The Pittsburgh Steelers announced this morning that they are signing head football coach Mike Tomlin to a three-year contract extension. Tomlin, who has coached the Steelers since 2007, is now signed through the 2024 season.

Tomlin has coached the Steelers for 14 seasons and has amassed a 145-78-1 record. His .650 win percentage ranks in the top three in the NFL over that span and has led the Steelers to the playoffs 9 times in his 14 seasons. Tomlin has never had a losing season in Pittsburgh and has become one of the most respected coaches in the league during his tenure.

What do you expect for Tomlin over the next three seasons? Sound off in the comments below!

3 years? Damn! It's normally 2 years at a time. They must really want him to retool the team after Ben retires. I guess that makes some sense but he needs to change some of the ways he does things.

Awesome!

Congrats Coach T, so glad to have you leading this team now and in the future. One of the best in the business, admired by all. Steelers players and those around the league love him. He's got the utmost respect of everyone around, in house and out. There's good reason for that. Tomlin's a damn fine football coach. And he's a decent, hard-working family man with great moral character. A straight shooter, tells you how it is. Listen to anyone who's played or worked for him, they all say the same thing. (Deebo may be an exception, but that's another story.)

The Rooneys clearly feel they have their leader in place. This is a huge vote of confidence for the man in charge. It provides ongoing stability and strength to the organization. Consistency in the NFL is rare as a blue moon, nobody does it better than the Steelers.

Here's to putting 2020 in the rearview mirror. Gargle, rinse and spit out the bad taste in our mouths from a truly disappointing season that unfortunately spiraled downwards after an incredible start.

Hand Matt Canada the offense and keep the defense cranking on all cylinders. Can't wait for the draft, OTA's, Latrobe et al. Let's get this thing moving!

Let's go Coach Tomlin!!!!! Here we go Steelers!

Won a SB and got to another with a championship level squad and more importantly he was a young coach with his own thoughts, BUT he retained the core of the previous staff with EXPERIENCED Coordinators and let them do their thing. Breath of fresh air, but still had high quality coaches to do the lifting. Since then tell me what they have done here?
1. He believes in being an identity that you have to move around instead of game planning what will hurt you. And good teams with good coaches Sachet around the Steelers identity.
2. He cannot get quality coordinators and positional coaches. NONE of them with the exception of Munchak has been anything.
3. He CANNOT fix anything broken with anything other than drafting or acquiring talent or firing someone.

THE Steelers made this move about money. Nothing else. He produces mediocrity with the occasional HOPE of more. And we the suckers lap the HOPE up like fools. Unbelievable.

Total bullshit. The dude is never held accountable for anything.
Always passes the blame to the players with his, "we just need to execute better" bullshit.

The Buffalo game this season sums up Tomlin as a coach. 2 point game at halftime, McDermott tells the sideline reporter, "we have alot of adjustments to make". Tomlin tells the reporter, "we just need to execute better" Well guess what, Buffalo actually made adjustments, and the found a way to get Diggs open all over the field, including on our speedy ILB.

Mediocrity is the new standard in Pittsburgh under this Rooney. Don’t have a losing season and you get extended. We will never win a championship under this arrogant head coach. The next four years should be a real treat with Cool Shades at the helm.

Fitting that this is announced on 04/20.

I can't wait for another word-salad presser full of empty tropes along with more late season collapses and playoff losses.

In what way. I'm not feeling very amused this morning.
We all know Coach Tomlin's strengths and his weaknesses. There are no more Coach Cowher players on the team and this team has lead the league, defensively in sacks and has VASTLY IMPROVED in takeaways over the past two seasons. The team won ELEVEN games straight and they had NO REAL BYE WEEK last season---yeah, they ran out of gas.

How many of us thought that we would have won 8 games after Ben went down??? NO OF US. But they did it.

The team lost the best RB and WR at the peaks of their careers and they keep reloading.

This extension will allow us to truly evaluate Coach Canada and his game planning.

I'm celebrating this signing and I will continue to laugh at the haters...
