You know I realize he a tremendous talent but this is bullshit. They'll never be able to sign him so if these rumors are actually true about them exploring trading him to the Rams, do it. If they can get Gurly and their top CB Johnson I believe, then move him out of here. It's all about him who can't even give you a full season. I'd be ok with Gurly anc James Connor as my running backs and the addition of a top flight CB who is playing for a big contract. You know he's going to go all out. Tired of Bell!

The goal is to get a SB out of him. If you're investing that kind of money in him, get something out of it.

He needs a big season as badly as the Steelers do. If he plays a short season or craps out in the playoffs again, his value drops. That said, the Steelers need to take care of him and spell him enough that he's not completely spent by the playoffs like he was last year. Hopefully Connors can take some carries and Tomlin will use him more as he should have done with Williams last year. If Bell had 20% fewer carries on the season he probably would have survived to the AFCC game and that may have made for a different turnout.

Shades has more weapons than when "FAST" willie parker was here. The question in your scenario is weather cool shades has learned anything in his non-losing season career. Your absolutely right about proper use of BELL and his back ups. We will have to see how the season plays out and remember that the STEELERS have one more "TAG" they can execute onto LeVeon Bell. So really I think he has two seasons he needs to play hard for, HOPEFULLY back to back Super Bowls.

WOW!
Never considered this.
It'll NEVER happen, mind you, but I am intrigued.
I think I would actually take that trade.
Our O-Line with Munchak, all our other playmakers on O are more than sufficient to makeup the difference between Bell and Gurley.
Gurley is no scrub, but he's also not Bell.
But adding Johnson into that mix, that's a no brainer.
Bell is a problem child. INCREDIBLE talent, but not worth the headache, IMHO.

As much as one can dream I highly doubt the Gurley & Johnson for Bell trade will even be sniffed as to happening. How does next year tag on Bell work if the STEELERS so choose??? I just need a refresher course on that topic please.

Everything I read says this same thing, sometimes before the season starts and after they leave St Vincents....... and cool shades ain't happy about it.

Cool shades should make it publicly known that if Bell wants to win the rushing title and play in 16 games he should be with his team in camp.... let him figure the rest out.

Ya mean like.....

Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell did not report to training camp Thursday, and there are no signals from his camp about when, or if, he will arrive.

Coach Mike Tomlin said there are consequences for Bell for not reporting on time, but the Steelers cannot punish him in any way because he is not under contract.

“There is no question we are a group that values the team-building process,” Tomlin said Thursday. “And doing it in this setting, so yes, there is value, and yes, there are consequences for not being here. That’s the reality of it.”

What are those consequences?

“They’re untold as we sit here,” Tomlin said.

There has been speculation Bell will not report until mid- to late-August. Tomlin would like for his star running back to report sooner rather than later.

“Obviously I would like for him to be here,” Tomlin said. “He is not. I am going to focus my energies on the guys who are. It’s an unfortunate circumstance, one that we’ll deal with, one that he’ll deal with. I’ve had good clean communication with him. I’ll keep the nature of that conversation between us. Rest assured he’ll be ready to play football. When he gets here, he gets here.”
http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/...elers-training-camp-2017/stories/201707270187

“I have no idea when he’s going to show up,” Tomlin said. “I need him here yesterday. Not only for us, but for him. That’s my opinion. This team development process, this work that we’re doing out here is very much a part of overall game readiness. He’s a tremendous athlete, he’s highly conditioned, but this is football out here and you cant simulate that. My opinion is I need him here yesterday, but I don’t always get what I want. So, when he gets here, we’ll deal with it and move forward.”

He's gonna run the dog **** outta that kid, you just watch.

This is bullshit and it really lowers my respect for Bell. The steelers tried to sign him long term but the deadline passed, so now he can either sign the 1 year deal for franchise tag or sit out the season. There is nothing to gain by sitting home. He is either pouting or he's too lazy to show up for camp. Neither is a great look.

he's pulling an Eric Green. I remember every year Green seemed to have some contract issue where he would 'hold out" and it would magically be resolved just after camp broke.

i have a feeling James Conner starts week 1 as a message to Bell.

