    2022 TEN 2nd

Literally zero chance any draft would unfold this well. Vera-Tucker is an ELITE guard prospect who is skilled enough to have played LT for USC. Dillon Radunz can start at RT soon, Walker Little at LT soon after. Oh, and the defense gets a bit of help with Nick Bolton, a bit of a Bush clone who is a bit undersized at 6'0", 233 lbs. but who plays football, is fast enough. Paulson Adebo is a true outside CB, big, fast, physical. Steelers interviewed Bolton and Adebo, like both of them. Had to give up a 2022 3rd to get Davis Mills, a QB who is going to be extremely good in a couple of years. Steelers are getting the comp 3rd rounder for Dupree so I think they can make the deal because Mills is worth it. Finally, an underrated WR who is big and fast, two edge rushers who have very good skills, tempting workout numbers, and a very large man to play NT/DT.

Oh yeah, and Tennessee's 2nd round pick in the 2022 draft.
So no center or running back. Ok, no thanks

Don't need a C or RB. All tackles, all the time. The incredible four-tackle, one G line.

Adding Bolton and Adebo means the defense is so freaking good, the offense does not need to snap the ball, hence no need for a C. Just osmotic transfer of the ball to Ben, the four tackles plus Decastro obliterate the defense, TD!!

Then the D takes over and scores a defensive TD. Steelers kick off, defense with another TD!

At this point, the opposition simply walks off the field.

I will no longer acknowledge you tiny-vision haters. My strategy is stunning, amazing. It's equivalent to the invention of the forward pass to the game.

Too many mocks. I am becoming focused on OT's and edge rushers. Think the position has so much value, I keep drafting OT's and edge rushers. Both Harris and Etienne gone by 24, and I just don't think Williams is worth the pick.

Still, a VERY good RT, a VERY good C, a VERY good G, a very good LT prospect, and three high-end pass rushers.

Only 4 more days until everyone is proven wrong.

AZ, are you not paying attention? I have conducted about 500 mock drafts. Unless Trevor Lawrence falls to #24 and the Steelers pick him, I have covered basically every other possible first round selection.

Supe's most recent mock follows a path I have seen in my mocks recently - the two 1st round backs are gone by pick 24, Williams is gone before pick 55. So the team either trades up (no, no, no, no, no - too damn many holes to fill on this team to be giving up picks), spends their 1st pick on Williams, when better players are on the board (no, no, no, no, no), or picks the best player, such as Humphrey (yes, please).

I'm just hoping they don't take a RB in round 1. Darrisaw or Vera-Tucker in one, and either center, Humphrey or Dickerson in 2, then what ever RB they chose in a later round will have a chance of getting out of the backfield.

Supe's most recent version shows why getting an extra pick in the 2nd or 3rd is so freaking valuable. Look at the top-tier talent still available. Getting just one more of those guys would be pretty freaking awesome - trading down in the 1st, getting Jenkins, grabbing Payton Turner or Assante Samuel in the 2nd, and then doubling up by getting Walker Little AND Brevin Jordan in the 3rd.

Really like Etienne. But man, Cosmi at 24, Fields at 55, Adebo at 87, then go Hubbard at 128. Hubbard really likes running outside the tackles, but does so with a purpose, gets there and gets yardage. Very good hands - catches the way you want, with his hands, away from his body. Good vision, decent balance. When he runs between the tackles, he is good at finding a gap and exploiting it.

Timed at 4.48 at Senior Bowl, but plays fast. Here he is against Tulsa:

Hubbard_Speed.gif

One report indicated that he ran a lot faster at the Senior Bowl than the 4.48 noted, and in fact one source claimed he was timed at 4.36. He plays fast. Not a good blocker, however. @#$% it, Jaylen Samuels can handle that.

You know where my bias lies...

Najee is more of a creator. TRUST ME - Bama's OL was not as grand as many think (probably the worst in the past 5 years actually). Bama had the deadliest all-round WR corp to keep the defense out of the box [I wonder if yinz see the comparison here?] Strength of the Steelers = WR room. Get a back w/ vision, great feet and one that can create - I see 11 wins again.

Rounds 2-4 it's time to rebuild that OL...

Problem is that the four great LT candidates, guys who can play soon if not right now - in order, Sewell, Darrisaw, Slater, Cosmi - are long gone by pick 55. You then need to select a player who needs development - Radunz, Mayfield, Brown, Little.

Jaylen Moore with pick 140 is a favorite of mine, but he is a RT for at least the first season. The need at LT is so freaking clear. I think Cosmi + Hubbard is much, much better than Harris plus a guy who needs to play RT and may not be LT starter until 2022, if ever.

Of course this is after about a billion mocks where I take Harris or Etienne with pick 24, so there's that.

Lots of trades. Hey, Anthony McFarland, come on down! You are the feature RB!

Building the team for 2022. The developmental picks on the OL, the high upside defensive players and two extra draft picks. Team gets a C, LT, RT, another RT, two quality CB's, a S I really like, and an edge rusher who could turn into a quality pass rusher. Given that the Steelers will get at least a 3rd and possibly more comp picks, this guarantees them 8 picks in the first 5 rounds, i.e., draft capital.

I've read where Eichenberg is a bit stiff and would be a RT. Kinda soured my outlook on him. We already have Chuks and Banner. Neither are LTs, and more ideally sized to RT.

No LT, but a top-tier RB, high-level C, solid CB, really good RT prospect, two edge defenders I like. Oh, and a TE. No trades to emulate a legitimate possible draft.

B, and it's not close. Eichenberg is a LT. He played 38 consecutive games, and in his career faced some very good edge rushers - Clelin Ferrell from Clemson, Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich from Michigan, Brian Burns from Florida State, Patrick Jones and Rashad Weaver from Pitt, and Chris Rumph from Duke. How did he do?

He has not given up a sack since 2018, the first month of his sophomore year. Since then, 35 games, zero sacks allowed. He could play immediately at RT since he is a solid run blocker and obviously a good pass blocker and he is certainly talented enough to be a very good LT.

Eichenberg's game tape vs. Clemson in the playoffs (second time played). Shows he is a very, very good pass blocker. ND insisted on running right the entire game, gave up running after falling behind by three TD's, but early on when they ran left, they got good yardage in large part because Eichenberg and the LG caved in the right side of Clemson's defense.

Eichenberg flat-out beat on a pass rush one time by an excellent spin move, but otherwise, he stoned the pass rusher. Book under constant pressure due to the rest of the line getting killed by Clemson's pass rush and the fact ND simply gave up on the running game.

traded back twice while still watching that I could land a top 3 RB .... Etienne was off the board so the 2nd trade back left me a shot at Najee or Williams or a OT
Well Slash I got the positions correct to start the draft ... but not all 3 specific players

We shall see if we go OT in 4
