Yeah trades like these happen all the time in real drafts. I am changing my strategy. I am going to throw 1000 mock drafts up with different people picked. then after the draft I will come back and delete the wrong ones. then highlight the closest one. and then brag about how smart I am.

I cant help but think whom ever s there at 17, we are going to draft a OT. Got to protect our franchise QB
Yep Blitz. All this talk about drafting a WR in the first or second makes me sick. As I said in another thread. I have to buy some of those soft plastic balls, so I have something to throw at my tv instead of my remote. Stay the course Steeler Nation.

Jaelyn Duncan apparently shrank quite a bit during the 2022 season. Listed at 6'6", 328 lbs. on Maryland's roster, actually measured in a 6'5", 298 lbs.

Huh. No wonder he moves like a TE - he's just 30 lbs. heavier than the TE from Georgia.

I never believe college heights and weights, but some guys genuinely can’t keep on the weight. I also saw a lot of comments yesterday that they did not believe Bryce Young’s playing weight is over 200 lbs.

Because idiot GMs sometimes overvalue tge 40 times, players routinely drop weight trying to get faster in that metric

People still haven’t figured out that it is playing speed that matters… when a guy cant mentally process the game fast enough it slows him down… straight line speed or even static reaction cone drills aren’t a real way to judge game speed… the 40 it for track stars lol… get someone to build a computer program to determine in game reaction and speed and you would get a better understanding of how fast the guy plays…

Guys who are known to be fast but small add weight… slower guys try to drop it

I'm reading Duncan at 306 pounds

You are right - but I can 100% assure you that it was 298 yesterday and earlier today. Checked it 2-3 times because it was so far off his listed weight. I am guessing the guys running the combine numbers made a mistake and fixed it, or possibly he was reweighed after he ran the 40.

This is the best fake draft imaginable. Dropped from 120 to 148 and in the process picked up 167 and moved up 7 spots in the 7th. The draft value chart gives 120 and 243 a value of 55, while 148, 167 and 236 have a value of 55.4.

17. Broderick Jones OT Georgia
32. Mazi Smith DT Michigan
49. Dawand Jones OT Ohio State
80. Sydney Brown S Illinois
148. Colby Wooden Edge Auburn
167. Dorian Williams LB Tulane
229. Puca Nakua WR BYY
236. Zach Kuntz TE Old Dominion

OL is remade for the next 6 years. Jones and Jones are going to maul defenses. Mazi demands the double-team, takes a ton of pressure off Cam. Brown is just too good to pass up here. He was productive at Illinois, shined at the Senior Bowl, showing great physical traits at Combine. Williams a decent-sized LB who can cover. Nakua a talented WR, good hands, very good blocker. This is probably the 4th or 5th time I have taken Kuntz in one of my mocks, now don't believe he lasts this long after a very impressive showing of physical skills at Combine. Coming off injury so maybe.

Yes, yes, no CB, no long-term QB but damn man, lotta holes to fill.

First one after the combine. I could definitely live with this. I'm really curious to see Daniels 40 time. He could be a good slot guy for us from a small school.

Here's my first mock after the combine - BPA only / no trades:

  • PIT

    17.
Broderick Jones - Bye bye Dan Moore Jr.
    OT Georgia

  • PIT

    32.
B.J. Ojulari - Not sure if we bring back Dupree, but if we don't - Ojulari ain't Uncle Jarvis and we need help here
    EDGE LSU

  • PIT

    49.
Emmanuel Forbes - Lookie here - very nice gem that fell in our lap
    CB Mississippi State

  • PIT

    80.
Jordan Battle - not a homer pick at all - Battle is a smart instinctive S who can cover and hit
    S Alabama

  • PIT

    120.
Cameron Latu - we need a third TE and Latu has all the qualities to fully backup Muth should he (Muth) suffer w/ more concussions
    TE Alabama

  • PIT

    234.
Cory Durden - the last time we picked a DT from NC State we let him get away (Gravedigger) - turn this guy into a beast
    DT NC State

  • PIT

    241.
Michael Jefferson - meh, a poor man's Martavius Bryant (he could learn behind George)
    WR Louisiana

Second run...

  • PIT

    17.
Brian Branch - we'd have the best safety tandem in the league for the next 5 years
    S Alabama

  • PIT

    32.
Anton Harrison - again, bye bye Dan Moore Jr.
    OT Oklahoma

  • PIT

    49.
Henry To'o To'o - exit stage left Devin Bush - enter a true Mack ILB; pairing him and Jack is gonna be special
    LB Alabama

  • PIT

    80.
Hendon Hooker - couldn't pass up on QB talent like this w/ this pick (Rudy can leave now and we'd have nice talent behind Kenny in Mitch and Henessey)
    QB Tennessee

  • PIT

    120.
Keeanu Benton - we need help upfront - hopefully we can bring back Larry O
    DT Wisconsin

  • PIT

    234.
Anfernee Orji - need more help on the edge
    LB Vanderbilt

  • PIT

    241.
Jerome Carvin - methinks the Big Dot experiment could be ending...
    OG Tennessee

So shortly after getting rid of Bush you go pick up a Hooker.

I see ya.

I just reminded myself why I don't do trades. It gave me the farm for just dropping down two spots.

So in this draft Carter fell to us at 17, so trading down was not logical,… at 32 i did move back and then traded that extra pick for several in the 150ish range, so this was heavy on sleeper picks

Using 17 on carter and moving out of 32 I definitely missed out on the top 5 OTs, so i took an ILB at 39 and went for back to back mid round OT picks… both guys we would be lucky to get where these fell…

There wasnt a CB or NT type around that 120 spot, so I went WR
A sleeper pick at LB because that group might be really shallow after free agency
A Sleeper pick at QB (not just to keep Coolie happy … he would have great value there)
The Sleeper WR I almost am certain they will target if they don’t address it early
Then a TE and CB i liked after the combine.
-Allen is an intelligent blocker type.. capable enough in the passing game but no star receiver type… a great cheap Gentry replacement
-Blackmon is definitely a Project but he has all the coverage abilities…. He has to beef up and get better at tackling… a good practice squad prospect… which if we don’t get a top end cb is all we need