I love Bell. He is a phenomenal RB, the best in the league IMO. That all being said, I have to grudgingly say something I've suspected since last year. I don't think he's a Steeler guy. I think the smart play is to get absolutely as much as you can out of him while you have him. He is riding off into the sunset the first chance he gets.

I'd "start" Conner every week. Bell can come in after the first carry or two. He can go a full season without ever being named a starter. That would be 1 of my consequences.

Another would likely be the "Bus" maneuver. Soon as Bell gets you to the 2 yard line (a'la Duce Staley when he was having his monster season with Pittsburgh) you pull him and bring in Conner to finish the drive and get the TD. Every ******' time. If Bell wants his TDs make him finally break a big play. He gets plenty of 20 yarders but can anyone actually remember Bell breaking a long TD? He always gets tripped up by that last guy. It's true, he's going to get you 4 yards on average every time he touches the ball and he's a freak of nature, but he's NOT going to break one. He just doesn't do that.

(I looked it up. He's only had five 40+ yard runs in his career. Although 2 of them WERE huge runs. 81 yarders.) Thus he has averaged 1.25 40+ yard runs a year in his 4 year career. (1.25)

Jerome Bettis (the Speedster) on the other hand over his 13 year career averaged 3/4 of a 40+ yard run per year. (.76)

It's just meaningless stats but Bell is not tremendously more likely to break a long run than Bettis was. That's all I'm sayin'.

Every single one of you will be jumping for joy every time he scores a touchdown. So tired of all the hate. Who really cares if he isn't there. It doesn't mean ****. He wasn't gonna play in preseason games. He didn't last year. Him and every player on that team are friends. He will fit right back in as soon as he gets there. He will show up in 2 weeks and practice for a few weeks. No one will even give two ***** about if he held out if he has 2500 all purpose yards. And it isn't like he's eating Doritos and playing Xbox. He's training his *** off in Florida. Hes in the best shape of his life. Stop acting like hypocrites. The NFL is a business. He's doing what his agent is telling him to do. He has no leverage so he's attempting to gain a little bit but it's really accomplishing nothing. Oh well. Hines held out and everyone still sucks his dick.

Justin, I just want TEAM players. STEELERS have a good chance, why doesn't he acknowledge it, and get to camp? Listen to agent? serious? he can do what he wants. he chooses not to be there. It's on him. Not arguing, just saying.

I'm guessing that he won't be doing as much of that as he would if he were in camp getting in football shape and getting synched up whit the other players on the Offense. I have a feeling Bell will turn into a locker room cancer and be a distraction to the team. If he doesn't produce and if he becomes a problem then trading him becomes addition by subtraction.

He's doing a million times more. Check out his Snapchat. This isn't Chuck Nolls training camp. Players are year around players now. They come into camp in the best shape of their lives. Practice isn't exactly too extreme. The CBA has eliminated most of that.

He's 24 years old. His agent is in his ear. The day and age of team players is over. This isn't the NFL that there used to be. I dont know about you guys but I want to win Super Bowls.

If he doesn't show up by week 1 then I'll change my opinion. Tomlin talks to Bell every couple days on the phone. He knows what he needs to be doing. Hes also working with a fast feet specialist in Florida. Bell is shredded.

The best part of Bell not being at training camp is, he can't get hurt. If he gets hurt on his own, that $12M goes back into the steelers pockets. There is no risk here, and he is a special talent, that doesn't need the reps. The only person this will hurt is Bryant. Everyone else on O knows what it's like to play with this guy, and it still won't be enough to throw this O off track.

If he comes back at all, it will be next weekend after the 2nd preseason game. If he comes back just before or after the 4th preseason game, I will be ecstatic. He'll be healthy and ready to roll. If the team wants to **** on him for a game or 2, that's fine too, it sure beats him missing early season time because he's a jackass or hurt.

Get him here healthy, and run the wheels off of him. Also when the game is on the line at the 2 yard line, I'm giving him the ball, not making a statement to put in Conners. Otherwise we would have lost the game against San Diego.

Oh and 81, I never sucked Ward dick, then again, I also never had a problem with his holdout either.
