WATCH – Amazing New Angle of Immaculate Reception Is Uncovered

Wow, an amazing new angle of the Pittsburgh Steelers most important play has been uncovered.

According to this Twitter user this angle of the famous Immaculate Reception hasn’t been broadcast very often.

The Immaculate Reception of course propeller the Steelers to their first playoff win at Three River Stadium. They would lose to the Undefeated 1972 Dolphins the next week, but the momentum would carry the Steelers on to four Super Bowl titles in the 70s.

Two things that always irked me about this play.

#1 - It launched the Steelers dynasty. As if without this win they don’t win 4 Super Bowls without it. This game had no bearing on what happened on the field two years later in Super Bowl IX or the 1974 draft. It was a great moment and has mystique — but it didn’t determine the future. I’ll argue the Jesse James call did more to impact a Super Bowl than the Immaculate Reception

#2 - Madden bitching that the call cost the Raiders the Super Bowl. As if the Raiders weren’t bridesmaids every year. All 1972 did was break up their streak of losing in the AFC Championship Game/AFL Championship Game. They lost 7/8 games in which they would have advanced to Super Bowl if won, 6 of them under Madden. Miami was just outright a better team and consistently beat them, then the Steelers were a better team. They only advanced when they got Steelers short-handed in 1976, and for all the crying about ref calls, they shut up real fast when they benefited from blown PI call that would have won game for Patriots.

**** the Raiders—who openly admitted to cheating as a tactic to win then cry when they feel slighted by a ref call. And Madden can still shove it up his *** about IR cuz if Tatum just plays the ball instead of head hunting they win. So **** em

Never understood why the Tatum/ Frenchy thing even mattered. That was a stupid rule. The ball went literally. What you need to prevent is a player batting the ball forward to a teammate. Who gives a **** if he touched. If he had possession he could have tossed it.

It sounds like you're saying that without the momentum of the Immaculate Reception, the Steelers would have not been contenders?

I'll buy that they outplayed the Dolphins in the AFC Championship and would have beaten the over the hill gang of the Washington Redacted even though they had yet to "peak" as a unit, then it really changes the way the decade turned out.

And Steelers would have won too - the Football Team were by far the weakest NFC Super Bowl representative all decade, from that game Miami is the only Super Bowl champion that didn't score a point in the 2nd half and still won.

Who cares about the "what if" scenarios? It still would've happened as they were just too dominant, but like a game itself, it's okay to ride the momentum of a single play.

In this case, arguably the greatest play in NFL history.
