well, this certainly sucks donkey shlong
Look at teh bright side....now we can hold him without getting a penalty.
Ben will get the chance to say how much he is going to miss James since he is now with another team. I expect that thanks to the front office Ben and the running backs will get to see James a lot at least twice a year possibly 3 times. I hope James has a good year and does not hurt any of our folks when he plays the Steelers.
Hope he rocks Ben. Than Ben wakes up and plays team ball.
For long you live and high you fly
but only if you ride the tide
I can't wait to see Ben shrug him off and throw a bomb to one of the wr.
good luck james////
The flood gates will now open about how last year went. And Ben can't skip out to the start of camp with him.
I loved James here, but now we have to listen to "who de" shit from him.
sometimes it does suck.
We Dey.., Dey still Who Dey Dey aint shit and never have been shit
It does suck to have him in the division, would have preferred he signed with, say, Jacksonville or Tampa Bay. Anyway, I predict he'll probably make a few impact plays here and there, then that 35-year old body will fall apart by midseason. I have no ill-will towards him, though I think he's a total shmuck for not taking that reduced offer from us. So be it. He is the enemy now, and I'll care as much about him as I will about Mike $$ Wallace or Softy-Mendy with the Cards. Who dey? Who gives a shit.

I'm with Harrison on this one. What I don't understand is these owners want to bitch and moan if a guy holds out and doesn't honor his contract. Yet, they don't honor contracts all the time. The Steelers didn't honor the contract they signed with James Harrison.
There should not be a salary cap. Get rid of it. Since free agency started, it has been proven time and again that those times who buy a collection of superstars do not win. So let Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder or whoever do that. Smart teams will be selective in their spending. Also, it will allow a team like the Steelers to hold onto some vets like Harrison for that last year.
You gotta have a salary cap,or teams like Dallas would win every year. It seems to me like something was said and done where the Steelers didn't WANT Harrison for another season. Not saying I agree with that, just seems like it is that way. I have to admit, this makes me nervous. James isn't exactly known for using his head on the field, and I fear he might take a nasty shot at Ben, just to "get back" at the Steelers. We better draft a capable backup QB.
I don't know diver5, that's just the reality of the NFL. I don't think it's neccesarily about the Steelers "honoring" the contract or not. We don't know the numbers yet, but I doubt he got more from the Bengals than he would have gotten taking that reduced offer from us. If you have a job you like, and they say you can stay at a reduced salary (which is still a fair amount of money) do you take that, or get a job elsewhere for less? I think Harrison and his agent simply overvalued his worth, which was proven by the complete lack of interest in FA. He could have signed with the Steelers and still made more money than anywhere else. So to fault the Steelers in this case is incorrect, imo.
The 'cap' is not just about how much a team can spend as it is a revenue help for small market teams too. While not specificly "in" the 'cap' rules, revenue.. ( which is an intrical part of the whole contract) , gets spread from large market (rich) teams to small market (poor) teams that could never garnish a fraction of the resources that they can get in the big cities. Take this money away and lift the cap on spending and teams like Buffalo,Tampa, Pittsburgh and Jacksonville will have to forever be cellar dwellers. It has gotten to the point where the Union has now forced teams ( via contract ) to spend a minimum amount on player salaries to ensure teams don't pocket more than their fair share.
Nope...getting rid of the 'cap' would be tantamount to seperating the league into the have's and the have-nots and our favorite Sunday pastime would be on the wrong side of that issue!
It would be like Baseball.
I do not think James Harrison will cheap shot any of his former teammates, I do think he will hit hard though, so the guys need to get ready. Also James is a work out fiend, his injuries were ones he was recovering from. With his training he should be fine so for the games we have to play the bengals they better be doubling James or Ben will get flattened. I also look for Woodly to not be as effective with out James on the other side. I sure hope Worlds steps up big this year or it will be a tough year for us defensively.
If he shrugs off harrison's old azz, he will still have Dunlap, Johnson and Geno Atkins converging on him. Ben's body has taken a beating and is beginning to betray him as evidenced by his tendency for injury over the last two seasons. That said, I dont particularly think harrison will be an impact signing for the Bengals. I think the ben and the steelers will only have to worry about seeing him once. By the time the steelers play the Bengals again, harrison will be injured, suspended, or being used only as a situational pass rusher. The one thing the steeler organization has been very good at is letting players walk at the right time. The only player I can think of that they made a mistake on was Rod Woodson. Other than that, most dont make an impact elswhere.
