Art Rooney II Releases Statement

Steelers President Art Rooney has released a statement on the events that took place Sunday in Chicago.

The Steelers have always been a central part of my life. I grew up listening to WDVE tapes recorded off of the radio of Steelers fight songs, and wearing Steelers jerseys as a fashion statement. I joined the message board when I was 12, and this site has been a big part of my life ever since. I’ve found life long friends and met some of the best people on earth through this site. In 2015, I was able to help revive the site and develop a news website and all of our social media platforms. I can’t wait to continue to grow with all of you. Go Steelers!

Well I was ashamed and embarrassed as a life long fan, and thought the steelers organization was better than this. I agree with Trump they should stand and do there protest off the field. If they really care- they would go to the court rooms in the off season or show there support in many other ways. NFL needs to stay out of politics. They allowed this behavior to happen– they can stop it. And just to set things straight I do stand with the kneelers and agree with their politics but I do not think it belongs in the anthem or at the game. I would like it to be left outside.

Like in all families, there is sometimes misunderstanding and disappointments. I admit I was not proud of the Steelers last Sunday. For the 1st time in my life I was shocked by their behavior . While I still loved them, I did not like them very much and banned football from my home last Sunday. While it is hard to fathom that not one person in the whole organization had an inkling of how hiding out in the tunnel would be perceived, I will choose to accept their explanation of their intent. We all make mistakes. A better way may have been to explain what your intentions were and then to apologize for any hurt caused. However unintentional, people were hurt deeply. Our flag drapes the coffins of the brave men and women that gave all they had for each one of us. I can only imagine how their families felt.

Then they should have left the political stand somewhere else other then a field I’ve been a fan of the steelers 37 years I ha e a tattoo of them up my arm and I’m considering of getting it covered up. I’m having a hard time with this the team should have went out and stood with a man who served this great country no matter what some one said but my team like so many others looked like a bunch of babies. I’m heart broken I win and lose with them every week I catch hell because of being a fan now I’m really starting to hate pro sports ………over paid babies

42 years ive been a steelers fan.after what I saw this week from ,the entire organization
was disgusting.i will be getting rid of my steelers jersey’s,hats, terrible towels, etc.
maybe i’ll come back in 10 years when all these crybabies are retired.that’s if football still exists.
you should be ashamed of yourselves…mr rooney your father, and grandfather would have never let this happen.
you and the rest of the nfl execs are COWARDS!!!
