Josh Dobbs Re-Signs on One-Year Deal

Quarterback Josh Dobbs is re-signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal per his agent Mike McCartney. The Steelers originally drafted Dobbs in the 4th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In September 2019, the Steelers traded him to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 5th round pick. About a year later, Dobbs was waived by the Jaguars and claimed by the Steelers. This signing seems to cemented the quarterback group heading into the summer adding Dobbs and Dwayne Haskins to a battle for the third spot behind Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph.

That's 4 to bring to camp like they always do. It's cheap enough that they could still take a flyer on someone in the draft but it's looking even more doubtful with this signing.

I think Haskins is to slow to be a running QB. I think Dobbs was brought in to battle Haskins and winner sticks. Both are cheap enough to cut and we needed camp arms. Not much of a story here.

Haskins or Dobbs pending on if either make the roster. Haskins has the outside better chance but nothing is certain unless he suddenly developes a work ethic. Dobbs has a lot in his favor so it could be a battle amongst the camp arms.
