Pittsburgh Steelers star linebacker Ryan Shazier faced a scary injury early in the first quarter during the matchup between the Bengals and the Steelers Monday night. When attempting to make a tackle, Shazier dove head first into player and immediately hit the ground while simultaneously signalling for the injury crew to come and assist him.
As announcer Jon Gruden pointed out, Shazier's lower body did not appear to move under his own control the entirety of the time he was being carted off the field following the injury.
While left for subject of debate, it is believed that Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert told head coach Mike Tomlin, "Ryan [Shazier] has no feeling in his lower body," when a camera was pointed at the two during the game, which prompted an upset response from Tomlin.
Shazier is currently being hospitalized, and is being evaluated for a back injury with no official status listed to his condition as of yet.
More information will follow.
