Pittsburgh Steelers starting outside linebacker TJ Watt was just named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after his outstanding performance Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Watt collected 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 pass deflections and a forced fumble that secured the victory for the Steelers in overtime.

This is the fourth time Watt has been honored with player of the week and the first time since Week 2 of the 2020 season. Watt is currently second in the NFL with 7 sacks even though he has played one less game than the rest of the league.

Watt, who signed a contract this off-season that made him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL, has done nothing but produce since the Steelers drafted him in the first round in 2017. Watt has amassed 56.5 sacks in just his first 4+ seasons and has finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting two years in a row. If Watt can stay healthy and sustain his success, then he’s likely to finally capture his first DPOY this year.

What’s your favorite memory of Watt so far in his career? Sound off in the comments below!

Zach with the good Herb, augh. My favorite memory is the one he hasn't made yet... That playoff winning difference making play. But for the ones he did make the game winning OT strip is a nice one to look back on. I have ahem always pimped him (cooch type humble brag) pre-draft. You're my boy blue!

PS

Good read and most reasonable people would expect the accolade even with the STEELER factor against him.

Watt may turn out to be the biggest BUST in Steelers history

in Canton

One could hope you are right.

Hell if they would start using Derrick more then we could end up with brothers from the same team........... of course as with present conditions.......... Derrick would be riding TJ's coat tail in.

There is not enough time left in Derek Watts life let alone football career to make a claim for the HOF.

There is a laundry list of deserving fullbacks that should be considered for the HOF ..... but they don't seem to be in any hurry to acknowledge them

Very correct but my point was he would ride TJ coat tails in as he is riding TJs coat tails here on the STEELERS. They don't use him and yet pay near 10mil.. He is here because it appeases TJ, pretty simple and evidently we chose NOT to use a FB so he is just a Special Teams 1/2 ace.
