So the falcons are said to be looking to trade up from 30. So would you give 17 for 30, 60, and 92?
Hell yeah!
Fuck No!

Yes. If they want Milliner or Rhodes, they might have to go above us though.
I voted no, not because i would be against trading but because at this point, we dont know who will be picked top 16. Depending on how it plays out a trade back may make the most sense.
I would take this trade everyday and twice on Sunday.
I would tell them to go kick rocks in the Ga. Dome parking lot. There have been opinions and rumors tossed around on the local sports talk shows that the Falcons are looking for the same type of players that the Steelers need. (CB, Safety, OLB, ILB, maybe Oline help)

You know what the trouble about real life is? There's no danger music. -Chip Douglas
17 has value of 950
30 is 620, 90 is 300 and 92 is 132
I would trade the pick. We need fresh players desperately. We should have let sanders go too. This team has many needs. We need young players. Our old guys arent holding up.
The falcons must have a specific player or players in mind. I'm sure the steelers do as well. I'm all for trading back so long as the steelers aren't passing on a guy they highly covet just to add picks.
Why are the steelers in the semi mess they are in right now? It's because many of the young guys aren't producing at a high level. The result is the steelers have plenty of depth but not many impact players.
The steelers need quality, not quantity in this draft.
If the players they have rated as worthy of they 17 pick are all gone, then I'm all for trading back. But if the steelers trade back while potential impact players are still available then it's a bad move, unless they feel they can make a second move to trade back up.
The guy I keep coming back to is Vacarro. If he's available then the steelers have to take him. He would fill a need and also likely be best player available. Vacarro is the top S in the draft, the drop off at S after him is steeper than most other positions. Meaning i think the steelers can get a good WR, RB, OLB, TE, CB later where the odds of them getting a S anywhere near as good as Vacarro seems slim to me.
That's a long way of saying that for me, if Vacarro or some other player who slipped like DeCastro is available you take him. If he's not then you make that trade.
With the trade. The steelers could wind up with Keenan Allen at 30 which is probably right about where he should go. With the added picks they can also trade up in 2 to get whatever RB they covet. I'm thinking Le'Veon Bell. That would be one heck of a start to the draft.
That's Jimmy Johnsons old chart from two decades ago. Not saying it is completely invalid just other teams place other values on draft numbers. Some teams place a price on a player i.e. RG3 last year. If you look by the numbers the Rams cleaned up BUT when you have a player you feel is worth off the charts in value you don't go by the #2 (2,600) for #6 (1,700), #39 (510) #22 (780) and lets say the Skins win the Super Bowl this year and get #32 (590). Thats 2,600 to 3580 ≤ x. or the #16 overall pick or better.

I would pass on it right now. It really depends on who is on the board. I think the Steelers sit on the edge of the blue chip players. I am talking guys that should be pro bowl players. I do not think that value is there at 30. I am not stating there will not be Pro Bowl players later, but the odds are longer. I do not know if I give up a potential stud for 3 role players. I mean, would you trade a Troy Polamalu for Hood, Gilbert, and Sanders? Not the injured version of Polamalu, but the all world version.
I have heard the Falcons are looking to get CB like Dee Milliner but all reports I hear is he is probably going top five but definitely top ten. Now the Lions are #5 and looking to trade down but #5 to #30 is a HUGE jump back. I feel the Lions are looking to move down maybe 5-10 spots to still get that headline talent and fill holes with more picks but going to #30 is more of a rebuilding move and they aren't that far off right now. So lets say the Falcons are looking at Rhodes well he is still a top 10 talent so you have to jump 20 spots and I am not sure you have a dance partner unless the GM for the Jets is looking to dismantle this team and leave Rex out to hang while he finds his new coach for next year. And also you have to have the ammo to make that leap so unless the Falcons are putting it all on the line this year you don't mortgage the future. And is Rhodes the one piece that puts you over the edge? I don't think Rhodes is that guy but who knows maybe they do.
I personally think they can go several directions in CB, DE, or OT. They release Clabo and that's a huge hole to fill. Maybe DJ Fluker is sitting there at #17 and they say he's a day one starter and helps in the passing game and running game lets make a move. I don't know but if they want a top ten guy when you pick 30 you better plan on giving up some high 2014 picks as well.
A big no to trading back that far. Solid Players for our system like Eifert, Patterson, Jones will likely be gone by 30 and this is not a year where you'll get much in return for trading back unless you're drafting in the top 10.
If Eifert, the 3 OTs, the 3 CBs and Jarvis Jones are gone, I trade back and nab Keenan Allen, Reid, or Lacy
Trade back, nab Allen, Patterson if he is there, or maybe a rb. Ideally I would nab Keenan Allen there, Collins with our pick in rd 2, and then a rb with the Falcon's 2nd rounder. We could then use our two third rounders on a safety and an ILB.
Bottom line is we will not know if any blu chip players are going to fall into our lap until about pick 13 or so... Not too much longer now :-)
What would be interesting to discuss would be who you would draft at pick 17 if available, and if not, trade back... that would be a more focused discussion. For example, some people here do not want Jarvis Jones and would rather trade back... Some people would be fine with Eifert at 17, some would not... I guess there are a few 'borderline' blu chip players. Anyway, how can anyone not answer this poll as "It depends on who is on the board"
Is it April 25th yet? One more week!

Food for thought:
1. DeAndre Hopkins WR
2. Jamie Collins OLB
3a. Montee Ball RB
3b. Phillip Thomas S
4a. Jordan Mills OT
4b. John Bostic ILB
5. Duke Williams S
6a. Devonte Holloman
6b. Uzzi OG
7. Best DL available
kev, love this draft, although I bet we could get Atlanta's 2nd and prob 3rd or fourth.
No way Jon Bostic lasts until the end of the 4th. He'll be a third rounder at the latest.
It really all depends on who is left on the board come pick 1.17. If Jarvis Jones is still available I feel pretty confident that the Steelers will pull the trigger. Or if someone surprising were to slip like Lotulelei, I can't see why they would trade down.
However, if Jones is gone and the only wide receiver off the board is someone like Tavon Austin, I could see the Steelers trading back in hopes of gaining more picks and landing someone like DeAndre Hopkins or Keenan Allen if they are targeting wide-out, or someone like Matt Elam or Jonathan Cyprien if they are targeting S.
I believe we would gain there 1st, 2nd and 4th for pick 1.17 (both would equal 950 points).
