Lewis Hamilton locked up the championship last week. Good race today, still one more to go in two weeks. I like Hamilton, he's not an automaton like a lot of F1 drivers. From his appearances on Top Gear he seems genuinely personable and funny.

Sunday morning, I'm having coffee and watching the F1 race. Mrs. Burgundy comes downstairs.
"Where are they racing?"
Me: "Aberjaninaredistan something."
"What?"
Me: Hits pause button so the name comes up. "That place there."

There has been drivers that do both the Indy & Coca Cola.

I wonder if any are doing it this year?
No one this year but one of the NASCAR drivers, Kyle Larson, said he will do it next year.
Wife and I were talking about this yesterday and we looked it up. Robby Gordon has done it five times, Tony Stewart twice, and John Andretti and Kurt Busch once each.
Due to wrecks, breakdowns, or weather, Tony Stewart is the only one who ever actually raced all 1100 miles in one day.
It's looking like NASCAR may be rained out though.

THanks Ron , appreciate the background work. I knew2 it wasn’t to many but also knew the Busch kid / Robby & Stewart. I’d forgotten about Andretti.

Those were the days, imagine Danica trying that……… she would have powder-puffed out.

Until I looked it up I wasn't aware that a few drivers had done both back in the day when both races weren't on the same date.
A lot of years we're at the Coca Cola 600 in the infield but my bud with the RV, his wife had knee surgery the other day so it was scotched a month ago.
Mrs. Burgundy and I did go to the Indy 500 once. In 2011 Mrs. B's niece who lives in Indianapolis had her wedding on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. I said that's a plan and bought race tickets. I always tell her she's my favorite niece (she's also my only niece).

I Plumbed in this guys BIG house here where I live. He was a big insurance guy from Indianapolis and he flew the General Contractor down to the Indy 500. They had the Black SUVs with escort into the infield and VIP treatment. The guys wife kept referring to Payton (manning) as being her boy (like a son) as they had him over all the time for supper etc…….

They are the nicest people and they give my employee cash tips all holidays ect….
