    2019-20 Penguins and NHL Offseason

I definitely will. The only thing we have on the book is Yellowstone mid July. We'll see if that actually happens. Still pondering an Antelope trip. So much up in the air, like my retirement account HaHa !

The miracle mile ! What an awesome fishery. I've been there 3 times and loved it. Technical enough to make you earn them. I will take you up on that. I've fished the West at least a week a year for the last 30 years.

I'm missing my sports fix as well. Instead of watching hockey, I'm fly fishing and tying flies. We travel to fish quite a bit over the Spring and right now it's almost impossible to plan. Both daughters are recently graduated nurses and still living at home. We're a bit nervous but have faith...

No fans for March Madness is a huge commitment. Not surprised hockey followed. I'm hoping this isn't worse than what we are being told. NHL was said to be considering a postponement of the season. Go ahead and postpone it for a couple weeks. Jake will be back and our chance skyrocket !

I have to agree. I smiling from last night but CBJ is a bigger more physical team and that type of play has been a challenge this year. Then the Islander's on Sunday, we all know how that went last year.

Pens pull off a solid college signing. Drew O'Connor another big forward. If he pans out, add him to Poulin and Legare. 3 big forwards in the pipeline. https://lastwordonhockey.com/2020/03/09/report-pittsburgh-penguins-to-sign-undrafted-free-agent-drew-oconnor/

Quote of the day "Crosby struggled mightily against Carolina, is a career-worst minus-8 and is an unfathomable minus-17 in 19 road games this season." (Yohe). I'll add in Justin Schultz. at -14. He hasn't been right in 2 seasons. Injuries suck but it is what he has become.

We go to about 20-25 games a year. Just like the Steelers, not all games are great. The Pens have made the playoffs for 13 straight years. Even at the bad games, we still have fun. It's a night out and usually some good hockey. Hockey is a great sport live, TV misses so much away from the puck...

Wife and I purchased a charity bag. I had more fun talking hockey while waiting in line than at the actual game. Cool thing and a small detail but the Pens passed out doughnuts to those of us in line early. Didn't get a jersey and our signed puck was Matt Murray. The 3rd jersey bobble-heads are...

Steady as ever. A couple turnovers that that were timing plays. Damn, I'm glad he is back !

I thought the Pens played well the 1st and 3rd. Murray saved their butts in the 2nd. Still some slop in both high zones leading to turnovers. Nice to have Bjugs back, he looked good for being out since November. Murray had a strong game but I would like to see Jarry against the caps. .

Great game to see. We were happy and for once the arena was pretty darn loud. We'll be back Saturday for the caps.

Have to admit I'm nervous about tonight. We'll be there in 217 and the wife and I are 14-3 this year. Buffalo on Thursday is going to be rough. They played like crap against Buffalo twice this year.

I'm hoping speed can be enough. It will take stellar goaltending to hold the fort but we have seen them do it. Adding 2 capable defensemen back into the system will change the dynamics. It might be enough, maybe not. I'll be buying playoff tickets.

Some more thoughts I wonder if the Kahun trade has to do with his performance bonus ? I don't know what the triggers are but he has a $ 2,850,000 clause. The payment would have hit next year's cap. The same year that Malkin has a $ 5,000,000 signing bonus and Tanev has $1,000,000. As I...

Couple thoughts Every year after the trade deadline. Lousy teams start to beat contenders. Young players coming up, fighting for jobs/careers, exceed expectations until the adrenaline wears off. These lousy teams will reset in a couple weeks and return to being lousy. Apparently ZAR is more...

I'm getting old, West Coast hockey wears me out. Especially when I had to be at a 630 AM Breakfast meeting. A couple of thoughts. Riikola played probably his best game of the season, physical with some solid positioning. Justin Schultz showed some LONG awaited sparks on offense. He almost...

Getting Marleau for a conditional 3rd is a win in my book. Not the best defensively but the damn guy has 1100 NHL points. He won Gold medals with Crosby and has been a Captain or Alternate on both Toronto and the Sharks. Malkin named him as the most under rated player in the league in 2016. I...

Zamboni Driver Wins NHL Game As Emergency Goalie

Was scrolling twitter and saw this pop up. I was able to catch the 3rd period. The Canes rallied around him with a fantastic defensive performance. Ayers has a memory that he will never forget. Loved his post game interviews.
