As one of the oldest and most successful franchises in the National Football League (NFL), the Pittsburgh Steelers have made a lasting impact in the football world.

In a previous post, we highlighted how the Steelers’ marketing and branding success has led to numerous brand sponsorships, naming rights, and collaborations, ensuring a bright future for the team. Such partnerships range from a long-term deal with Heinz Field to a full-season promotional campaign for Parx Casino.

However, beyond the ones mentioned in the linked post, it’s also worth noting that the Steelers have teamed up with various brands for eyewear, sneakers, and athletic wear, once again proving their influence in football and the broader sports industry. We list some of these remarkable collaborations below.

Oakley sunglasses

As an outdoor-oriented brand focused on sports and performance eyewear, Oakley has a long-standing on-field partnership with the NFL. Under its official NFL line, Oakley has collaborated with the Steelers for the special-edition Pittsburgh Steelers Holbrook, characterized by the official team logo etched on the lenses and color accents all throughout the frames.

Also offered as prescription sunglasses on the retailer FramesDirect, the Oakley Holbrook frames are known for their timeless design, lightweight style, and impact protection. Similar to other sunglasses from outdoor eyewear brands like Ray-Ban and Wiley, the Holbrook frames provide ultraviolet protection. However, they’re particularly beneficial for sports like football due to their Prizm Lens technology, which enhances visibility and light transmission.

Nike footwear

Like Oakley, Nike also has an extended partnership with the NFL, which not only entitles the brand to provide all 32 teams with exclusive uniforms and sideline apparel but also grants permission to produce official merchandise for the franchises. Among the notable collaborative athletic gear released by Nike are the Nike Pegasus 41 NFL Pittsburgh Steelers running shoes, which feature dual Air Zoom units, a foam midsole, and the official team colors of black, white, and university gold.

The Nike x Pittsburgh Steelers footwear collection also includes other styles, such as the off-court slides with synthetic leather straps that feature the team’s official logo.

Reebok sneakers 

Meanwhile, athletic footwear and clothing brand Reebok has signed the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Justin Fields for a collaborative sneaker collection. Debuting in September 2024, the collection includes the redesigned Xano X4, which is the most lightweight and breathable model in Reebok’s Nano series of training shoes, FloatZig 1, which features the Floatride Energy Foam for high-energy return and adequate cushioning, and Zig Dynamica 2, which is exclusively made for kids.

Fields’ name does not appear anywhere on the sneakers, but the left insole is printed with the name of his foundation, the Justin Fields Foundation, while the right insole reads, “Everyone’s playing field.”

Abercrombie & Fitch apparel

Lastly, the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise continues to be represented in casual and athletic wear through Abercrombie & Fitch's recent fall apparel collection. The fall campaign sees Steelers’ linebacker TJ Watts donning a licensed graphic tee with a cool and vintage feel. However, the collection goes beyond shirts to include other pieces like hoodies, sweatshirts, hats, and outerwear. For example, the Pittsburgh Steelers crew sweatshirt features the brand’s proprietary softAF fleece fabric and has the team’s graphic detailing on the chest and sleeves.
