if we match.

I think it's a big blow to our passing offense if he leaves, but maybe this is the year to clean the books, go 6-10, and restock the shelves. If we really want to go all-in on that plan, let's fucking do it. We went 15-1 after going 6-10 last time. Let's just plan on that.
Patriots offered him a one year deal. Same as the Steelers, in the form of their tender. I don't see this affecting their long term plans with or without Sanders. All they really need to scrape up is another $1.2m. His tender was $1.3m+, which presently counts toward their cap. They just need to come up with the balance, and by all accounts they have enough space to accommodate this deal. Kinda odd tho. There's another 6 days left before RFA signing period is over. I half wonder if the Pats are rope-a-doping them, trying to bait them into spending the rest of their cap space, and that it's McClendon they're really after. Seems like they offered just enough to entice the Steelers to match.

Personally, I'd still take the pick.

Sanders is nothing special. We can find at least as good in the draft.

Does it not seem like yesterday when we had our so called "young money" receiver crew? It really was a position i never thought we would have to worry about for many years. It is almost like we were too successful in the draft, getting it right, then all their contracts coming up at the same time.

I personally thing we will miss him & was looking forward to seeing to seeing what he would do without Wallace around, as our starting #2.

Now i know it comes from having a consistently good team & you have to try and keep the players, but i just can`t believe we are still in such cap shit, even with releasing or not resigning the players we have lost.

It shall be an interesting next 3 weeks.

Cheatriots should have gotten the death penalty with what they got caught doing... fuck those cocksuckers and their Cheatriot games.

That being said, Sanders doesn't seem to be anything special. Cheatriots are just being douchebags like usual.

Could be but why not go after Mclendon with a long term deal if they want him that bad? Why risk the Steelers not matching the Sanders contract and losing the guy you really want? Very curious situation.

I'd take the 3rd round pick, and thank the Patsies!

Sanders is another receiver. I thought he would have brought a bit more so far, so I wouldn't mind taking the pick.

  15. #95
Now that we practically have a 3rd round pick in hand, it's almost like we're giving a 3rd round pick to rent Sanders for 1 year.......I'd rather have a rookie WR with a 4 year contract......

I think we finally pull one over on the pats. We got a third and where did we draft sanders good payoff for the time he gave us. No way do we match that offer. McClendon is going no where! Boonedock saints style " we're you going nowhere"

Thanks for your time in Pittsburgh and good luck Mr. Sanders. Enjoy the New England landscape.

Take the Draft pick Steelers front office and use it wisely.

I am quite hopeful that Colbert welcomes agrees that Sanders is being overpaid and welcomes him to the next phase of his football career.

While he does have potential, he was often injured and never got elevate his play for an extended period.

Thanks for your contributions, Handy Manny, come talk about being the Steelers #3 next offseason.

Wasn't it Cowher who didn't want Ben and preferred to draft an offensive lineman? And the Patriots don't play in a division with the Ravens. The division crown is pretty much handed to them by three other mediocre teams.
