so, Pierre McGuire had a second interview on Sat with the Pens mgmt. for 2 hours. I am now a little scared of what direction this organization is heading. If he's hired, maybe he surprises me and turns it around, but right now, I have a hard time wrapping my head around him making major decisions for the Pens. Yikes!

I'm fine with whomever wins the Cup. Didn't want CHI to repeat. I like King Henry and the Kings are just a good team.

That scares me too. The one plus side to Pierre getting the job, he'll be off of my television and I won't have to listen to his lousy commentating.

What's really funny is everyone and their brother thought sure Bylsma would be out the door within 24 hrs of Shero.

What was that, a month ago?

@MolinariPG: Louis Jean of Canada's TVA network reports Penguins asst. coach Jacques Martin interviewed Tuesday for Carolina's head-coaching position.

Bylsma is gone too. Now, they need to get rid of Fleury.

Don't get too worked up over Rutherford.

His presser was interesting. He called out Bylsma for lack of adjustments in the playoffs. He also called out certain 4th liners for being double digit minuses. Easy to see who he was talking about. Craig Adams was the only one that was a double digit minus at -16. Tanner Glass was next closest at -8. He talked about needing a few more vocal leaders in the room. I think he said a lot of the right things. I can see why Mario and Burkle were impressed enough to give him a shot.

Living near Raleigh, I see an awful lot of Hurricanes games. Not really impressive, although the arena is nice. Maybe his hands were tied by ownership. I don't know. Guess we'll see.

After listening to the presser, sounds like Rutherford is a bridge/stop gap for a few years while they groom the next guy from in house. Given his age that makes sense, but it kind of feels like the next couple years will be throwaways. We'll see.

throwaways, with the 2 best players in the league?

How about getting them some big wingers that can go to the net?

Neal doesn't count - he's too lazy

I think he is a stopgap between Botterill or Babcock. If they can't lure MB away from Detriot, Botterill should be ready for the bigger role. He is one of the younger, up and comers in the NHL that will be a GM somewhere. I don't like this hire, but am hoping it's a bridge to better things down the road and will take the "wait and see approach". If he can steer the ship back to the right direction, then I'll be content. Who he picks as HC should be interesting.

Yea, Sid really wasn't the same player after Sochi. You don't have a to be a great hockey mind to see Sid wasn't right. Rutherford was just stating the obvious of what everyone else could see from the outside looking in.

The coaching pick will be very telling. GM says will name by July 1st.

Not a particularly inspiring hire, but we'll see what he does with the HC position. I just don't like the idea that they hire a guy who admits he will only be around for a year or two. That could be really good or bad.
